  2. this could work it might be more than you need? http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
  3. if it was a secure garage then there would be cameras? sucks to hear about your truck I knew someone who had their radio repeatedly stolen out of their car so they put razor blades all through the inside by the radio---pile of blood and no stolen radio and never messed with again! also a friend of mine got his car stolen in chicago 7 years ago now just rents a car once every 2-4 months to see family. saves a lot of money! uses a bicycle and the mass transit to get around I have also heard that junkyards have less car parts. The parts are worth more as just scrap metal? I also read that the government is proposing/going to make the pennies out of steel because of the cost of copper?
  4. need a link to me need more proof? it looks more like http://www.nbc5.com/news/3959595/detail.ht...amp;dppid=65193 New Cameras, Microphones To Cost $3 Million POSTED: 4:21 pm CST November 30, 2004 UPDATED: 7:58 pm CST November 30, 2004 CHICAGO -- In Chicago, Big Brother isn't only watching you; he's listening, too. Images: Chicago's Surveillance Camera Network Grows Video: Chicago Video Surveillance Grows Starting in December, police will begin to install 50 new street surveillance cameras, complete with gunshot detectors like those on cameras already in place, city officials announced Tuesday. Developers say the microphones are sensitive enough to detect when a silencer is being used to muffle the sound of gunfire. City officials are calling the safety program Operation Disruption, NBC5's Natalie Martinez reported. The program began last summer with 30 cameras set up throughout Chicago. The first cameras sent information back to officers' laptop computers in squad cars, but the expanded system will be controlled through a central command center, where retired police officers will monitor activity. "We've integrated the gunshot detection with the video surveillance that actually electronically identifies the location and turns in the location of the gunshot, and we've integrated that with wireless technology that remotely feeds the center," said Ron Huberman, executive director of the city's Office of Emergency Management and Communications. Authorities said the system allows police the freedom to patrol high-crime neighborhoods, where cameras are perched in bulletproof boxes atop light poles. The cameras allow instant replay and display compass information so controllers can more easily help police find victims and perpetrators of crimes. Mayor Richard M. Daley said the camera program shows the city is paving the way for the rest of the country. "We're so far advanced than any other city -- and sometimes the state and federal governments -- they come here to look at the technology," Daley said. At a press conference Tuesday, Chicago leaders credited the camera system for the current 12-year low in violent crime rates and a reduction in the number of homicides. "We've had 107 requests for the tapes from the cameras. We have inventoried over 56 usable videos," said Chicago Police 1st Deputy Superintendent Dana Starks. The expansion to Operation Disruption will cost almost $3 million, with the funding coming strictly from money police seize from drug dealers, Martinez reported. Previous Stories: * November 16, 2004: City Unveils Hi-Tech Surveillance System * September 10, 2004: Surveillence Cameras To Go Up Throughout Chicago C this is old news there are many--many more now more realistic than a google employee video taping america he/she wouldn't get away with this video footage without causing problems for themselves? people don't like being video taped? thats why these camera boxes are bullet/vandal proof?
  5. beautiful south side of chicago whats this proof of? actually a stones throw from "the cell" or old comisky park buying some tickets to a white sox baseball game? that is a shot from one of the many 24 hour cameras set up in poor neighborhoods to spy on people? if one was set up in your neighborhood how would you feel it can zoom into your living room! would you feel safer or feel like your rights to privacy are being violated?
  6. hey anonymo I know your into music mixing and sound engineering here is a cool link for you http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=dna&L=0 still downloading so it will take a little while for me to listen...

  9. read this book it is excellent reading I promise you! http://faculty.vassar.edu/bergon/wildernessreader.html "A collection of writings from 26 conservationists whose experiences bring the reader into direct confrontation with nature in all its beauty and power." http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/087...7051902-3916914
  10. a few words about his demise which was not thought out well I have a saying that "one doesn't conquer the mountain or the forest it LETS you pass/live off of its land or it will kill you in your arrogance" one thing that is known about traversing dangerous rivers is always take your pack off and carry it above your head if you go down at least the pack won't take you with it and you can usually find it downstream if you do go down. I couldn't believe he didn't get a helmet to kayack the colorado river!? also the moose--- he should have shot the caribou calf (more environmentally friendly caribou can have more calf's) even so he could have tied the meat (moose) to a tree or rocks or anything using the river it would be cold enough to preserve the meat while trying to smoke it slowly to preserve it for the time he thought he would be there. I have actually made jello in a mountain stream its cold enough, took a few hours though. the movie doesn't even touch the fly aspect or mosquito problem! I have not seen my feet because of mosquito's in the millions surrounding me lost on a logging trial (was a portage on the map?) in canada. My dad had the canoe and said they all sounded like heavy rain beating their wings on the aluminum. Tiny black flies (look like gnats) also fly in clouds in spring they bite you you don't feel it at first then a trickle of blood and then it itches real bad--- a head net with a good brimmed hat is the only rescue did I say they travel in clouds! also there are the deer flies, normal house flies that bite, horse flys, ticks, leaches so many bugs in the tundra wilderness!!! I actually have the book that was in the movie "edible wild plants" he could have lived on pine bark for awhile rather than weird unknown plants even http://www.lichen.com/people.html might keep you alive or sicken you its a tough call! watch what the caribou and squirrels eat it may not be bad for a human to eat? but he died of dehydration crapped himself to death thats what the weird plants and the water did to him more common than you would think its called "beaver fever" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giardia_lamblia a bacteria from animal feces that survives even in really cold water need to boil anything in the wild so many unknowns--- I really think the guy was clueless but it is a great story I loved it because it is a true story of a real wilderness adventure!
  11. great movie found it very inspirational! this persons true story happened while I was hiking the Appalachian Trail in 1991. Some sadness for me--- I know how hard it really was for him, but mostly understanding of what this person was going through. I can relate to this movie; it is an Excellent story and a good movie. I graduated college and then spent 6 months living out of a backpack its not easy and the people you meet are interesting to say the least. Almost makes me want to grab the backpack and hit the road but I am not as young as I used to be if you read my post below its a movie spoiler sorry all.....
  12. all I can say is be prepared for 7 dollars a gallon for gas by end of summer and plan accordingly

  16. its all melting into my girlfriends house we have to move quick last august we needed a canoe to get to the front door not this spring she is moving --- beautiful views and nice wildlife but flooding makes for mold and not cool for anyone to breath the mold left behind---in two days supposed to be 3 feet above flood level 1 foot equals half a football field of flooding!! its so flat around here!
  17. I can try to make it time date?
  18. really cool I would be freaked out like the rest of the moving people! the one guy pokes the girl good stuff I would have laughed and broke the freeze
  19. I came home to work they didn't need me so this is a view from my porch my car is buried now most of the snow fell during the morning and afternoon not overnight there are snow drifts up to my waist and stomach its been crazy!!! most people cannot get out of their driveways more pics of the snow would be cool maybe tomorrow I will take some shots and post them
  20. tonight in southern wisconsin/Illinois border a record (20+ inches) amount of snow in a 24 hour period plus 30 mph wind gusts WOW! let is snow although I am getting sick of winter! shoveling everyday and driving in it is getting old I have food and beer and movies girlfriend doesn't have internet and I have a feeling I am not leaving there anytime soon once I get to her house. This should be an interesting snow storm?! At least I got out to vote today before the snow hit! If you are somewhere warm and sunny I envy you
  21. hard being a parent something I am learning about!? she (my girlfriends daughter) asked me why I like the game (css) because shooting people is wrong (her words) but she also said its just a game and she would rather play something else something fun like neopets lol the game I play is stupid in her words! my girlfriend doesn't restrict anything she will let her daughter watch any movie or anything that some would think is not cool to let a kid watch; but she (her daughter) doesn't like the weird violent stuff anyway she will walk away and play with toys? makes me wonder---- about the cookie bowl theory--- if you say "don't go there!" then they will? over and over to see whats in the cookie bowl? if its no big deal than it is boring real quick and onto other fun stuff? there is no right way to raise a child! our parents and their parents were noobs learning as they went and that is all---- learn as you go!!!!! If a child becomes uncool you adapt and set rules and guidelines and try to show the child good karma and good behavior gets rewarded! addiction (and its many ugly forms) is a whole other ball game that is something that needs direct adult intervention IMO and the signs start at a very young age sometimes addiction is genetic and no good parenting can help or stop a troubled/addicted child? everyone is different and you will find no right or perfect answers here I am sure!
  22. you should be more worried about that remote control in the hotel room
  23. thank you thank you its been a fun day I am getting old yikes!
