Yes, there will be a cosplay contest Here's a brief description of the weekend: We have a fun filled, action packed schedule of events for this year! On Friday evening, there will be a concert from Entertainment System, followed by Karaoke, The Cheese, and many late night random panels. On Saturday Evening, we will have our Cosplay, which is a costume contest. Cosplayers can join for walk-ons, or submit a skit; information on Cosplay sign-up will be available with your program guide when you register. After the Cosplay, we will have a Dance, hosted by DJ 0ddy-kun, and featuring several other DJ's of awesome. It is guaranteed to be a most excellent time. Throughout the weekend there will be a Dealers' Room available with tons of cool merchandise for sale, an Artist Alley with most impressive artists' items and commissions for sale. Keep an eye on the schedule for our many honored Guests' panels and events. Visit our Game Room to enter in tournaments to win prizes; the Game Room will feature many console games to entertain, and DDR. The game room is going to have a Smash Bros Tournament

Hey all, one of the reasons I haven't been frequenting the forums in the past year or so is because irl I've been going to a lot of anime conventions and staffing a few of them. For those who don't know, anime = japanimation = japanese animation. A lot of the anime conventions not only include nonstop showings of different new and old anime movies and shows, but also have events such as a costume contest, a dance, and sometimes a performance from a musical guest. People who work in the industry in the U.S. such as voice actors and directors will come and speak about their experiences and sign autographs as well. Another aspect of anime cons is that they are generally family-friendly, so if you have a kid who is into Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh, or loves the anime that is shown on Cartoon Network, this could be a lot of fun. About 80% of the people who attend anime cons dress up in the costume of their favorite characters for the duration of the weekend, and it's a lot of fun to see all the great costumes.
