Ya my cpu temps are good, i am thinking the card change in temp might be because I am using a 24" monitor so more to drive perhaps? It seems to have good airflow (fron case fan exit case fan with freezer cooler blow out the exit, house is about 70F...so ???

The 4870 might be out of the way right now, what about a 4850, worth the upgrade?

So Sam I think u may have it...I opened my case and dusted it out and the video card was really hot, so I ran the stress test from source on lower settings and got it to fail (shut down), so i DL'd riva tuner and set the fan to 100% and checked speedfan and before the fan setting change the gpu was showing like 64-66 and hot(flame pic) so i ran the stress test again and it did not fail, so i turned up the settings and ran it and it still did not fail. I checked the temps after this and the temp was like 71. Now i have a 8800gts, is this hot, i mean ya it was only for a few minutes but it seems to be hot. I can imagine what it is when being on all day and they loading up and playing source may have really been pushing it. Anything I can do to get it cooled down?? Is this card known to be hot, should i get a new card, or maybe an after market cooler for it. I have two case fans and a artic freeze on the cpu plus the PW fan, and my CPU temps and MB temps are all good... Any suggestions?? For now i set it to keep the fan at 100% all the time.....

Yup that is the exact same issue...no errors just shuts off. Hmmmmmmm

Ya I did and all were good (CPU=44, and GPU=72). I thougth everything was good when I did the Bios update because it worked right after that, and I played for a couple of hours, but the next day the same things again.

Okay so I ran memtest with 0 errors, and then ran 3DMark06 and it did not fail/shut off.....so i uninstalled steam and then reinstalled it and then CS, and I go to run it and still when connection to the server my computer just turns off....Hmmmmm So I also updated the graphic drives and still the same issue...onto the BIOS and the chipset, but i am running out of ideas. I would have thought that if the PS was bad that the 3DMark would have cause it to fail when the load was put on it....

I like the Razor Copperhead, I have been using that for the last couple of years and had no issues with it.

Ya I have been trying to recreate it in other apps, and I DL'd 3DMark to run tonight to see if I can get it to fail, but it does not seem to fail on any other app; i even tryed the windows rating system test and all good. So I will try the 3DMark tonight and then go to the uninstall/install steam route..man that takes for ever..

So I can do basically everything normal on my computer, but when I start CS it goes to the screen where it says it is getting information from server, and maybe to the main screen and then it just shuts OFF. So I have done a system check and everything seems okay, checked the HD's, and still need to check the RAM, but I have a sneaking fealing that it is the power supply.?? Can anyone give me a little thought on this, had the same issue, etc.... Thanks

Well I went ahead and snagged another wrt54g from ebay for $23 bucks...so that will work.

ya I was thinking the same thing and for only about $35, which would work out well.

Okay so I have a wrt54g v.6 router now with the original firmwre. What I want to do is flash it with dd-wrt or tomato and move that one into another room and use it as a wireless hub to connect my DTV (and i could also connect the ps3, but I think ts own wifi connect would be better anyways). So I am looking at getting a new router to replace the wrt54g. I am looking for suggestions on what would be the best; gaming, running media server on the ps3 and online. I have looked at most of the normal ones like wbr-2310, wnr3500, and the dgl-4500...do the ones that offer simultaneous dual band connections better (does it really make a difference). Let me know what you think?

I am looking for a cheap pci-e card that has shader 3.0. I am putting a cheap box together for my buddy and put in an x800 but NO shader model 3.0 (crap). So I am looking for something cheap that works or I could put MY 8800 GTS in but then I need a new card but really would not want to spend more then $125 (for something that would be an okay upgrade) or I might as well just get him something like a 8600 (i think supports shader 3.0) Any help would be great.... Sry I am late, out of town until last night but did have a scale for Friday. It was not mine so I am not sure what this week will look like..good/bad...dont know... Anyways.... 203 for me.

No your right, I have been thinking of getting another one for another room to use in the same manner...but i think I will try the route of taking an series2 tivo i sitting around and zipper'n it and using it to stream movies to another room, should not realy cost anything. The PS3 route with TVersity works really well for me, to avoid the codec issue with WMP just DL vista codecs (goggle it), it is a great pack of free codecs that let me watch MKV's and h.264s just perfectly.

I have been doing just what you are asking for about 6 months now and it works great. Streaming HD to the PS3, there was some tweaks I had to do to get it work perfect, but doing that and using TVersity it works well, you can use the windows media server thing also but I seem to like TVersity because then I can play all my music and videos at work also. The best is then using the Remote Play with a PSP because you can then stream the video from the PC to the PS3 and watch it on your PSP and it looks great. Going on vacation, staying a hotel with WiFi, then connect psp to the TV in the hotel and stream you movies from your PC via the ps3 and there you go. Okay so I am in for $, and starting at 205. not bad only gained back 10lbs from when we ended last time. Laura had to fly to FLA yesterday for a funeral, she will be back on sunday and will put her weight in..(I told her she needed to REG on GC also, to make her own posts). YEA!! My goal is still the same 180 is the best but anything within a couple of lbs would be great!!!
