  1. Hey ZD! P3? I still stay up on the hardware scene (running an E4300 at 3.4ghz currently) but I've retired from gaming except an occasional Delta Force Extreme session. Check out this WoW setup - http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=498
  2. Heh, I logged in and saw that I had posted 3,700 times and I thought, "Was I really there that much?!" Now I start looking around and see Fatty's post count....
  3. FB to the rescue! Hey, I just learned that I'm cool because I'm old skool. Hey everyone!
  4. Some guy from the [H]ardforums made this: http://kingdooner.com:82/dell/ Keeps you informed within 3 minutes of a price drop on any or all monitors from Dell that you specify.
  5. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1077671 Look later in the thread for good links, valve is hosed right now.
  6. Doing fine... I'm [nearly literally] up to my armpits in computers in my cubicle today. I have 5 workstations up and running in my 8'x9' area. Trying to find time to do non-IT stuff here, I'm supposed to be an architect!
  7. It really depends on if you want a turnkey system or are willing to overclock and tweak a system. Overclocking has really never been easier it seems than now, and you can turn a $267 Opteron 165 or even the venerable $120 Pentium D 805 into an FX-62 killer ($1000 chip), check Tom's Hardware for their recent articles on this. Other questions for you to answer before taking this further are: Do you want/plan to run SLI? nVidia 7950 SLI on one card? What case/form factor do you want? mATX? ATX? How much hard drive space do you need?
  8. I just wiped Vista from a backup system here at work. Looks decent enough, but I couldn't get any Realtek network drivers to work of any version. Although I did get video workiing for an nVidia card. (Did you download the latest from nVidia Rev?)
  9. There is a cheaper FX-62, it's called the Opteron 165 (dual core, 1.8ghz stock, 2x1mb cache). Just get a cheap $267 one and overclock the bejeesus out of it. I've put a couple together and with decent mobo and ram 2.7-2.9ghz is easy on air.
  10. I've used about 20 Zalman 7700/7000-Cu's on systems and they are great, even on overclocked systems. One sitting in the Coolermaster Centurion 541 on my desktop here at work and I can only hear it if I try. Ewiz has them aobut $10 bucks cheaper than Newegg. I also like to use any of the "RV" Rosewill PSU's (Newegg's house brand), like thier 450w RV450S-2 for $36. They have some heft (not cheapie lightweight psu), 120mm fan, and super quiet. Only my Seasonic PSU in my HTPC is quieter. Zalman VF700-Cu video card cooler is another favorite.

I think I did HSX in 1998-9 or thereabouts...
  12. I looked last night and thougth I had some screenshots and stuff, but I just have some .dem files of MCC stuff. I've been more or less retired from gaming since last summer. I really maxed out on World of Warcraft trying to run our Lose Your Life guild and have some fun at the same time. Neither were getting accomplished. I got us around 250 toons in the guild (~100 accounts) and MCRanger, aka Lomar, has since nearly doubled that. I've spent the last 6 months reconnecting with RL friends and trying to have a life offline. My wife was getting tired of my WoW committement anyway, it's nice to spend time with her now. In September I was also given a big promotion at work. I'm an architect at a firm with a dozen people and we do about 80 high-end houses a year, usually the 4-8,000 square foot "McMansion" sort but with a few actual interesting ones thrown in now and then. I'm now in charge of the drafting staff, computers, network, Autocad setup, drawing libraries, and training. We just hired a n00b and are puting in a new server in the next few weeks so I'm busy. That's about it for now...
  13. Lomar, aka [Mmmm]MCRanger is running the show over at Lose Your Life with 385 toons and 186 accounts, if any of you are on Gorefiend.
