Just a quick update... I'm getting married on Saturday! Excited! And that's why I haven't been on here in months (planning wedding + planning for school = planning for an early funeral due to stress).

Hey guys, thanks for all the congrats! I just got back from Winnipeg, and was best man at a friend's wedding. It was cool being up close with everything that went on, thinking, "I like this, I dont like this, etc." We're a different couple than them, which makes sense as to why some of it I liked, some not. Did get some good ideas though.

Neither of us are drinkers, so we're looking at some sort of a hot-drink "bar" where you can get coffee, hchocolate, steamers, etc instead of booze. It will be december, which means cold.

And, unfortunately, the puppy is not mine, it's my dad's. BUT, on the plus side, when I want to get one, at the mention of GR puppy she'll have engagement, love, etc in mind, and she wont be able to say no!

Anyway, lots of work to do together. I want a hand in the planning, not because I really want my way, but because it's a great thing to do together - which really is what the rest of our lives is about.

And congrats to you too, samurai! When are you getting married?

Hey guys (and girls)! I've been out of town working at a summer camp (same one as other years), so this is my first chance on here. On August 7th I asked my girlfriend, Debbie, if she'd marry me. :) She said "absolutely" which I took as a yes.

I used a golden retriever puppy as part of the asking. His name is Thunder.

I had to use a fake ring to surprise her, since we had already discussed that we would go shopping together. I was at home for a week before she came (we worked at camp together). So pretty much in the first 15 minutes I surprised her with the question. It was awesome.

Last saturday we went ring shopping, and we got this one (still being resized).

Just thought I'd fill you guys in on why I haven't been around much. God's been really good, taught me a lot through her, and will keep doing so. She's an amazing girl. Right now we're planning on December 18th, 2010, and I'm teaching 9 classes this semester... prayers would be good.

I'm glad. I often need to remind myself too. God really is good! And that's why we really can trust Him. I look forward to meeting you in Heaven, Mr. Duke.

I've gone through (and am still coming out of) a very very dark 3 1/2 months. Not the kind of dark where bad things have been happening to me, but dark in the sense of... well... a spiritual darkness.

GOD IS GOOD. If you're doubting it, He really is. I promise. But that doesn't really help - He promises that He is. Even when you think He's super far from you, when you think He hates you, when you feel like you've fallen from grace, when there's no light at all, when you can't feel His love, when you doubt Him, when you think He's abandoned you -- He's still good.

And He's right there next to you. If you're saved by grace through faith in Jesus' work on the cross on our behalf, nothing can separate you from His love. Not even the distress you feel when you believe that you've been separated. Because your life is hidden with Christ in God. All of it is. God counts you as righteous and holy. Not because we just are that way, but because he declared us that way because of what Jesus did. It cost Him everything, it cost us nothing. In Christ we're counted as perfect already, seated in Heaven right now with God.

In case anyone else has been here - where most days you hear someone screaming in your ear that God has rejected you, that you have no hope, that He hates you, that you hate Him, that there's no way back to Him, and that you've fallen too far from Him for Him to ever love you again -- if He's saved you, IT'S NOT TRUE. Satan can use scripture even to attack you (appears as an angel of light) and try to slow you down or take away your freedom that is in Christ.

The book that's been helping me a lot is Isaiah, especially chapters 42-56 or so. I love those chapters. And the Psalms.

All in all - I want to say if you're struggling, hang in there. God is faithful. He promised He would be. And He is good like He said He is. Since He is, we can trust Him completely. Hang in there brother (or sister) because He'll show up. Like Job says - even though He slay me, yet I will hope in Him. And guess what - it's not your hope that's the final word even - it's His powerful right hand holding you up when you can't hold onto Him. He's got you still. He'll finish the work He started in you.

God is so good, and He's so faithful. I just want to encourage someone in here that might be doubting it.

I have the now very old E8400 and it works fine @ 3.6 or 3.8 whatever it's t right now. You can get the Q8400 for cheap and set it to the same speed. I think $200 or so?

Love my samsung, and it's old (was phasing out almost a year ago). Still love it.

It seems like the FPS world needs a jump start. All of the games since UT2k4 or CS:S haven't had the same level of popularity, and I was wondering what you thought would make "the perfect FPS".

 

For me, it'd be another hyperfast FPS with:

Double-jumps, double-sidejumps

Solid anti-cheat software built-in (no bloatware)

Dedicated servers

Bot support (for starting up servers)

 

What about the rest of you? What haven't the FPS game developers been doing that would knock your socks off? Or in other words, why haven't you found another UT/CS type game that has the "just one more game" feel?

I agree. They should make UT4, which is UT2k4 with updated graphics. Or dont update the graphics, I dont even care about that. It was such a sweet game.

So you woulda liked (or did like?) UT - which, if I had loaded on my PC, I would be playing. I havent been playing anything lately. Just horde once every week or two with a friend.

Have there been any games as fast as UT since 2k4? Everything else still seems sluggish to me.

My PP account got hacked once. Someone wanted IMVu stuff or whatever it was called. Anyway, I contacted PayPal and they refunded me quickly too. I closed the account I had until I needed to PP some money for the Haiti relief... Not fun.

I've wanted one of those for a while. Can't really convince myself to buy one, but I've only heard good things about them. I'm also from the country, so something like that makes a lot more sense to me than a Ninja. So I say go for it, unless you are going to be racing people AND wanting to win...

Yeah, I've switched to chrome too. It hangs for me every once in a while, then after waiting about 5 seconds and it telling me that that page doesnt exist, I hit f5 and I'm fine.

I like the minimalist concept for it.

I still say if Canada plays like they did against Russia, USA doesnt stand a chance. If they play like they did against Switzerland/Finland, USA will take it. Either way I'm hoping for a 4-3 game. Preferably in Canada's favour of course!
