  1. For all the UT players out there, I would like to ask you something. Ok, this my sound silly to you but I really am having second thoughts about it. Question is this... do I keep the ID of Primus or do I continue on with Lincoln6. I did have the thought of keeping Primus for just UT and Lincoln6 for everything else, but that might get confusing. Your input is actually greatly appreciated and very welcome on what you think. As I said before, this may sound trivial but it has been on my mind for some time now. Well, just thought I would throw it out at ya and see what you all think. I really miss everyone, and it feels pretty good to play with you all again. Thanks for letting me bend your ear a bit.
  2. After running Vista for a couple weeks now, great for application software, not gaming. UT runs good but with a big fps loss. I agree with the stress test on CSS. It went to crap with Vista. I took all my games off Vista and left them on XP. Been playing Rainbow Six Vegas lately and on vista with 1 gig of ram,---forget about it!! If you want to use Vista for a bit put it on a dual boot and just use it for apps, for now. RB6V wants 1gig of ram just for that game and Vista is already using 1/2 of that just to run. I do like some of the changes they made to it and some of the new little tweaks that come with it. My opinion, go with Ultimate and leave it at that. I mean if you want all the bells and whistles that it has to offer, and mind you some of them are really cool, then don't bother skimpin on the other versions.
  3. I got one better than flying pigs: I'll try to find some more.
  4. I'm also leaning towards the RAM thing. Just got Rainbow Six Vegas and SR's are at least 1 gig. THEY WEREN'T KIDDING!!!!! Now mind you i had to put it back on XP cause I could play for about 30 minutes and the stupid thing would bail out to desktop. So ya, I think its the combo of Vista and ram requirements. I put UT back on XP and I'm getting 60 to 80 fps and averaging 70. Most maps, and lowest i've seen so far is like 45-50. But then again I'm running 32bit XP with a 7800gt. Question though for you inner workings genious's out there. 250 gig Seagate on ata 100---slow down on drive access of not? Got it in with a WD 160 gig on ata 133. Now I know I need to go SATA but that has to be on hold right now, along with my 20" lcd monitor and extra ram. Anyways, see you guys tonight. I'll be on for a bit, same bat time same bat channel---that is if its still the same time 9pm EST?
  5. Stranger things have happend, lol. Not reallly sure but I'm telling you, it has enhanced the graphics to UT 2k4 somehow. I'm not talking like by leaps and bounds here but if I were to give it a % i would say maybe 10 to 15% more detail, at least on my end. Don't know what else it would be caus my system hasn't changed any where else but that. Anyhow, talk to you guys soon. BTW---does GC still have TS up and running? With the new format i for got to right down the IP #'s for some things and thats one of them.
  6. Ok, I guess I'm going to have to reload UT 2k4 onto Vista and get back into getting slapped around and just having some general all around fun. LOL Apperently I'm missing some good times here. Wentz, are you back into playing once in a while or just posting up? BTW--can I still play with all you big dogs even though I changed names New hard drive and Vista on the other half of it, and things start to get confusing. For those of you wondering, Games are pretty much installing and playing just fine. DX 10 has put a whole new meaning to the graphics in UT 2k4---- However, you might as well have 2 gigs of ram cause your gonna need it for all the vista stuff and games at the same time. One gig gets a rating of 2.4 out of 5 in an overall vista bench. I'll probably kick up to 2 gigs soon here. Rainbow Six Vegas is a little slugish on Vista. Most everything else is playing ok so far. I think the extra gig of ram should do the trick. See you guys soon.
  7. Well, they hyped it like mad at E3 and then nothing. Flitter has been doing pretty good in keeping up with it. Alas, last thing that I read about a month ago was that they are tearing it apart because the domination thing or what ever it was called at the time wouldn't work the way they wanted it to. Anyhow, Its all good as long as it doesn't turn into another Duke Nukem for Ever
  8. Ok, loaded up the 32bit version on a 20 gig to play with it. Will have the 64 bit version running possibly by tomorrow. The only game that I have played on it so far is UT 2k4, WOW, seeing things that were never there b4 even with my 7800gt. Weapons are more detailed and shots from the shock rifle and link gun are so much more vibrant. I'm not going to try CSS until i get the 64 bit version up and running. I'm hoping that it will really bring out the speed in my 3500+. Lets hear if anyone else has it and what they think. Very nice indeed, Still alot to play with but I've used the Media Center and I reallly like the way it organizes everything. Graphics are enhanced from what I can tell so far by about 15 to 20% just in pictures alone and so forth. Going to install Photo Shop 9 and see how we do.
  9. Hey buddy whats up. For starters I don't believe you are using a 250 what PS in that thing. Anyway, since you are going bigger on monitor also I would suggest looking around until you find the best deal. Shelf PC's can suprise you but i think I would go build on this one. There are several places to look at, New Egg, Tigerdirect, Zip Zoom Fly, and so on. You can even get a few idea's and then look at Price Watch to see how they fare in what you are looking for. To basics, I would look into at least a dual core CPU. If you go AMD start with the an AM2 socket with maybe a 4200 dual core--- http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...&CatId=2320 Not to mention it is SLI ready for when your ready. Oh and pay no attention to Wentz telling you to stay away from tigerdirect. You have to take into cosideration tha AMD has purchased ATI so you might want to keep an eye out for new video cards to come from them. Word is that they are working on some amazing stuff due out soon. Power is a key factor in my opinion, ergo---the more the better This is pretty nice and I like the power distribution it has---http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1273341&CatId=1483 Make sure you get a dependible HDD. The Raptor drives are nice but still a little pricey.--http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2368632&CatId=0 Video cards are coming down in price which is nice. You can get aN Nvidea 7950gtOc for about 280 now. My older brother just bought one and gets between 150 and 200 fps in Counter-Strike but averages about 125 all around. Got it for about $280. Anyway, something to think about, remember if you are looking at Dell and Gateway or whatever just remember where you stand without a Vid card, you always will have to upgrade there. You got it about right though, figure on about $700 to $800 for a good system. Hope I helped. Just did a fresh format, guess I'm gonna have to reload UT, pretty rusty though, will probably be doing a lot of dying--
  10. Oh yes, and my Team target/decoy lessons start this weekend for the low low price of $25 per 3/4 of an hour, ---- 45 minutes. And yes, I too am a professional at being a target/decoy---just look at my stats!
  11. I can get you a list of some good ones and I'll post up tomorrow.
  12. I'll go out on a limb here and try this. Try putting the original fan back on the gpu and see if they go away when you play. If so, its possible that the new cooler is to much for the card and is just causing some wierdness. Should'n be to much cooling for it but if all else fails try doing that.
  13. Not sure if any of you have found this but it is definetly worth downloading. Warrock.net download the client and register while you DL. Its pretty much BattleField but with a couple of nice extras. Four types of soldier to choose from but you can drive any vehicle regardless of what type you are. You also accumilate points that you can use to upgrade you weapons. Unlike battlefield 2 you are using counter-strike weapons. M4, deagle, P90, ak47 and so on. Game play is like battle field with 3 types of maps to choose from. Check it out, its worth the free download. The game itself will be hitting the shelves next month. Hope to see some of you in the servers. If you do pop in look for Lincoln6.
