  1. samurai, it does sound sweet as of yet but that thing is gonna be $1,000+ from the talk so far, quite the chunk of change.
  2. I've had a pre-release copy on our ESX box at work for the last 6 months that we've all dinked around with, haven't tried any sort of gaming on it obviously tho. It does have a new version of DirectX(11.1) along with a new version of WDDM(1.2) but I don't believe any games are out to utilize that yet. Can't imagine you'd have trouble with games as Windows 8 internally isn't that much different than Windows 7, maybe some older stuff or games that relied on Live. I'd imagine you'd see the same performance in games, or a bit lower performance due to the bloat known as Metro.
  3. radical, this has been covered in like four different threads on the boards. Server won't be updated till the new Bukkit comes out. If you're on Vista/7 and have it enabled you can just rollback. If not you can use something like this, I'd suggest using the Java version.
  4. Meh, it finally snowed here. Winter is finally here and I have to put the scooters away :(

  5. Look for a stand-alone device with speakers, or just something with RCA/digital out?
  6. Not much of a sales pitch And sounds like excellent deal, whats your steam name?
  7. I'd probably take both or just a single if it that's what left. Willing to trade upto $45 worth of games on your wishlist for each copy - whatever you'd like.
  8. Err, I rather have fun with CS:GO and seems to have better registration then CS:S ever did. I used this thread to set mine, and don't cap my max_fps. I set cmdrate and update to 128 typically, on some of the custom maps we've played I've seen my frame rate drop below 128 so I set 64 for both. As from what I gathered CS:GO servers should run their tick rates either at 64 or 128, if the server has a lower tick rate then 128 it'll default your client to that. I leave rate at 80000 as from what I gathered that should be more than enough. I find experience much less of the CS:S getting shot *after* I've gone behind cover. I don't have much of a machine, just a Core i3-2100 and a 6850 1GB with stock clocks and 8G of DDR3. I run at 1080p with 4x/4x and setting maxed out and I typically average 160fps. Machine running Windows 7 x64 and boots to 34 running processes, no antivirus installed. EDIT: I'm also on a typically very stable 50Mb Down/15Mb Up cable connection.
  9. I use cl_cmdrate 128 cl_updaterate 128 cl_interp 0 cl_interp_ratio 1 From what I've read if you don't consistently achieve over 128 FPS you should set your cmd and update rates lower.
  10. So I should warn/ban over this?
  11. Yea, using the + trick in your email address will apparently allow it, it's somewhere on r/gaming for directions.
  12. So I've learned you can boost onto the roof of the warehouse on the left side of CT spawn - they boost from the fence in the corner onto the roof of the warehouse, then off the roof to the fence on the far left side of CT spawn. Is this considered legal?
  13. You can actually get like 20-30 free games by clearing your browser history, and using a different email address. You don't even need a different one, if your email is foo@gmail.com you can do foo+bar@gmail.com and it'll recognize it as new email address even tho it'll strip the + and everything after it. Good thread about it on reddit.com/r/gaming if anyone is interested.
  14. Lookin' good man, please have radar on this one
  15. Yea, I use my Grado's when listening to music, if I'm gaming I have a el-cheapo logitech pair I use - probably both moot as I'm half deaf anyways.

voodoo, yea, I'd hope it'd practice some sort of "eminent domain" so that when roads needed to be upgraded structures would just re-align around them somehow.

    Simcity

Good point - I would hope not as zone density changes your infrastructure significantly in SimCity 4. Also, SimCity2K *ruled* - it was really laid a lot of the features of the whole series, SimCity just wasn't advanced enough. If you haven't played SimCity 4 I'd highly recommend it, just make sure you have nVidia video and a nice machine, when the large plots start getting over a million people you need some serious horsepower.
