  9. Ok gang, I'm back to it again...the secondary pc died, but, more importantly, I'm just not seeing what I want out of Source with my current configuration. What I need are Cujo and the rest of you building guru people to come up with a few proposals for me, 3 each. I'd love for you guys to hash it out and debate with each other because frankly, I just don't have the technical knowledge and am not up on technology parts n schtuff in the least anymore. So I'm relying on you. If you think I'm lazy, I'd called it more like efficient networking. I have other things to do with my time. More importantly, I know there are geeks and gamers out there that just love to mix and matchparts and pricehunt, especially on someone else's dime! So, here's what I need...the best computer you can put together for me in three different price ranges.... $800 $1000 $1200 So, basically, I need 3 from anyone who wants to participate: If you had $800 to spend, I go this way: and so on.... Here are my current specs again so you don't have to search and you know for sure I'm gonna feel the upgrade in PC: Here's some information to help you in your selections: 1) This will be for gaming, just about soley. The machine above will remain intact and works for imaging, video, etc. 2) Sound in-game is crucial to me. I use sound in CS:S more than anything else. Right now I'm still using an SBLlive. I don't care about music, symphonies, etc...I'm talking about the game sound. I have a nice headset by Seinhowitzer or whatever heinser they are (they're d/s, no I can't just look at em). 3) We have some time here. I'm counting on gifts from Christmas and my birthday, so we'll know more at the turn of the year.... 4) I have no allegience to anything, no names, nothing. 5) I need 2 HD...one smallish one to run the OS and general programs, then a larger one for everything else. ********* For the winner of the contest, or whose proposal my pc most closely resembles: You'll get $20 paypal from me for your time (not that everyone's time isn't worth anything, I just can't pay everone who posts here....) So, anyways, please take this seriously...it's gonna/gotta happen! THANK YOU!!

  11. Good price for this card. Less memory than the x800 pro refurb though and isn't as fast but perfect deal for you Nvidia fans who do not like ATI. You can see the item here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...106#DetailSpecs You can see Tom's hardware HL2 charts of this card compared to others to give you a good idea where it would stand with HL2 and CS:S. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2...ts-pcie-05.html

  18. Apparently the card is normally 300 dollars and if you buy the BFG 6800 OC now at Bestbuy which also has FarCry with it, you get an instant 50 dollars off making the card only 250 bucks. Sounds like a great deal to me.
  19. D-link Wireless G router $28 after $30 mail-in rebate. Not to bad of a deal.

How does this look for $276.32: ASUS A7V600 Barebone Kit ASUS A7V600, SATA Raid, S.462, 333/400FSB, Audio/LAN, DDR333/400, Retail Box AMD Athlonâ„¢ XP 2600+ Barton 640K 333FSB OEM Socket A Cooling Fan w/Heatsink 256MB DDR333 PC2700 Non-ECC Samsung Integrated 32AW SRS Audio Adapter Integrated 10 / 100 / 1000 Mbps Gigabit LAN Adapter ATX Beige MidTower 300W P.S. w/2 Front USB OR is this a better deal for $272.90: Create Your Own Kit: AMD Athlonâ„¢ XP - Mb&CPU Combo ASUS A7N8X-X, S.462, 333/400FSB, Audio/LAN, DDR333/400, Retail Box AMD Athlonâ„¢ XP 2600+ Barton 640K 333FSB OEM Socket A Cooling Fan w/Heatsink 256MB DDR333 PC2700 Non-ECC Samsung ATX Beige MidTower 300W P.S.
  22. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...Sku=TC1-XP-1011 im kinda in the business for a new comp.. any help?
  23. http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/con...04&kc=9&X=4&Y=9 Go to the above link, reduce all options to the bare minimum (selecting the $100 Mail-in Rebate) then hit "Update Price". After the $100 MIR, the price comes out to $139. Now, would I suggest doing something like this? Only if you don't have the wherewithal to build your own system. Why? Cuz Dell doesn't always use the most quality parts esp. in regards to their mobos or PS. But I thought I would at least get this out for those people who don't want to build their own system but want a new one on the cheep. <---DUH...cheap.
  24. Was a newegg special. Looked decent to me. For the bundle I mean, with the athlon xp 2500+. Comments? Suggestions on a better deal? I am starting to think about piecing together my own computer as money comes in.
