  1. Thread is obsolete, go here! Server address: gcminecraft.game.nfoservers.com:25565 Dynmap address: http://gcminecraft.g...rvers.com:8123/ Hopefully I'll see some of you in there soon!
  2. (Maybe NSFW) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsuVxvfS8lQ
  3. Whether it's griefers with dynamite or we are just running up against our VDS server limits with the other game servers on them, or we just need to space/overhead for the next L4D2 server - doesn't matter. Separate MC server now exists. Being created now. At the moment 10 players. We can go larger if needed. Not a problem. Aside from the usual requests for white listing and security, do you guys need/want the current world kept? It won't be deleted of course, someone could paste in the bits of the world as wanted later. Just curious if you want to explore again. IP/Address forthcoming, etc...
  4. Does the server run any anti griefing mods? It seems someone destroyed my house intentionally.
  5. http://www.reddit.com/r/minez Can we try this out? Maybe on a 2nd server? It's a Minecraft mod either inspired or made by the same people who did the DayZ mod on Arma II. It sounds really fun, and I'm gonna try to test it out on some other pub servers to see how it is. Pretty much only zombies are the mobs, and they are faster, see you from farther distances, and you go in search of loot in a huge world of which the farther north u go the harder the areas become to travel. There's towns, but they aren't too close together. Anyone else interested?
  6. Just updated bukkit to 1.3.
  7. Just has to download an update for minecraft today, then says server is out of date. Do we need San to update it? Is there a way I can update it? Just wanted to let you know!
  8. DynMaps - live, real-time minecraft world map with player locations, movements, health, and chat text - all available in your modern browser of choice. ALL BELOW LINKS WORK AS OF JANUARY 22ND, 2012 74.91.115.125:8123/ mcmap.gcftw.com mcmap.gamerscoalition.com http://gcminecraft.game.nfoservers.com:8123/ Chat *from* the web is currently borked. It is a IIS thing the developer may or may not get to. Move your mouse cursor to the right edge of your browser to float in the map menu where you can chose top down or perspective views, the cave system, or the nether world. It will also list all players currently in-server. Clicking on them will center the map on their current location. The hover menu looks like this:
  9. I am getting this error message every time I try to connect to the GC Minecraft server: Connection Lost Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection rest I have looked for a solution online, but failed to find one. I was wondering if anyone here encountered a similar issue and perhaps know a solution. Oh, and I am currently running version 1.2.5.
  10. Is our Minecraft server still up? I want to try to get back into it a bit but am hesitant to go at it only for it to get reset again the update to 1.2 from the other day. I want to tame a cat! Is the server up to date if it is still up?

  12. Everything cool? Two weeks and no posts... Everyone too busy building to talk?
  13. So we have a new way to troll in Minecraft, and I must say it's probably the best way to troll, satisfying for both parties involved... And of course I had to thank Hailfire for letting me use his own chicken eggs in his house while he was away. The server had quite a bit of lag after this so you have been warned. Hailfire started this by chickening me while I was afk in Minecraft one day and I believe he has screen shots also if he wants to share. Let's keep on chickening, keeps us all healthy, lots of protein!
  14. http://digiex.net/minecraft/mcvtool/ Download that, click options and download any version you'd like to, then at the mainscreen pick whatever .jar you want to launch. You can place whatever jars you want in your .minecraft/bin folder, so if you have some different mods that are incompatible with each other you can just make seperate jars and choose which you like.
  15. San is now in charge. MC is moving for the time being to one of our Chicago NFO servers. Part of the reason for performance problems on the previous server was the huge increase in map size with the newer Minecraft (file size that is) coupled with Minecraft running on the primary drive on the server which only has 11 gig of space; most of which was taken up by the operating system. Add in logs, windows updates automatically downloading, etc, and the last two weeks we were maxing the drive out. If we need to go back, I'll probably be able to get us rocking on the data drive and then no more problems. However... On NFO, we will have a much better CPU - so bonus there. On the downside, no Dynmap as that requires full access to the server and we are on a fully managed server in this instance. Sorry kids. With that, I'll turn you over to San. The current server is now off and the new NFO version should be up tomorrow afternoon/evening I'd bet. NO LOSS OF CURRENT WORK! San has our current map and only needs to upload it to the new server (btw the current map was 600 megs in size) Once it up and going and everything is "cool" San will patch in someone's dragon or building or whatever from our older Minecraft maps.
  16. I give up. I tried to fire up minecraft, and was prompted with the "WOULD YOU LIKE TO UPDATE YOUR CLIENT?", and like an idiot I clicked "Yes". Now I can't log on the server, since it is "outdated". I will never ever again update that stupid client. Now the Bukkit waiting game begins. There are many words i want to use right now to describe this situation, but I don't want to get banned from the forums after all this time.
  17. http://recordsetter....tive-mode/12744 though... effect is somewhat lost due to the lag :/ edit: doh, forgot to tag this under Minecraft. FK, how do I edit the tags post-post?
  18. http://www.makeuseof...necraft-server/ I am particularly a fan of the anti-cheating stuff. Not that anyone on our server cheats but this could keep newbies from mining straight to the diamond and what not.
  19. I'm soooo glad to have the GC minecraft server back, and it seems that most of us have been busy getting new stuff built up and homesteads established. One thing that I would like to see happen again though would be a larger "community" project. Thus far, I have felt that while the whole point of a multiplayer server is to interact with each other, thusfar it has mostly felt like I've been doing my usual things by myself on a map that happens to have other people in it as well. Sure, pleasantries are exchanged upon joining, and of course there was the epic demolition of amertrash's trap, but we need something to bring us together, kind of like the railway project from two maps ago. I understand a big reason this hasn't happened already is that everyone needs to get their own setups established first, but I thought we could get some brainstorming done in here so that when the time comes, we can get rolling on something epic. Starter Idea: A large mob battle arena! With all of the experienced mob trap builders we have, how about we take the spawning aspects of it, and instead of dropping the mobs into a grinder, we drop them into a obsidian-floored arena and let us grind out some XP against enemies that can fight back! I think this would be a much more entertaining way of gaining XP than the standard grinders, plus we could have audience seating and everything. I think this would be an awesome group project. If anyone else has any other ideas, post them here! Let's make our permanent map EPIC!
  20. More or less, starting and stopping while I debug DynMap (working at usual place but not pulling players, game time, or any movement/map updates) Behold! Topography as far as the eye can see. Spawn is just at the base of the mountain in the middle. A safe from mobs lava pool is immediately (as in 5 seconds away) to the south (south east in the image)
  21. http://bukkit.org/ Its finally updated to minecraft 1.0 So are we still gonna save chunks from old world and move it to a newly generated one?
  22. Some may find this useful. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/modloader-installing-minecraft-mods-easy/
  23. Looks like a great update and finally an official release. I do not have a link yet but it looks good from what I've read. Any plans on getting our server updated so we can start from scratch again?
