  1. My boss and another guy I work with have both been freelance photographers since they were in high school and they are really getting me into it. I went out for my first day of photography last weekend and took about 500+ shots in a few hours (digital photography rules). Out of those shots I got a couple that I really liked...thought I'd show em off here: http://www.photo.net/photos/iammrwright
  2. Check out this info: http://www.gamrs.co/forums/in...f=201&id=66 I've seen work from you guys. Lets try to get a few of these in....
  3. For this project we had to take a picture of our study buddy, then juxtapose it with a word. I went with "American Idle", and promoted his idleness. The process was taken from a Computer Arts tutorial. I just pushed it a little further. Computer Arts magazine is great exposure of digital illustration, and I find it all inspiring. American Idle
  4. C&C welcome. I'm putting links as the images are large. http://www.toddandkaren.net/temp/lainey/dresssit_rev1.jpg http://www.toddandkaren.net/temp/lainey/jacket_rev2.jpg
  5. I'm in a intro to computer imagery class, and for the last month we have been working in Illustrator. I chose New Orleans as the destination then we had to grab source images and compose the poster. We also traced from roughs and sketches. I had to sketch the trumpet player and the trumpet because the photos I had wern't at the angle I wanted. So in critique today that came up, so I may work on that on the weekend. Apart from that and a few out of place anchor points its ok. Streets with Soul
  6. For our art fundamental class we were given an open project about the body to be done in 5 weeks. So I went with an illustration composed of parts inside of the body. This is more on the microscopic level. So I just copied out photographs from medical books, and then added my own twist to it. The inspiration for this came from a designer called Joshua Davis and a commision he had for BMW as well as modern illustration. The final project was printed 22"x30" on glossy paper *drool* Body Project

He's a couple from a shoot I did on the weekend.(HDR at owners request) 1) 2) 3) 4) Hope you enjoy! -George
  9. i'm not sure what any of the means, but it looks cool. http://www.dslreports.com/r0/download/1057...ersaturated.jpg
  10. http://www.deviantart.com/view/34314242/ Saw some official art for the new Megaman ZX game for DS. Liked the two character designs that are supposed to be rivals of the main characters. So I made a wallpaper with them. Hooray.
  11. Its amazing how if you know the right buttons to push in PhotoShop, you can make a dull image much more appealing. I've been spending some time on the Fred Miranda site (linked in our sticky topic up there) and posting some images for critiqueing as well as figuring out what I like from other people's images. There are some really good photographers that post there. I posted a set out of the pictures I took of my family the other day and a fella responded with some PS actions and little tips that will help liven up my those shots. I originally thought they were pretty good. But seeing them next to some of these other guys' stuff made me realize they were a bit flat and lacking in the lighting department. Anyway, so I've been messing with some of his tips on other photos and what not. Here is the result of one I've been playing with. Before After
  12. This is one of my early attempts at logo design. Its political in reference to the G8 event that happens yearly. Well this year its in St Petersburg, Russia. So the idea was a political twist called G9 Logo. I was thinking of unifying the text a little more and maybe changing the 'D' in 'Leningrad' The exclamation mark is there in place of a trademark and I was thinking of adding it to work like a signature.
  13. Here's one of my first few attempts at HDR Imaging. I'm having lots of fun with this, but still learning. Lemme know what you think. -George
  14. So I know no one else has posted anything like this.. but this was the first piece ever I made in Jewelry and Metal Art class, made it about two weeks ago and I'm proud of it. Sorry if the picture isn't the best quality, my scanner is terrible. The earrings are shinier and started out as matte sheet metal pieces of nickel silver.
  15. I just picked up a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2, 5mp camera on closeout for 150 bucks!! The most impressive thing about it to me is the start time, you hit the button, and youre taking pics in about 3 seconds, shuts down just as fast! Also has a decent sized lens for a compact, with 6x optical zoom, plus image stabilization!! Watch the tool time topic for upcoming shots of my carpentry work!!
  16. Hey, Let me know what you guys think of this one. All input is welcome, postive or negitive. . Thanks! -George
  17. I just got this in the mail today. Took forever for Dell to ship it. You can see a review here: http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc...iew/index.shtml

  19. Was just reading an article on 'inspiration'. Click It! It discusses ideas and reactions to it and has input from people in art, music and film. Personally I find inspiration from researching and viewing art and design. I also find muisc very powerful source. The only inspiration from my min wage job comes from anger and in its rareity a good day. Being near the lake is nice too. Getting wired before bed on work or coffee works too. But now and then you get those ideas from some knee-jerk reaction. '...I agree with Thomas Edison: he said it's 99 per cent perspiration and 1 per cent inspiration. Basically if you put in the time focusing on your work, there's a chance inspiration will strike.'
  20. I know nothing of digital cameras. I have always wanted one and I want one that will take nice pictures and will be considered "ok" for the next few years. My boss (who is an amatuer photographer with 11 cameras some valued up to $6,000) has offered to sell me his SD400 with leather case and 512mb SD card and a few other things...he said he'd sell it to me for $220.00. Is that worth it? reference: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007TJ5O...5Fencoding=UTF8
  21. This fall / winter I'm planning on rebuilding my bass boat. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about painting. I'm gonna use a air gun and i want to get some metal flake paint but no idea what to do. And is there any kind of tape I can use that wont take paint off? Any websites or information would help. All I know is what I have seen on orange county choppers rofl.
  22. Gonna break these up into two threads. I took probably 700 pictures. These 8 I consider to be the best from the trip from an artistic standpoint. I will post many many more pics in the chit chat forums either later tonight or tomorrow for a more informational type thread. So, let me know what you think of these. 1)I did some experimenting with filters and this one for some reason I really liked. 2)Delicate Arch - The most famous of them all 3)One of the courthouse towers (I think) 4)This was at the entrance to Devil's Garden - Landscape arch is in here.
  23. 1)Pine Tree Arch 2)Another of Pine Tree Arch 3)Wolfe Ranch 4)Another of Wolfe Ranch
  24. The fam and I are headed to Moab, UT for the weekend. Should get some great photo ops here: Arches National Park and here: Canyonlands National Park
