Zap November 23, 2004 Share Zap Member November 23, 2004 Finished it too - loved the end when I could use the gravity gun to shoot their bodies around - hehe. Great game!
Guest zerodamage November 23, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests November 23, 2004 Finished it too - loved the end when I could use the gravity gun to shoot their bodies around - hehe. Great game! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> SPOILERS IN MY POST It was even cooler pulling their bodies into the electrical cores. That was the best. I do think I know what Part-3 will be about or maybe even an expansion if they do one. Remember the part where you and Alyx both teleport and show up a week later. I think that is time travel and the same goes for what the G-man says at the end and how he stopped time. I think that in part 3 you will someone be involved in time travel and maybe stop the explosion or something. Just an idea but I would almost bet on the time travel thing in the next game. TheBugs November 23, 2004 Share TheBugs Member November 23, 2004 Me too, its one of the biggest things in the entire game that they kinda just "blew off" and didnt worry about it.
bear^ November 23, 2004 Share bear^ Member November 23, 2004 I agree with yuh ZD! I hope they make an expansion! I dont wanna wait another 5 years... hehe Beat it! (on normal) time to put it on hard, and see how much tough'r it is
ConGregation November 23, 2004 Author Share ConGregation Member November 23, 2004 I was thinking about it today. Valve made this game fun! It was like candy every time I saw a flammable barrel (my mind just burped, can't spell that word, weird). The gravity gun made every firefight interesting. I'm trying to figure out ways to crunch guys or block their fire and run up on them. Then the all powerful crossbow. I nailed one guys foot. Looked like it really hurt just hanging there. The rag doll effects as guys were blown halfway across the map. Then the viagra enhanced grav gun at the end. I looked forward to seeing an enemy! Did any one else grab a dead body by the ankle and twirl it around over your head? The physics engine was incredible and made the game interesting from the very first train station. The plot and voice acting were decent. Not a big step up from other good games. The ending was kind of cool and the cinematical elements were well done. But without being able to pick up a frying pan and paste into the face of that dimwit sitting at the table, it would have just been like any other game. I have to say it was just plain fun. Looking forward to some really ingenious mods.
SwOOp November 24, 2004 Share SwOOp Member November 24, 2004 Hmmm. now that I think about it ZD, you may be on to something here, cuz if Gman is pimping Gordon out to the highest bidder, and there are 2 sides to this war, since we know Gman was talking to Col. Sheperd in the game and due to the ending, we can safely say the resistance paid the most for services rendered. But....... what with the freezeframe at the end and the time travel factor thrown into the game, perhaps the other side has up'd their ante and know Gman is going to send Gordon to the other side, so HL3 would be similar to how opposing force was to halflife. ConGregation November 24, 2004 Author Share ConGregation Member November 24, 2004 Well Gordon would only fight on one side of this war. No way could the Gman put Gordon into a situation and just tell him to kill such and so. And notice he has only used him in earth's struggles. bullet-401 November 25, 2004 Share bullet-401 Member November 25, 2004 I just beat it! Well.. the ending was a little dull. But hey! It was awsome in whole. http://www.chriserickson.us/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=

ConGregation November 25, 2004 Author Share ConGregation Member November 25, 2004 The stryder one is the only one I didnt see. I think. It was just changed a little. There were more stryders and you didn't come upon a group like in the video clip. I think the video clip made the stryders scarrier actually. They were pretty scary in the game but you could still take them down pretty quickly. It was just that there were soo many at once.
Nubus November 25, 2004 Share Nubus Member November 25, 2004 You think possibly that it was the other code that supposly got stolen and they had to re-write it?
Guest zerodamage November 25, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests November 25, 2004 THere was that one where you are on the roof and you use a nade to knock the dumpster off of the roof onto enemy below.. Casper December 1, 2004 Share Casper Member December 1, 2004 some minor spoilers for those of you who haven't finished yet. I finished yesterday, and I feel empty... I think the way that valve just stoped everything at the end was extremely abrupt, and kinda made me upset. I am not in any aspect saying that the ending stunk, or that I didn't like the game! I thought it was the best game I've played to date. It was just the fact of how intense everything was to that point, then everything was gone... I mostly feel sad that I finished the game... I wanted the story to go on. (kinda the same feeling I got from Empire strikes back, the first version, you know the good one.) I started thinking about what happens to alyx.. judging from what the explosion started off as, I'm pretty sure that she'll be dead, or will die. I don't want to have to wait close to the same amount of time for HL3, however, I feel somewhat conforted by the possibility of expansions. (I mean common... they left alot of room for more story.) There's also a single player mod comming out called the 7 hr war. I don't remember the details but that's exciting... On a sad note. After I have beaten it, I received notice from steam that death match and the full sdk was available... so I decided to go for it. Upon Steam updating, I tried to launch and nothing happens. The "preparing to play HL2" steam window pops up, the cd spins up and the hard drive cranks for a couple of seconds, but then nothing. It happens for hL2, cs:s, death match.... everything... I uninstalled everything last night and restarted installing before I went to bed. Anyone else have this issue? any sugestions? fyi, system: p4 3.2ghz ht 800mhz fsb abit board ati 9200 se Omega drivers samsung dvd-rw 512mb ddr ram

NyxErinyes December 15, 2004 Share NyxErinyes Member December 15, 2004 Can at last add my name to the list of those who have completed HL2. It was a fun game and was pretty, the hopped up gravity gun was the best thing in the game. My opinion is that the story, and especially the ending fell into typical Half-Life form and that is... they weren't that wonderful. I frequently found myself bored as I went running for 3 hours shooting things just so i could get a TEENY TINY blurb of story. I like this one better than I did its predecessor, but Valve continues to impress me as a lot of pretty pictures and no real plot. And yeah, the ending, I'll say it, sucked. But on the whole it was at least an interesting game and I found some parts quite enjoyable. GG Valve. I think my primary use of this thing though will manifest as CS:S.
