Wolfsblood December 15, 2005 Share Wolfsblood Member December 15, 2005 Heh. I'm one of the beta testers. Tried to play last friday, but they were having major server probs due to "an online event" they were running that night to stress the servers, and boy did they ever get stressed, lol. Things will get sorted out soon, I'm sure. Still haven't seen the inside of the game yet. Too tired, and or distracted to play. :/
Colonel Klink January 15, 2006 Share Colonel Klink Member January 15, 2006 Bumping this up, wondering if anyone involed in the beta can tell us anything good/bad about it? I'm really looking forward to D&D online.

Batman February 24, 2006 Share Batman Member February 24, 2006 I just pre-ordered and am DL'ing it right now to play in the head start.. Wont be playing it tonight though, its 1.56gigs and its going 50k a second.. Must be alot of people dl'ing it..
Unclean February 24, 2006 Share Unclean Member February 24, 2006 It looks pretty cool to me -- it seems to have the eye candy appeal of Guild Wars and the complexity of World of Warcraft. I just wish there wasn't a monthly service charge. :/
Batman February 25, 2006 Share Batman Member February 25, 2006 There are like a million servers.. Dont know which one to play on..
Rashad February 25, 2006 Share Rashad Member February 25, 2006 I havn't ever played Dungeons & Dragons, so I'm not sure if I'd like playing it online.
Batman February 26, 2006 Share Batman Member February 26, 2006 Its an awsome game, after playing City of Heroes for a while this blows it away.. One nice thing, for people in your party there is built in voice communication in the game.. So no more having to use TS..
Rashad February 26, 2006 Share Rashad Member February 26, 2006 wow that is sweet, is DDO out yet?
Batman February 26, 2006 Share Batman Member February 26, 2006 If you pre-ordered, they give you a "Head Start" key that let you play a week befor the game comes out.. And it gets every character you make a +1 amulet of defense.. The quests or missions are way more in depth than CoH, there is acually a Dungeon Master talking to you as you are playing the game.. Its almost like playing real dungeons and dragons, or as close as you can get.. Last night my sorcerer was in a group with a fighter, theif, and cleric. The group aspect is way better than other games cause without a cleric you literaly can-not heal, your life doesnt regenerate without using a rest area (1 in each mission or quest that can only be used once).. You can go back to the tavern and hang around, you regenerate while hanging at the tavern..
Brillow_Head February 26, 2006 Share Brillow_Head Member February 26, 2006 Sounds like good ole D&D to me. Also sounds like groups are more imortant
Batman February 27, 2006 Share Batman Member February 27, 2006 Well you can heal with potions.. I forgot to mention that..
Unclean February 27, 2006 Share Unclean Member February 27, 2006 I havn't ever played Dungeons & Dragons, so I'm not sure if I'd like playing it online. Same here. Is there any demo we could play before dropping $50 on the game?
Batman February 27, 2006 Share Batman Member February 27, 2006 (edited) No, there usually is no demo for pay per month games.. Just cause you've never played D&D doesnt mean you wouldnt understand the game.. You dont have to understand the mechanics of the game, cause the program does all the mechanics... You just have to know the limitations of your character, what he can and cant do.. And thats all in your skills/feats.. If you dont have any skill points in tumbling, then you have trouble running through a spiked floor trap.. If you dont have many skill points in Jump then you cant jump as far as someone else.. Stuff like that.. Edited February 27, 2006 by Batman
Unclean February 27, 2006 Share Unclean Member February 27, 2006 So with the exception of the demo, it sounds like the risk is like any other game -- buy it and see if you like it kinda thing.
Batman February 28, 2006 Share Batman Member February 28, 2006 I think the reason I like this game so much more than the other MMORPG's that ive played is the fact that there is NO lvl grinding.. Its more about exploring and adventuring with a dependancy on partying, I dont think there is a single character that can solo in this game.. As much as I love D&D, it can't take all the credit for that Batman. Guild Wars is exactly like that
