If you are wondering which shooter to get for your 360 this holiday, get this one, and NOT Gears of War. I just beat Gears of War and frankly, I'm not sure what all the hubbub is about. The single player is cool, but fairly repetitive and very short, and the multiplayer is a max of 4 on 4 with three game modes...? Am I missing something...? Yes, the graphics are amazing, and the gameplay/control scheme is great and well-balanced, but compared to what Rainbow Six: Vegas has to offer, I'm afraid it falls short. GoW is a great game and it shows what the 360 can do, but as far as replay value it just really isn't there compared to other games... And yes, the cover control system in R6:V is better. I played it on my friend's 360 and this game makes me wish I had a 360 of my own. I cant wait until the Wii finally gets a FPS worth buying.... I think the biggest draw for GoW on live right now is the pace...maybe it was just the demo but R6:V was mind bogglingly slow "so i'll just sit here in this shadow waiting...waiting...waiting...i thought i heard something...oh just a teammate...wai...." Ok ok...maybe you've convinced me to get it... Btw...anyone play the Lost Planet Online demo? aw man...insanity! I mean I could beat Doom in 'bout 3 (something like that, I don't remember). So I have to disagree that GoW is too short. Sure, I'd like it to be longer...but I think that stems from the fact that the game is incredible and I want more of it. I'm dying to play Rainbow Six: Vegas, don't get me wrong. They are, however, completely different games. Both tactical shooters (an emerging genre), but with different objectives, paces, and settings (obviously) In any case, I'm sure it is GREAT. I started playing Rainbow Six with the original and have even read the book twice. Maybe I'll hit up the rental store on Monday or something to see if I can get lucky enough to rent a copy. boiler December 2, 2006 Share boiler Member December 2, 2006 i finally got a couple hours to hit this game a little harder (only got to play for 15 min the day I brought it home). great game, very fun to play, and the cover and team movement and action functions are easy to control on the fly in the middle of a fire fight. whudats December 3, 2006 Author Share whudats Member December 3, 2006 I played the story until you first get to Vegas in the streets and rope out of the chopper, but since then I've just played on Live and it is a blast. It has a good pace, and if you can get in a good game, on a nice map, it can be tons o' fun. The tear gas is awesome, by the way, and really makes people mad! Unfortunately (boilersax) I had to / have to work this weekend, and then attend x-mas parties in the evenings, so I can't play until Monday most likely... I'm really diggin' this game though. Just about everyone's outfit online looks pretty unique, and the points/rank system isn't unbearably slow like in BF2. I tried using the voice to control my teammates in story, but I couldn't get it to be consistent enough to be effective. They kept "holding" when I would say "move." I LOVE my new 360 though, the controller is much smaller and comfortable and intuitive to use. I am starting to possibly like it more than my ps2 controllers... Oh yeah, GoW is an awesome game and I really like it, but I think Vegas is about right there with it. Some of the save points are a little more spread out than I would like, but it forces you to be smart about your assaults in the streets/casinos. believe me, when I finally get my 360 to an hdtv, I will be playing GoW first and foremost so I can bask in it's true beauty Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I haven't played the multiplayer yet, so I cannot speak as to the quality of graphics for it (plus all I have is a 27" 480p tv >_<), but the single player stuff is awesome. The cover control system is a little better than gears, imo mainly because you can do some rough aiming without exposing from cover, then pop out for a quick hs then hide again. so satisfying! You got that right. The cover system is great. And yes, I've noticed that the graphics aren't quite as good on Live as they are in SP, but I only notice when I play SP after playing MP for a while.
