ZeroDamage April 25, 2007 Author Share ZeroDamage April 25, 2007 This is the memory I am looking at regarding performance/cost ratio. Low CAS and a nice voltage range. The customer reviews looking promising as well as overclockability. Opinions? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820144062

ZeroDamage April 25, 2007 Author Share ZeroDamage April 25, 2007 It's orange. It does not matter, I am using the new Antec P182SE case. There is no side window; I am going for quiet and cooling with this case (and external cosmetics). As for RAM, this looks like it would be ok as well if the Geil would be a bad choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231087
dragonfly April 25, 2007 Share dragonfly April 25, 2007 I was just practicing my superhero power. Dark is my alias for my real identity: Captain Obvious. If it was me I'd buy the GSkill. But there are smarter people than me on here. Heh, another display of my superpowers.
boiler April 25, 2007 Share boiler April 25, 2007 I'd go G.Skill over the geil as well.
Preacher April 25, 2007 Share Preacher April 25, 2007 Geil is mainly known for it's OCing and gaming RAM. It's been around longer than G-Skill and is a trusted brand with good ratings and benchmarks. I personally have G-Skill in my current system, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy Geil.
ZeroDamage April 25, 2007 Author Share ZeroDamage April 25, 2007 I would typically chose the G-Skill as well but the Geil has better timings and seems to be very overclockable. I've had Geil before and it worked great. It is a little more than the $110 per g-gig pack from one of the other links but may be better worth my money in the long run. Cujo April 25, 2007 Share Cujo April 25, 2007 i don't oc my ram at all. i guess i'm just not into it as much as i used to. i run stock timings 4-4-4-12 at ddr2 800. 4gb is always going to stress your system more so pushing for that last few mhz would be easier on 2gb, though again would be easier on 1gb. at some point you sacrifice oc'ability for capacity. ZeroDamage April 26, 2007 Author Share ZeroDamage April 26, 2007 The way I see it Cujo is that I will start off with nothing but the CPU minorly overclocked and later when I want more performance or what not, I will boost the Memory. From the review at Anandtech, the boost in bandwidth does improve performance but not by much; it is something like 5 fps from the worst RAM they had to the best at the time which was the 1066.
