ZeroDamage June 10, 2007 Share ZeroDamage Member June 10, 2007 Do not forget to do a defrag of your head disks and run some spyware apps like spybot S&D and Adaware.
JackieChan June 10, 2007 Share JackieChan GC Alumni June 10, 2007 Are you gonna be out of luck if you don't have a 10 foot RJ45 cable and a 25 foot long extension cord? I think I have the extension cord somewhere around my house (not sure if it's around 25 feet), but I know I don't have a 10 foot network cable. Wolfsblood June 10, 2007 Share Wolfsblood Member June 10, 2007 The network cable is pretty much mandatory, as that's how your comp will connect to the network. You wouldn't need to bring it if you're renting one from Escape Play though, as they would have it already set up.
Xterminator June 12, 2007 Share Xterminator Member June 12, 2007 i take it that those of us renting computers have most of that stuff covered already?

Xterminator June 12, 2007 Share Xterminator Member June 12, 2007 Hey Fish can you edit your post and put like an asterik beside all the things that PC Renters dont have to worry about (that are computer related of course) I remember in the rental thread that headphones are provided with the PC is that still the case? Chimmpp June 12, 2007 Share Chimmpp Member June 12, 2007 They have headphones at escape, so I'd assume that they would bring those along.

I suggest AVG 7.5 as a virus scanner(whatever the latest version is) Ad-aware SE Personal for spyware/adware (whatever the latest version is) both are free downloads. Wolfsblood June 14, 2007 Share Wolfsblood Member June 14, 2007 Also Spybot Search and Destroy is a good anti-spy program, also free. 10' cat cable, under $
Cujo June 23, 2007 Share Cujo Member June 23, 2007 (edited) what if you don't run av software cause you don't get viruses??? if this was 6 months ago that would be the case for me. thankfully with my new job i get free nod32 which is excellent. i'll be selling it for $46.80 CDN (1 yr subscription) to anyone who wants it while i'm there. i still don't get viruses but i run it just so i can vouch for it to my clients. edit- i don't recommend spybot to anyone. when removed it doesn't completely clean itself from the computer and leaves a big annoying folder in your docs and settings, app data folder. Dingy June 25, 2007 Share Dingy Member June 25, 2007 10' cat cable, under $20 $20? Even cheaper than that...
Wolfsblood June 25, 2007 Share Wolfsblood Member June 25, 2007 Last time I bought cat cable was probably 3 years ago. I figured I was high on the price, but wanted him to know it wasn't overly expensive.
JackieChan June 30, 2007 Share JackieChan GC Alumni June 30, 2007 Whats the minimum amount of cash we should bring? Or I should be saying, are there ATMs there? (probably, but never hurts to ask)
Wolfsblood June 30, 2007 Share Wolfsblood Member June 30, 2007 There was an ATM in the lobby of the hotel the last 2 years, so I'd guess it'd still be there. Fee was somewhere around $2 per transaction. You'll want enough money either on hand, or accessable from the ATM to get food, drinks (that which you don't bring with you) any for any extra-curricular activities you take part in. simple answer, I usually don't bring much cash, just get it from the ATM when needed. Ewerd July 1, 2007 Share Ewerd Member July 1, 2007 (edited) how much is the 10' network cable? For example... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812609112 14' Cat5e for $1.99 + S&H If you go to a retail store, you'll pay nearly $20 for the same thing except it will be Belkin or something similar. The truth is that, regardless of brand, it is still copper rated for 1 GB/s run through uninsulated rubber/plastic sheaths. I wouldn't place too much importance on brand. On a side note, and to add insult to injury, only (I believe) 4 out of the 8 provided wires are used. The less you pay the better value you're getting, basically--and I mean that beyond the obvious reasons.
