What settings do you recommend for me? I just reinstalled CSS

 

Old cruddy comp, VERY fast fiberoptic cable:

 

Netgraph 3 shows

 

FPS: 25

In: 4880

Out: 70

Choke: 200

Ping: 32

 

 

As you can see, I am "lagging" horribly. Whats going wrong here?

thx for the posts guys. yes, I know that the choke is what is causing the lag, I want to know what settings will fix it?

 

HeyZD! System is old. Cant remember. I think Asus MB, AMD 2600, 1GB Ram, Radeon 9800Pro 256MB.

 

The problem just started when my steam quit working, so I un-re-installed Steam with CSS.

 

So...settings prob or do I need to totally reformat my comp. Its only been a year or so since I did a total reformat.

You probably had a custom config for your cs that made it run better fps wise. You seriously need a system upgrade though. Not sure how much better your fps can be made. Make sure that AA is disabled in the advanced video settings and turn down all of the other stuff in there such as shadows and what not. I think they are turned on by default with a fresh install of Steam.

this sounds like a good place to start. ill check my vid card settings and tweak the in-game menus. anyone wanna post up a good config file, or settings?

I haven't been playing CSS much but ive been popping in now and then recently. I had the same problem, jump in and pwnd by everyone. Not saying that I'm any good anyways, but I play for the fun. If I get to kill M2 or some of you other guys, then it was all worth it. :biglaugha:

 

So I got to looking around for some tweaks and what not and found this autoconfig. I think its from like 2006 but its CAL specs and I get from the 90's to like 120's and 130's in fps and no choke. It might work well with that system without having to fork out any cash for now. It works pretty good for me but I'm running dual core and an 8800gts 320mb.

 

 

Here ya go, and if there are any issues with this, please feel free to let me know. I don't want to be running anything thats going to give me problems. So you big guns out there from the GC post up.
