Jibbajabba March 28, 2013 Share Jibbajabba Member March 28, 2013 So how did Pittsburgh get Iginla for two so-so prospects and a late first round pick? I would be really be steaming if I was a Bruins or Flames fan right about now.
Flitterkill March 28, 2013 Share Flitterkill GC Board Member March 28, 2013 Iggy had a no-trade clause. He got to pick where he went and he had a short list - LA Kings, Boston, or Pitt. They had to pull the trigger on this, he's 35 with an expiring contract. Any offer they took and Iggy was fine with was better than what they would get after the season which was nothing. Jibbajabba March 28, 2013 Author Share Jibbajabba Member March 28, 2013 I understand that he had to be traded but how could Boston have not offered better? It sounds like they simply let him pick Pittsburgh over Boston from the articles I have read, regardless of what each team was offering. Peckles March 28, 2013 Share Peckles Member March 28, 2013 Well, yeah...Iggy had all the power there, and he preferred to go to Pittsburgh. I would think playing with Crosby had a lot to do with it.
