Nice, I like it
Thanks. What was nice about the teacher's critique was that she said I should hang on to it for my portfolio. My main goal in school is to get a good portfolio so I can get work as soon as I graduate, even earlier if can be.

I'm in a intro to computer imagery class, and for the last month we have been working in Illustrator. I chose New Orleans as the destination then we had to grab source images and compose the poster. We also traced from roughs and sketches. I had to sketch the trumpet player and the trumpet because the photos I had wern't at the angle I wanted. So in critique today that came up, so I may work on that on the weekend. Apart from that and a few out of place anchor points its ok.

One of the things i like the most about it is its use of colors, you use some of the ugliest colors known to man, you got like Mango Orange, Pea Green, even worse Pea Green, and like.. Torquise.
But the colors really compliment each other well and it looks solid. thats why i like it so.
The colors were taken from Joshua Davis' Z4 commision for BMW. I liked them so much I had to use them. I also like the idea of using color to define space, and in using a small palette you can unify the piece easier. But yeah, truly ugly colors

Very cool. Love it.
Thanks. It was well recieved in class critique yesterday. My teacher said it was something that could become a series. And I was thinking that too. But no time at the moment.

For our art fundamental class we were given an open project about the body to be done in 5 weeks. So I went with an illustration composed of parts inside of the body. This is more on the microscopic level. So I just copied out photographs from medical books, and then added my own twist to it. The inspiration for this came from a designer called Joshua Davis and a commision he had for BMW as well as modern illustration. The final project was printed 22"x30" on glossy paper *drool*

This is a nice movie. From begining to end its action packed with hardcore violence and complete with gritty, twisted and perverse characters. And all that takes attention away from the plot and the McGuffin. And the McGuffin being the snub nosed revolver in this case. But thats cool cos these characters are hard to like and hard to watch at sometimes. So thats why I liked it. And its been compared to Pulp Fiction and Resovoir Dogs, if you dont know much about it.

Yep its good to hear that your back Shadow.

I checked out a match in progress once but never played it. Was your game handle JackieChan/Jackie_Chan. Cos Ill add you to my buddie list and join you in a server. Mines straight up at_thedrivethru. A game mod that I liked was Assault. But youll find some servers running vehichle race maps on them. They were good. Despite the lag and the horrid mouths of teen players.

Some pre E3 stuff here. I think E3 starts today and there is mention of more UT07 being shown there including another demo. This invterview includes pc/ps3, game modes, weapons, the online community and also some new screenshots. Check out the necris vehicles.

This is one of my early attempts at logo design. Its political in reference to the G8 event that happens yearly. Well this year its in St Petersburg, Russia. So the idea was a political twist called G9 Logo.
I was thinking of unifying the text a little more and maybe changing the 'D' in 'Leningrad'
The exclamation mark is there in place of a trademark and I was thinking of adding it to work like a signature.

Thanks for the info Assassinator. Ill start checking it out

The only japanese band I can tell you straight up I like is Mono. Awesome chill-lax type stuff. But you seem to be in the know. So for j-pop/rock are there any songs from those groups you mentioned or other that would sell the genre more? Cos Im curious.

Yeah Silent Hill is how I like my horror. Twisted and somewhat disturbing. I dunno bout you guys but I enjoyed all the Silent Hill games. And yeah pretty happy at the moment knowing its out soon. From the trailer it looks like its based on the 1st with some lady replacing Harry but it keeps the 'world' music soundtrack and sirens. Nice!

Was just reading an article on 'inspiration'. Click It! It discusses ideas and reactions to it and has input from people in art, music and film.
Personally I find inspiration from researching and viewing art and design. I also find muisc very powerful source. The only inspiration from my min wage job comes from anger and in its rareity a good day. Being near the lake is nice too. Getting wired before bed on work or coffee works too. But now and then you get those ideas from some knee-jerk reaction.
'...I agree with Thomas Edison: he said it's 99 per cent perspiration and 1 per cent inspiration. Basically if you put in the time focusing on your work, there's a chance inspiration will strike.'

Yo! Check out 'People in Planes'... 'If you talk too much my head will EXPLODE'
Also check out your local cable listings for 'The Tube'. A good variety of popular music. And is true music television

I think you mean very large map
I DL'd this two days ago - still toying with throwing it up.
Nice touch in that when you call an air strike, air raid sirens go off for the duration.

Oops yeah I meant large map. So what do you think, would it make a good pub map? Is it worth a shot?

Late May would be nice.

Heres a new map that could get some quick games: ONS-DG-Fallout
Its a very small map set on a post apocalyptic island. Very pretty . The alternative node setups could also make the map more challenging. So give it a whirl!

At the Hayward gallery in London they are exhibiting work of Dan Flavin. Flavin used fluorescent lights in a minimalistic compostion to portray his subject and ideas.
Here is his ubermicrosite Dan Flavin
You can also see some of his work here at The Guardian newspaper. Theres an especiallyy nice picture that includes a visitor to the gallery

Like you did you Diablo 2 game... I probably won't be joining in that PVP weekend thing. I don't really like PVPs that much.
I kinda hear ya' on the PvP. Not a big fan of it too. But I think it'll be a fun weekend and it'll give you some insight into the Factions pack and whats to come. So I think ill try it out. Anyone else?
American Idle
in What's Up?
For this project we had to take a picture of our study buddy, then juxtapose it with a word. I went with "American Idle", and promoted his idleness. The process was taken from a Computer Arts tutorial. I just pushed it a little further. Computer Arts magazine is great exposure of digital illustration, and I find it all inspiring.
