Unclean-I was thinking of a kitten since Wentz will shoot through a baby. I think I hit the ground when flak ball arrives so shield gun be limited.

Dingy-Not all benders are me, and my last three kills of your raptor were not in a bender. You helped me develop a good distance raptor tactic involving avril and two lightning shots. Ps don't charge me after getting hit with avril, makes lightning gun shots easier for me. You are still far better than me in tank tactics. I get killed by wentz in a tank easily.

Tek-Don't know where he lives so can't burn his house down. Know city but morally against the use of weapons of mass destruction (just too messy and what fun is it)

Primus-Does Wentz lose points when I sucide? Have to remember the nostromo key for suicide.

Wentz is employing an new tactic on my helbendering. (Usually he damages all helbender to an inch of life so I waste time repairing them).

He rams my helbender on a cliff from behind with his raptor. As it rolls over and over (dizzy), I bail out so I can shoot. He bails out of raptor above firing flak balls. Since I am falling straight down, Wentz is falling straight down above me, and flak ball is being shot straight down at me, I am unable to dodge (I am falling remember) and die. He has done this two times and cannot think of a tactic other than find a cliff he can't sneak up on me which would take me out of the action.

Any ideas guys? Have some but would like an anti Wentz tactics that you guys have found effective.

I will remember this Primus. I found that on crossfire all I do is support in helbender. It is kind of like a cartoon during scrims. Darks movie he made shows all the gc guys flying squishing shooting building. Reminds me of the tazmanian devil that spun around visiting destruction on everything in those Bugs Bunny cartoon. Needless to say, the other team doesn't know what hits them. All I am doing is sniping center node with helbender. I look like I belong to the second olympics with what I support on that map. By the time I move my helbender after center node locks, I am lucky to frag anyone on the other team before the game ends.

I am trying something new on Crossfire. I find a snipe point that does not give me a wide range of fire but is focused on a well traveled path. Only get one shot in but they have no clue where it came from. How much charge to frag someone on foot I am still looking into. You are mentioned as being sneaky at helbender sniping so will like your info on it. Two helbenders sniping can really do damage to an opposing teams movement. It is hard to get guys on foot but large maps and no vehicles mean they have to hoof it and take longer to make an impact against us.

Sounds like you like to shoot at people when they are not looking or are preoccupied. But really, it's easier to nail a hit like that then if you were trying to dodge their hits at the same time. Some maps you can bender snipe forever and no one cares and at other times they seek revenge. Communications are your worst enemy. you can snipe forever on a server like SCK where there are no voice chat but you might not last long on our server if your enemy knows how to use the mic. Just boils down to who you play and where.

 

Connection has a lot to do with missing your target also. Be it your ISP or someone elses on the server.

 

But a in the wize wordz of Wentz, play to have fun. And if you ever feel the need...play on a demo server.

"Shooting people when they are not looking......." My motto is "When facing better players be extremely sneaky". I have an idea, when you are about to shoot me give me a heads up before so I know where you are. I feel that your parking of our raptor directly over my helbender would not be as effective with a little warning

Do you know how hard it is to hit someone with helbender when they are aware of you? Experienced players I find are impossible to hit when they are aware of you. Hard enough when they are deathmatching at a node dodging but possible. Takes about 3 tries to hit someone. Only way I can kill Wentz. They take the incoming fire that misses as fire from dueling opponent nearby. I agree communication by other team members a major problem to helbender sniping so need to move around. My priority is to kill vehicles like mantas, raptors, helbenders, and wound tanks (since they kill me) as well as (attempted) node suppression.

I hate tech guys who have no clue as to what they are doing. Ever think about a paintball gun? You can wack them over the head like you want to with it but has the added use of reaching mediacom techs on the pole. Get the pleasure of punishment without the finality of death.

I practiced for a week before revealing this so as not to get excessive attention from you guys.

I was on the other night Dingy. You fragged my helbender on Arctic enough that I decided never to use helbender on that map. Helbender better on some maps than others. I am looking into sniping stationary mantas with lightning to get fragged opponent but usable manta.

Recently, I have had horrible aim. I have tried everything including changing my name to novICE to see if GC members are fragging me just as often or just experienced in the fragging of MaDPaT from my specific playing style.

I have been adjusting fov, mouse settings, ingame settings, etc. Always trying to get something that works with my hand eye coordination to hit fast moving targets like Dark, Bushwack, and Wentz. I have finally come to the conclusion that in deathmatch mode I am rather weak but at distance I am much better. I am more comfortable sniping. I have relagated myself to fov 80. True, it is tunnel vision but I have something larger to hit and my hit/miss ratio has drastically improved. I mean like a factor of 4. I got 32 helbender turret hits and a few of them were multi kills in 3 seconds. Helps that vehicles and opponents have low health from previous damage from others. The number of people on foot was sick. I got a few of them on first strike. If I miss gc guy and give my position away, I may as well kiss me and my helbender good bye. I can even do shock combos in a limited way.

True, you have no peripheral vision left or right, but when Wentz is charging you do you want a small bodied Wentz or a larger one to hit? I still get killed alot but I am atleast fragging experinece players on the occasion. I could switch fov back and forth with my nostromo but do not want to hurt my aiming.

What do you guys think?

Not much time notice. If few days earlier, Dark might have been able to make it but he is gone to camp for summer. I can play but not sure about others.

Thanks Dark and Tek. I will do it in installments. Do not what to end up with a puddle of cpu material. What you all mentioned corresponds to info I have been gathering. I do not have a HSF as good as yours dark. Will not go as high as you on overclocking. Will get software to register heat and benchmarks as you stated. Thanks again for memory info, Dark. My research hasn't covered oc steps necessary with memory modules. I am currently dissectiong a IGN article cause it covers 680i mobo with standard eom hsf.

Thanks Bushwack and Primus for fast response. I am a little afraid to put in a new heatsink. If I can oc a little with standard eom cooler I will be happy. I will look into googling guide for overclocking with my specific motherboard. Should have the software for it somewhere. Have seen info about 1.8 ghz being oc to 3.01 ghz with standard eom cooler.

Primus don't forget about the Flux Capacitor for new system. That way you can go back in time over and over to fix what you did wrong during play. Will be really useful say firing 3 rockets to a spot you know Bushwack will be arriving at or placing grenades on vehicles just before game starts and other team spawns. Some tweeks and you can stop player motion without them knowing or reverse their flakball back at them. They will think you are firing at them when all you are doing is sending their own shots back at them. Not only kills opponents quickly but saves you on ammo.

Just OC it to like... 2.8 or 3.0 and open up coretemp and let it log while you play. It was super hot in my appartment on saturday and my cpu got to like 58 for a little bit. Meh. But my volts are up, you dont need to increase voltage (shouldnt) to get your OC to 2.8. Just unlink your fsb from your ram in the ratio timings and bump up your fsb.

Ever feel like you think in addition and the people around you explain things in advanced calculus? What does this mean? "open up core temp and let it log while you play" "unlink your fsb from ram" "ratio timings" "bump up fsb"? Going to 2.8 with eom cooler with these directions sounds very good to me? A little more step a, b, c, d, will be highly appreciated.

I haven't oc my system due to using chip cooler fan supplied since unsure of room available. Was hairy for me to put pc together in first place. How much oc can you do with supplied chip cooler fan? How hard to install new fan? Do I need to take mobo out to install or not?

A new cooler should be as hard as installing the OEM one. But some are a little trickier but same concept. You can overclock with the stock fan a bit but it will be hotter/noisier. What CPU you running Madpat?

I have a 2.4 Core 2 Duo chip and a mobo nForce 680i SLI. I got a "nine hundred" case since only one that fits desk compartment. Another reason I put in a 8800gts and not larger 8800 gtx. Will dimensions of cooler be included to see if room available. My system matches dark's except for his larger case and HSF.

Bushwack"s son Lil Bush has been playing off and on Nepenthe recently. Fortunately for me, he is not as good as Bushwack. I was afraid was going to get tooled by a 12 year old. He is young and will improve over time. We should say hello since he is playing stiff competition. In hello, I mean type it. Not the GC newbie method of continuously killing you over and over.

I think we could come up with better names since Bushwack named Lil Bush.

Get a 8800 now and a second one and a new CPU/Mobo when the game comes out. By then the 8 core chips will be out and I can afford a quad Celeron.

 

Nah. I have a dual core already OC'd to 3.4 and it's plenty fast. I'll prolly just get a quad core if i really need it for the game, cause the quads are also great right now (intel's) and they'll be cheaper then too. Nah, I'll just get the 8800 later on after the summer's over. Wont use the pc all summer anyway.

We got killed badly last scrim on Ascendency. Mostly me. I died in new and faster ways. Your raptor shredded my heldender over and over . Need to get more effective in raptor defense. I have some ideas concerning your manta that your team sends to our primary for harassment . I am up for the 18th but we need the scrim just as bad on this map.

That video was INCREDIBLE. I am going to watch it every night with a beer until my eyes start to bleed.

Like the fragging to music part. I got to find out how he does this. I am going to look at the reviews for the software he used.

It will not be the same without Dark for the summer. We are going to have to provide Darks Target -Dingy with the attention in fraggage he will be losing due to Dark's absence.

Very little has been added by the gc UT2004 community lately.

We must all be coming to grips with Dark's embarkation from GC community. Dark will soon be off to camp to teach young ones proper music appreciation. We will sorely miss him. His presence is always felt on the field. Multi dodges, shock combos (I HATE THEM), driving over people, etc. Just yesterday he was

protecting me from Bushwack.. Many a time Bushwack was about to administer the "coup de gras" to me, that Dark comes out of nowhere and deals Bushwack a mortal blow. My hero will alas be gone.

He is going to miss us. He has started his personal ut2004 Cold Turkey. He plays but does not communicate on ventrilo or make any input other than typing gg or fragging multiple people. He is clearly trying to come to terms with a summer without UT2004 and doesn't want us to hear him crying.

We gc members should offer as much emotional support as we can as he goes through this trying time and the summer he faces in the future. Possible ideas are dvds of our scrims that he can play on dvd players. I already though of a few titles "GC implosion on UT Ladder" or "Multiple ways that MaDPaT is killed on UT2004" to lift his spirit. We could send screenshots of how good be look facing adversaries without Dark. These a just ideas, but I think Dark is worth it.

They're the testers though. I bet you I can pwn all of the testers for 2k4 right now with my keyboard and mouse. I think it's a steeper learning curve (keyboard + mouse), but has a much higher peak than a controller. I mean, I can bind any single weapon I want (all of them) so that they're all extremely accessible. I know it'll be a different game than 2k4, but the good pc players will be pwning the good 360 players.

 

Of course, if cross-platform play will even be an option.

Steeper learning curve and room to grow. I added nostromo, 8 button mouse, and larger monitor. Next investment, when available, will be one of those reticle targeting systems like you see on apache helicopters where your eye aims for targeting. Now wont that be scary. Skill is all and good but getting killed way too fast by some of you. Need to put a little fear into you.

I told you thats why the changes ut2007 to ut3. They have no time restraints. My new computer system will be antiquated by the time game comes out if ever.

I just had an epiphany. If you can go into console to increase your fov beyond what is offered normally, can you modify your mouse sensitivity also? The settings allow you to jump in steps of .25 for mouse sensitivity. My idea is to adjust the sensitivity to match my hand/eye coordination as opposed to learning to adjust my hand/eye coordination to shoot at a .25 sensitivity step. Fov 80 does help but not quite right.

Any ideas on what to type in console? MSG 1.56 (mouse sensitivity game 1.56)?

My idea could help me but then again make you guys more lethal. Then again most of you are pretty lethal so it should help me more.
