  1. If this show were on American television, I would watch it.

We got "America's Got Talent," but the only thing that show has in common with this one is the male judge, Piers Morgan. I'm pretty sure our version stank. :biglaugha:

Everywhere I turn i can't escape the Susan Boyle videos. Its swept over the nation like a friggin virus. And all just because she isn't attractive. Same with Paul Potts. Score two for the ugly people.

I watched her video 2 or 3 days ago too, and the television shows won't stop talking about it unfortunately. :smiling2: I think it was more of her voice when she spoke in comparison to how she sang that confused me. I actually didn't pay attention to how she appeared or how old she was.

  2. Nightling, is that a keyboard in your weapon stash? Lol, how does that work? :biglaugha:

In other news, I'm getting beat most of the time now. If I pick someone with low health or lower stats than mine, they usually have like a dog or 5 weapons in their stash or a mega awesome skill. If I pick someone who is at my health level or equal stats, they basically outlive me or crush me with a hammer. Plus, my dude keeps throwing his weapons away...idiot. ;)

  3. So when does my brute get a pot pipe?

    art_111.png

Lol, the first thing I thought of when I saw that picture was that he was holding a kazoo, although that's equally as strange as a pot pipe. :biglaugha:

  4. By the way, that toad CNN reporter got confronted by some of the Tea Partiers in Chicago yesterday. Wow, I pretty much just saw that for the first time and avoided it because I knew it would tick me off to see her belittle the majority of us by pointing out a few rare examples. http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/16/awes...fter-hit-piece/

I can't stand that reporter woman. She clearly is not unbiased like a "good reporter" should be. She is smirking and laughing at everyone's face and showing her personal biased views and arguing with people rather than listening and letting them speak. Her job is to report, not to debate.

Not if they are liberal. The only biased reporters are those at Fox News.

    http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jh...de-Tax-Protests

6:08-7:18- You can skip the first part of that clip if you think Stewart is biased and don't want to hear it, but he does criticize that CNN reporter (I think it's the same one you guys are talking about) for faulty reporting around 6:20-7:18; 6:08 just sets up the context of the joke, which is why I labeled it.

This is a good write up of what the tea parties are about...of course...by Glenn Beck:)

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,516476,00.html

I don't believe that any reporter is not biased...it's human nature. I do think some are going a bit too far with it though. It's ok to protest Bush but not Obama? It's ok if Democrats protest but Republicans can't?

This is nothing that didn't happen while Bush was in office...just the shoe is on the other foot.

Beck mentions both Bush and Obama in those two articles, which is at least an honest assessment in a way. I find in those two articles a bit a of a flaw though, as in that previous article you posted about Beck's view of Guantanamo Bay prisoners being released a while ago. I don't find the stances he takes objectionable, but he appears (to me anyway) to have strange reasoning and rhetoric.

The second article is especially odd, with the Homeland Security Assessment. He claims from that document that people like him are being accused of being "extremists." He doesn't mention the specific context of the statements he quotes, nor does he explore the possibility that Homeland Security is merely trying to identify if there is a trend or not concerning opportunistic individuals and groups that exploit the situation by employing violence and hate speech rather than argue the merits of their cause; Beck and others like himdo not appear to fall into that category.

I don't see a direct attack on "tea partiers" or average people who take issue with the economy in the Homeland Security piece. It seems like he's inviting an attack or assuming that the document is specifically criticizing people like him; anyone who reads his article but not the actual assessment may assume that. He's drawing a conclusion of intent by the government, but I'm not seeing a direct correlation between what the assessment says and what he writes.

Granted, some here will argue that "extremist" is merely a term, a figure of speech. It is, however, a loaded term, whose meaning is being muddled when he uses it in that context (as a label that he assumes is being grafted on to him). He may be using it only to color the language of his writing, but it is bad political writing to do so.

  5. What did the guy in the matrix say about humans? A virus that destroys it's host or something?

I might post here later with a response when I have more time. But to answer Gond's question:

    EDIT: Trying to embed Youtube.

  6. I saw this clip once before, but I seem to have forgotten about the advertisement of CS Online. Erg.

I did hear about a Japanese version of Counterstrike that was modified a bit from the original a while back called Counterstrike Neo. It supposedly punished campers and such and encouraged teamwork using a point system of some kind. I forget the specifics though. It also had a different look to it in terms of models and graphics. This is unrelated to Counterstrike Online, but nightling's article reminded me of it.

0:35- that CT got owned by one heckuva grenade...or mine. :biglaugha:

  7. Not so much offended as slightly annoyed. Whoever put the American flag upside down and raised the Mexican one didn't seem to care about talking about the issues. They decided to make antagonistic gestures that don't accomplish anything rather than actually talk about immigration reform; they pretty much lowered the level of conversation and did not assist their cause well. If what that snopes article reports is true (i.e. the bottle-throwing, vandalism, stealing of the California flag, etc.), then the mob effect manifested in an ugly way when it shouldn't have. Happened in 2006 though, so I'm sure the towns and high schools involved have adjusted somewhat since then.

  8. Anyone else having a slow connection to the mybrute website? It takes forever to load, or it doesn't load at all for me.

On the bright side, my luck is changing slightly; I ended my losing streak of 9 in a row and beat 2 people in the arena and 4 people in the tournament so far (probably will fail after the 5th one, but oh well). Too bad I'm not getting anything out of the tournament wins. :biglaugha:

  9. Despite what the run-n-gun critics say, Bioshock was a revelation for me. Great game, great atmosphere. Very few games can make me forget the background noise of life and lose myself.

Here is some footage of 2

    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47806.html

Same for me. Bioshock was one of the few games that actually compelled me to play through it. With Half Life 1 (and now Half Life 2), I played a little bit, put it aside for a couple years, then finished it. :biglaugha: Great games, but I guess I wasn't drawn into the story or feel of it as much as Bioshock.

    *POSSIBLE SPOILERS FROM TRAILER*

Looks like you play a Big Daddy (or the previous protagonist in Big Daddy armor, depending on if we saw the prequel or sequel footage) in Bioshock 2. Check out the sweet rivet gun and drill. It also looks like we may revisit Cohen's lair, considering the enemies we see in the second part of the clip. We may also be dealing with a rogue Big Daddy in the first part of the clip, except Tenenbaum refers to it as a "she;" this development may point to why Big Daddies are only male and not female.

EDIT: Watched the clip again. The female Big Daddy is a Big Sister apparently. And even though the second part of the clip shows Fontaine Futuristics as the locale, I still think the enemies you fight resemble Cohen's footsoldiers: bunny ears and some plastered Splicers.

    :shrug03:

    *END POSSIBLE SPOILERS FROM TRAILER*

  10. Lol, we now know what Half Life 2 would have looked like if it had been written by random people on the Internet...an even more bizarre storyline with many grammatical errors and misspellings. Good job with Garry's Mod though. :biglaugha:

  11. By the way, do you guys get your gear after you defeat someone or reach a certain level? I'm still stuck with a knife/sword. Haven't gained anything except one skill I think.

    http://thefirstmonk.mybrute.com

My lvl 1 guy has a sword but I fought against a lvl1 girl and she had a cat and by the time they killed me she still had 40% health left. Discouraging.

Yeah, I thought that animal companion thing was kinda cheap when I first saw it. Luckily, I schooled a fighter who had one. :wiggle2:

    dw33z is hacking already...

Lol, he's creating a lot of pupils for us and himself. Thanks, dweezil. :biglaugha:

  12. http://zaganostia.mybrute.com

Just made mine, i would have been a pupil but i didn't know how, i have an AWESOME weapon though!!!!

I just clicked Nightling's link and fought him after I created my character. It says he's my master now. That's all I remember doing. :shrug03:

  13. I haven't tried joining an L4D game without friends yet, but I am getting some problems I've never had before this weekend:

    1. Joined a server for Versus where my ping went to over 1500. :twitch: I exited the game and checked the game info (a friend was still playing in there) from my friend's list. My ping would change within a range of 15-46 (which is normal for me) when I clicked on refresh several times. After about 5 seconds, hitting the refresh button did not refresh the game info; it would stop responding completely. Did this several times to make sure.

    2. Completed Death Toll with some people Friday night. Got through credits, but after credits rolled, our team did not get sent back to a lobby. Instead, the screen just went black, and I could hear sounds of the boat and a Tank. Problem hasn't happened since, but this was the first time it did for me.

    3. Played 2 campaigns Saturday night/ Sunday morning. Could not find a server where I had under 100 ping.

    4. As of this writing (2:35AM CST), I cannot currently access Community or Store in Steam.

I don't know if this is related to what Zero is experiencing, or if it's just a fluke for me. :shrug03:

  14. New character class on the website. I haven't read it all, but it's there.

EDIT: Forgot that it's April Fool's Day. Sounds like a possible joke. :biglaugha:

2ND EDIT: Lol, yeah I watched the videos and saw the screenshots. It's pretty funny. :biglaugha:

  15. Watchmen is split right down the middle. People who can't handle that kind of movie say they hate it, people who get into the story and can take a little bit of male stuff in their face and get over it after the first time you see it, like the movie. And so many people on movietickets.com say they didn't like the nudity, but thats only because it was male nudity, if their were boobs all throughout then the movie would of prolly got higher ratings from viewers. You know it's true.

This mostly fits in with the film theory of the "male gaze." It is generally the assumption that a male is watching or shooting film, so female nudity is not as offensive to the senses as male nudity. I haven't watched the film version of Watchmen yet, but I have read the comic book. I only remember noticing his private parts in the book when Dr. Manhattan first appears, so I can't comment on the film's supposedly numerous shots of them.

I do remember in a German film college course I took that there was one movie where a brief shot of a male's privates was shown. Some people laughed understandably. I was a bit surprised at first but not much else. The guy in front of me turned his face away though. :biglaugha: I think that once we get used to the idea of male nudity, it won't be that shocking or uncomfortable for us to see in future movies. There is definitely a double standard for some people to accept full frontal female nudity but abhor male nudity. I'm not saying we should all like the nudity we see in films, but I don't see how one is more offensive than the other. :shrug03:

By the way, fun trailer. :smillie_smilling:
