    • If you ever accidentally drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let 'em go, because man, they're gone.
    • If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.
    • If you're robbing a bank and your pants fall down, I think it's okay to laugh, and let your hostages laugh too, because come on - life is funny.
    • I think a good gift for the President would be a chocolate revolver. and since he is so busy, you'd probably have to run up to him real quick and give it to him.
    • If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.
    • A funny thing to do is, if you're out hiking and your friend gets bitten by a poisonous snake, tell him you're going to go for help, then go about ten feet and pretend that *you* got bit by a snake. Then start an argument with him about who's going to go get help. A lot of guys will start crying. That's why it makes you feel good when you tell them it was just a joke.
    • Children need encouragement. If a kid gets an answer right, tell him it was a lucky guess. That way he develops a good, lucky feeling.
    • Fear can sometimes be a useful emotion. For instance, let's say you're an astronaught on the moon and you fear that your partner has been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for the moon pieces, wham!, you just slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he's not Dracula, but you just say, "Think again, bat man."
    • The face of a child can say it all, especially the mouth part of the face.
  1. Kind of surprised about gold being so worthless... is there not a ladder system that's resetting periodically? That was always nice in d2 when the ladder reset, everyone was starting over fresh. Of course, there was still 'open' battlenet, if you wanted to get pk'd by some guy with hacked gear every time you walk out of town.

  2. Reminds me of the good ol' days with the explosion command in the admin menu. Still remember skeeting Talpa with it once--man that was epic.

But yeah that definitely crashed the server a few times.

  3. Steam Machines confirmed. The SteamOS is more streamlined for controller use.

I just really hope that this isn't a huge flop because it could potentially lead to the end of Valve unless they were to bounce back from it.

At this time, it's safe to assume a huge amount of $ has been invested for research and development--you're right, better not be a big flop.

  4. My idea was to have some kind of diminishing returns on purchasing full heals. Since, let's face it, it's the most commonly purchased item, other than fireworks, I was thinking that instead of giving 100 health each full heal, the amount it would heal you for over time would go down to a certain amount. I would see this as a big nerf to full heals as medkits are overused by certain players who try to think about longevity of the team over progress.

My idea would be this. Because it's also resetting your black and white counter, the amount the full heal would reduce over time would be 10%. So, the first full heal would give you 100 health, next full heal would give you 90, then 80, etc etc until it reaches 50, and it would cap there.

Please give constrictive criticism here. I want to work with everyone to make sure that everything is as balanced as possible, but still make it fresh to people in as many ways as I can. Give me your thoughts on this if you like the idea or don't like the idea.

I like the idea... but I could see many ways to nerf full heals:

    • As you propose, diminishing returns on the amount you get healed
    • Increasing cost every time a full heal is purchased (could be measured individually or as a team?)
    • Some time requirement to 'cast', similar to getting up using pills/adrenaline or healing with a medpack, or even like the !stuck command
    • Some penalty that puts you in a bit more danger when you buy it, ex: sm_charge could be executed on the player so they go flying in the air for a second
  5. Server updated to Bukkit 1.6.4

This version is aiming to smooth the transition to 1.7's new world generation, particularly for generated structures (villages, witch huts, nether fortresses, strongholds, etc).

The problem is that the locations of some structures is based on the world's seed, and when updating to 1.7 these locations would move since world generation is changed so much. Basically will break nether fortresses and witch huts, and maybe some other things.

The solution is 1.6.4, which will save structure locations in our world independent of the world seed. However, this doesn't happen automatically, any structures we want to keep working properly, we'll have to visit now that 1.6.4 is up, so that the chunks get loaded, and the structure locations get saved.

TLDR: If you want your nether fortresses, witch huts, etc. to still work (spawn blazes, wither skeles, witches) you need to go on the server and visit that area sometime before we put 1.7 on the server. This won't be for a few weeks at least I imagine.

  6.

This topic always makes me think of

    navi.jpg

But on topic--wish I wasn't so lazy, would be nice to be in shape.

but isnt pudgy a shape already?

    Yea it's a shape, but it's not very well-defined.
