  1. I can see it from both sides. If an Admin sees a regular breaking what he/she considers one of the cardinal rules (no rushing!) then it's an even more egregious ignoring of the rules than if a newbie had done the same thing. Admins hold members, and regular, consistent players even more so, to a higher standard (as well they should) so it's not surprising that you were banned for what was interpreted as rushing.

I'm not saying you were rushing, and I'm not saying you weren't. I wasn't in that game, but I *can* say that I've never known you to rush before. Not once. But again, once any of the regular players/members are seen as violating rules, they (we?) are dealt with more harshly, because "we should know better."

Like I said, I can see why this incident might happen, and also why it might be an issue. Something like this situation sucks, no matter what side you're on... if there are even "sides" to take when something like this goes down.

Even more so, I'm sorry to see this single instance as the "straw that broke the camel's back" as they say. This particular instance being the catalyst for losing a player like drag is only bad news for all involved.

  2. Drag wouldn't make a post like this without some serious thought, and at least an inkling of these feelings brewing for quite a while (as he confirms in his original post).

I haven't played on the Server for quite a while (school has been crazy this whole semester), but for my worthless 2 cents, I've noticed a lot of forum drama in the past year about this kind of thing. It seems admins/mods are viewed more as a hindrance to "fun, fair play" instead of the cause of it.

Again, just my outside-in viewpoint... on a more related-to-the-topic subject -- sorry to see ya go, Drag. You were one of the players I could always count on to help me out and watch my back when we were teammates, and I always hated seeing you on the other side of the aisle in games. In short, you were a great opponent, and an even greater teammate. Thanks for the fun times, and don't be too much of a stranger around the forums. We can still hang out here, even if you aren't actively playing on the Server(s) for a bit.

  3. Have the Server pick one SI and one Survivor (secretly) at the start of the round.

Secret bounty on that person/SI. Points for incap'ing them, killing them, etc.

  4. "Two things should never be discussed: Religion and Politics."

-- anyone who's ever been smart. ever.

There are myriad forums out there specializing in just the type crazy it takes to argue seriously over the Internet. Kudos to the Admins around here for taking a step back and helping this place be the best Gaming forum available.

If I want to get mad and call people names, I'll just join a L4D round when General, Swat and Got6 are playing. I create lots of new insults during that time.

  5. If they didn't have a proper level of care before (and the Govt now determines "proper" levels) then the plans need to be changed to be brought into compliance.

Granted this doesn't allow those who only want catastrophic coverage or something similar, but in order to cover all the sick people, this program needs a LOT of young, healthy people signing up. The only way to do that is to move to a single payer system (i.e. the Government). This is merely the first step towards that goal.

Gotta break a few eggs if you wanna make an omelette.

  6. One has to lay at least part of the blame on the Insurance companies themselves, if one is being intellectually honest.

It seems those companies are all too eager to dump their most expensive customers, whereas before they weren't allowed to, now they have an "out" to do so.

Just part of the short-term growing pains of a change this large in a society as ingrained with corporatism as America.

  7. The State system is to go away, unless all the States get on board.

And the numbers don't grow meaningfully until you reach the arc of ascent (or arc of descent, depending on what you're measuring). 65 million is still not nearly enough - you're still on the relatively flat line before the "exponents" visibly kick in.

And even the WHO refuses to rank countries on their "health care" anymore. Haven't since 2010. Not really any way to objectively rank countries on such a metric.

  8.

Lol. You have 11.14 million people.

    We have 313 million.

You have roughly the size of Ohio.

Come back when your country has its big boy pants on.

It's easy to treat ~3.5% of a problem.

Most countries with universal health care have a much smaller population in the U.S., and ZD was talking about such countries. Additionally, believe it or not, they also have many less hospitals. Population is a pretty weak counter here.

That's a pretty massive misunderstanding of healthcare in America. Economies of scale is THE #1 issue. Well, that and for-profit health insurance companies. But if you double a population from 100 million to 200 million, it doesn't become twice as difficult to maintain their relative health.

The reason universal health care works so efficiently and so well (assuming it does) in (much) smaller countries is precisely because they don't have the exponential problems a much larger population does. And of *course* they require much fewer hospitals. That should be obvious.

And with that, I'll get back to my lol'ing at every post in this thread - including mine. :)

  9.

PS - Going back to your first post, people visiting the doctors more often is often a good thing because it facilitates early detection of the really costly problems.

The place would be packed full of people with colds and the like when they would not normally go. The system gets over-stressed and over loaded.

    No it doesn't.

    Yours truly,

  10. ZD gainin dat knowledge, using those bullets of wisdom as ammo in the logical fallacy war!

There needs to be a logical fallacy where a "discussion" breaks down into nothing but pointing out each other's logical fallacies.

Call it the "LeoDamage" principle. Or the "ZeroBlue" conundrum.

Talk about a fun way to kill time in between classes!

Hmmm. Killing time. Classes. Is this what people are talking about when they mention "class warfare?" I hear that a lot. ;) ;)

  11.

    ... my educational pedigree

Good Lord someone actually used this phrase in a serious carepost.

I don't care about anything going on between the participants in this thread (other than simply reading it for amusement) but this is the most pretentious, worthless, ridiculous bit of elitism I've read in quite a long time.

    Well played. :)

  12. Both sides of this thread are playing right into the politicians' hands. Those who think they know what they're talking about, and those who think they know more than group number 1.

It's intellectually dishonest to think anyone on this forum has any idea what the impact(s) of this law will be.

Even the people who get paid to figure these things out can't agree on what will happen. Or even what is likely to happen.

For every one of those links, there is a corresponding link on how the ACA will save families money.

Round and round she goes. Where she stops, nobody knows.

  13. Yes, because someone else makes an idiot of themselves, I also refuse to continue to like the things they also like.

I heard Hitler loved the McRib sandwich. Don't care. I'll still nomnomnom on some fake rib meat by-product released by McDonald's randomly throughout the year. It's yummy.

Terrorists like beer? Welp, they have good taste cause that stuff is refreshing on a hot day.

Just because an annoying self-absorbed 12 year old (and has anyone ever met a pre-teen who's NOT self-absorbed?) goes public with their ode to Chinese Food, I'm not gonna stop doing the mall food court orange chicken.

  14. When answering polls, people will answer that

    1) Yes, they like the idea of nobody in America going without the health insurance and coverage they need

    and

    2) Yes, Obamacare is probably not the solution to the problem in #1 above

It's ok to hate the terms, policies and implementation of the Affordable Care Act while still subscribing to the notion of a universal health care system being the solution to America's health care problems. The two things are far enough apart to practically be mutually exclusive.

Obamacare is *not* universal health care. Latest estimates have approximately 13 million people who still will not be covered or able to be covered.

The only sad thing in all of this is the people who think either side, Democrat OR Republican, have anything else in mind other than the pursuit of more power for their party. Neither side gives a fat flying fart about you, me, your family, my family, or anything else.

They make that abundantly clear every day.

  15. Wait, you mean the politicians LIED to us? Perish the thought!!

And whomever it was up top that said USA wasn't the best, you must be a jealous non-American, since everything the USA!USA!USA! touches, uses, or even thinks of is the best of the best. Guaranteed.

Don't make us go America all over your little country. We're just itchin to occupy another non-America (i.e. lesser quality) to show them how to be awesome.
