  1. Spit and die. It's the only way of life. :)

It's pretty simple, from both a strategic vantage *and* a team mentality. Holding onto Spitters while they recharge is hurting your team.

The best way to help your team and maximize your team's chances of winning is to spit and die.

To do otherwise is not only borderline selfish, but it flies in the face of the entire attitude of the Server - teamwork is #1.

  2. I've noticed the options run on a static cycle... Boomer, then Hunter, then Spitter, etc. The order of them never changes (unless the max for that SI is already in queue or spawned, in which case it skips the max'd out class)... so pretty quickly (for me) it became second nature to start cycling through the SI to get to the one I wanted while moving into position (e.g. running back from appearing ahead of a choke point, etc.)

But I do like the idea of being able to pre-select the class you want to start as...

  3. True, but I was merely illustrating why the fireworks should cost more, since those are the preferred Survivor method of dealing with hordes and tanks.

It's too easy to hide Spitter spit in a molly flame footprint. The fireworks don't obscure nearly as much actual ground from view.

I agree that the fireworks should cost the Survivors more, but not egregiously so.

  4. The fireworks are infinitely more usable than a molly - my opinion. Mollys are usable the instant you toss them. Fireworks you can plant and time... either lead the tank near a fireworks box, or toss it in the path of the tank, and shoot it only when the tank is guaranteed to get lit up. With a molly, it requires a LOT more skill to target, and tanks can much more easily dodge a molly spread.

  5. I'm interested. Living in Ohio, it's not far for me at all... and it would be a pleasure to meet some of you gents. :)

Oh, and I'd probably bring 1 or 2 others with me. No preference for June or July.

  6. Tanks need to learn to hang back, not *immediately* rush into the middle of 9 or 10 Survivors... especially if they're all still green health.

Hang back, chuck a rock or two. Practice on your aiming those pieces of concrete. Give the Boomers/Chargers/Smokers a minute or so to try and split up the grouping.

  7. Hmmm. So, are these like five separate peoples or just you with an insane number of steam accounts?

Usually 5 separate people. Friends/family come over for LAN parties on the weekends, etc. Typical small basement LAN setup, and I tried having only one or two PCs with Steam accounts at first, but sometimes people were on those playing other games when someone else wanted to play Steam games, etc. Just got to be too much headache to deal with, so I took advantage of the 4-pack L4D buys they used to run on Steam back in the day.

We can swing discounts for a bulk buy. Probably have you make five purchases.... I think. Depending on how I have store settings I may need to change something or whip up a special product for you to buy. Yeah, that's probably a better way to swing it.

Don't mind the LAN setup but keep in mind if you got some friends rocking on our server and they get themselves banned...

100% understood. I'll take complete responsibility for making sure no morons play on those PCs. :)

How soon you want to do this?

Also, make sure you are down with this:

    and this:

Our L4D2 has been running just a tad beyond our guidelines lately, we're having admins pull it back a bit - just fyi.

Sometime this weekend, or whenever is convenient for you. I really appreciate you going out of your way to setup a group buy package deal - might help others in my same situation in the future too (maybe not 5 Steam accounts, but 2, 3, etc.)

And definitely appreciate the heads-up on the pending rules enforcement/tightening. Should make for a better gameplay for everyone.

Shoot me a PM or email me at my forum username at gmail if you need any specifics on account information.

Again, many thanks for the help!

  8. Any admin,

I currently have 5 separate Steam accounts that all have Left 4 Dead 2 installed. What's the process for getting all the accounts member access to GC? Is it as simple as buying 5 separate memberships, or do you guys do a group rate discount or something? :)

Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere. I searched around and didn't find any relevant information on it. If any site Admin can help me out, I'd like to be able to play as a member from any of the 5 computers in my basement LAN that have a Steam account.

If that's not possible, I completely understand. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
