  1. Ditto.

I'm just going to load a few up in here.

If you haven't spent time with Girafrage (San Francisco) yet, do it. Here's one with him and XXYYXX.

His latest release ("Chocolate") is fantastic.

And ODESZA out of Seattle is quickly becoming my goto for working sessions:

There's a guy that puts out a weekly newsletter for Hacking Mixes. Based on what you've been posting, I think you'd like it. Sign up here or check out the latest mix:

  2. You OGs should feel bad about your bad forum searching skills. They're bad.

    Me?

    [Mmmm]stuttering.john .gc -> sj -> stutters

I worked at a radio station in and after high school around 1998-2000. We aired the Howard Stern show. Stuttering John was one of the early dudes.

I took some time off from computers between 2000 and 2005. Built a rig in '05 that wasn't really stable, but had a friend (strangefamous) that kept talking about this rad community he'd been playing counter strike with. I took my crappy build and started to hang out around here. I needed a name, but I was too distracted by my crappy computer that stuttered and hung until it crashed. Stuttering John seemed appropriate.

  3. To be fair, my first reaction when I saw this thread pop up was "this is going to get locked" and "awww, remember the asylum RIP."

I'll probably regret posting instead of locking it and pointing you to Google. I've made my points and position known. It's only fair to let the other side make theirs before closing this and moving on.

ps, Marvin -- your signature is impressively gigantic. It takes up almost half of my vertical screen space.

  4. Small world. That second guy you cite (George Reese) is someone I know and have worked with. Moot point. He's talking about #GamersGate extremists -- not gamers at large. This is a reoccurring theme with your examples.

Secondly, that petition you cited? It has 10 supporters. And the argument that video games causes people to go on murderous rampages? That's been around since Columbine. This isn't new and it's definitely not a #GamersGate thing.

Rebecca Watson? She's talking about people being dumb for jumping into this after the beehive got kicked (death threats).

Look, if #GamersGate is something other than death threats and trolling (i.e., journalistic integrity), separate yourselves from those extremists. Example? Anonymous and lulzsec.

  5. I've spent the past 20 minutes trying to figure out their model. The only thing I see is "converting voice to data," but that doesn't explain how they can subsidize free plans. No mention (or even accusations) of data mining, either.

Year old, but the most insightful I could find:

Might consider getting one of these for my mom. She never, ever uses a cell phone, but I'd love her to have one in case of emergency.

Looking forward to your review, Preacher.
