  1. Ild say Giuliani, hes cute and cuddly and Hillary is too much of a stick. I like McCain and think he would unite the country better but there is a fear he may comprimise too much. If he gets on the ticket he will win but he'll have trouble getting the nom.

I heard some analysts kicking around the idea of Condy Rice.

  2. Its ignored because they know its just stories.

Do you believe that their exists a half bull half human?  Minatour??  there are ancient pictures of these..

I'm sure people found dinosour bones way back in the day and drew their interpretation of them...

    1) A Minator is culturally spacific <-- Hellenist cultures. Miyan, Chinese, celtic etc are all distinct cultures without interaction yet have dinosaur like ledgens. Its like alien obduction. If people claim that they been obducted by roswell greys in the US even if 100 people had the same story thats not proof but if you went to a remote village in say peru with no outside contact and was told a similar story that would make the accounts more believable.

    2) You think the ancient myans could excavate an entire skeliton remain of a tricarotops from stone and come up with a life like drawing. Plus put people riding them for effect?

    As to the flood...

The biblical account is more than a flood its has a canopy colapsing and water bursting out from under the earth etc. We are talking a massive disruption. It according to tradition separated the continents.

Of course the fossil records are in a sequence.
No they are not they are constantly adjusted when new evidence comes available.

Dating is not an exact science. When you get something dated they dont say its 164,534 years old they say its between 100000 and 300000.

  3. Here is what we do know: The bible as well as many other ancient writtens often mention dinosaur like things. Dragons are part of the lore of several distinct cultures. In miyan temples there are drawings of men riding tricaratops.

Scientist often ignore this stuff cause it dosnt fit into their puzzle. The fact is there is a lot of evidence of dinosaurs well after the accepted time of their extinction.

So who really tells the lies?

A global flood would account for a lot of things from changes in geological records, continental drift etc. Most Scientist agree with this, they just don't accept that a global flood happened. Nearly all ancient cultures have a flood story but any evidence we have of a flood could also be argued as evolution.

Example : a flood will cause different sedimentary layers, as seen by the big tsunami, smaller creatures get trapped in the lower layers and larger animals the higher. That is a fact not a theory. Now people who believe in a flood say that is what the fossil record shows but on a grand scale, ie global flood. If layers were created over millions of years as evolutionists say then they should be at least somewhat uniformed but they are not. They are all mixed up and different around the world.

A real scientist goes into a specific area of study and trys to prove theory only to spend his life trying to prove it wrong so it can be considered factual./QUOTE]A real scientist does her/his job. S/He does what the boss or client says. S/He does what it takes to get money to provide a life for Her/Himself. Scientists are not holy priests they are human beings just trying to live life. Some are highly moraled and seek truth, some are highly immorral and seek personal gain but on average they are just people. People who will tell a little lie for a grant or bend a study for investors. That is reality.
  4. My list stopped after the UN took control. With good reason - Saddam could not make war out side Iraq while the UN Inspectors were there. Thats why he threw them out. During that time there were several uprisings though so don't assume it was pleasent.

My point was Iraq was in continual war until US and UN intervention. In the last 15 years everyone's been interviening. So to say if we'ld just keep our noses out they would be peaceful is wrong because history shows us different.

  5. and no. the war situation in iraq was nothing like it is now. in fact, it was barely even there.

1979 June: Saddam Hussayn becomes new president.

August: About 400 members of the ruling Ba'th Party are said to have been executed, by the command of the new president.

Unrest among Kurds, inspired by unrest in Iran, after the Islamic revolution there. Religious animosities in Iraq are linked to what is happening in Iran. Relations between the two countries are worsened.

1980 September 17: The agreement on Iraqi/Iranian borders from 1975 is declared null and void by Saddam, who claims the whole Shatt el-Arab, a small, but important and rich landscape.

September 22: Iraq invades Iran, and gets quickly control over Iranian land.

1981: Israelis bombs a nuclear reactor outside Baghdad.

1982: Counter offensive from Iran, reclaiming much of the land occupied by Iraq.

1988 August 20: Cease fire with Iran. Iraq rebuilds its military power

Brutal actions against Kurds inside Iraq, where poisonous gaz is used to kill thousands of civilians.

1990 August 2: Invasion and occupation of Kuwait.

So from the time he was president till the 1st invasion Iraq was at war or preparing for war the entire time. At the same time going through several rebellions. Apparently a wounderful place to live.

  6. Adam Smith "defined" Capitalism. The basic concepts were already in action.

"In common usage capitalism refers to an economic system in which all or most of the means of production are privately owned and operated, and where investment and the production, distribution and prices of commodities (goods and services) are determined by the influence of supply and demand in a market, rather than by the state or the collective."

    "Debates center on whether capitalism

is an actual system, or an ideal

has been actualized in particular economies, or if not, then to what degree capitalism exists in them (see mixed economy)

is historically specific (that is, that it emerged at a specific time and place), or a system that has existed in various places at various times"

    Read your own links!

Smith didnt just pull Capitalism out his butt. Newton defined gravity and quantitated it but didnt create it. Adam Smith defined an economic system based on trends that were already in practice. The founding fathers didnt say lets be capitolists! They came from a state controled system and wanted a privatly controled system. It developed into what is termed capitolism but is not exactly what Smith set out. I would argue the US is more feudal especially with the recent SC desision allowing the goverment to seize property.

  7. no. capitalism is an economic system. not a broad sense of trading goods. read some.

I guess there was no gravity until Newton.

*medicade/*medicare - Again only good if your poor.

*public schools(darn communist) - U cant be serious in saying public schools are good. More canadians go to private schools (including the separate school board) than public and our students are in the top three of the world.

*welfare - LOL, yah thats a bonus. Little bit of history for u. The US was very concerned with the growth of the methodist church because they were helping the poor. To conteract this you got a welfare system.

*school grants and paying for part of college tuition prices - There were educational bursaries in England and France in the 1500's.

*corporational regulation - the us constitution contains corporational regulations

  8. Capitalism is where production and distibution are privately or corporately owned for the benifit of the person or corporation as apposed to the state. Explain how this does not apply to an Empire? Corporations or Kingdoms whats the dif?

The early christian church lived in a communist scociety, the essens and many other cultures, way before Marx. Likewise the idea of personal aquisition and free market are ancient ideals seen throughout history. Just cause the word Capitalism is used only a few hundrend years ago dosnt mean the idea was new.

    une pomme still makes applejuice.

Interesting note as someone who could afford better heath care, but cant in Canada, I tend to be more toward a private health care system where ish who i assume by what he said can not afford good health care so he is for a gov one. I think the best solution probably lies in some balance. BTW I pay 33% in income tax in canada. 45% of which goes to heath care. I pay another 15% in taxes on all purchases. The avg can family pays about 15,000 a year on average for heath care. I think I could get some sweet coverage stateside for that kinda money.

  9. iraqi civilians who have joined because of hate for us or because of a power play
Yah cause before the US came the Sunnis and Shiites played together like little angels. The mass graves were because the US sucks. It would be like saying the IRA bombings were because of the US has relations with britain. Islamic religious groups have been fighting each other almost as long as christian groups. Even before the US invaded there were insergants, they were called Kurds and Shiites. We just care now cause its US lives being lost not just arab.
  10. Rita is now a Cat. 3 ....  As the hurricane got closer it realized that Texas is a red state and decided to turn it down a notch or two..

    lol

cat 5 to 3 though is like someone telling you Holyfield is coming to kick ur butt but then saying nah we are just sending De La Hoya.

  11. capitalism is also flawed as i've outlined.
Capitalism is still going strong. In essence Monarchys, Imperialism and Colonialism are all forms of capitalism so its been going stong for thousands of years.

but as for more socialistic societies, they work wonderfully. take a look at the other first world countries of the world.

I live in a more socialistic country (Canada) and my heath care sucks. In the US if I work hard i can pay for better heath care but in Canada I get the same crappy heath care as everyone else. With a private system people who abuse the system can lose coverage or pay more with a government one I wait 5 hours for stiches because of all the abuse.

Do you use the US post or UPS? My company uses private companies not canada post because its faster and more reliable. Now Canada Post has gotten better but that is because of the compition. I cant off hand think of one crown company that is it the top of its field.

...so before you tell me how "wonderfully" i have it, live here.

  12. The times has also gotten rid of one of its senior editors in favor of a conservative voice. Which leads me to agree with Bat that, at the very least, the left slant is hurting business. Especially with the popularity of conservative radio and the internet that daily points out their bias.

  13. "No sooner had President Bush finished his address from New Orleans last Thursday, than Massachusetts Democratic Senator John Kerry issued a statement saying, "…Americans want an end to politics as usual that leaves them dangerously and unforgivably unprepared ... not speeches in the aftermath to explain away the inexcusable." But while the president was giving his address, Kerry was having dinner at the fashionable Cafe Milano Italian restaurant in Georgetown. Witnesses tell The Washington Times that Kerry sat with his back to the TV at the bar, and never turned around. What's more, he was still eating at the time his statement was sent out in his name."

  14. but I disagree because I see a clear difference in mechanics and organics.
Is there? Are we not in essence just machines :)

My favorite argument is Descartes' - God by definition has no greater, I can image God, God existing is greater than imagination therefore God exists.

It certainly doesnt prove God but it sure makes people look at you wierd.

  15. whats the watch maker idea?

often called the teleological argument for the existance of God. I think it was Paley who proposed it. He said if you found a watch, based on its comlexity there must be a watch maker. A watch just doesnt natually exist. He concluded therefore due to the complexity of our existance that there must be a creator.

Now following that argument and the mathmatical odds of our existsance I personally can say that it seems more likly there is a creator but the teleological argument is not a proof and as many pointed out complexity dosnt infer Intelligent Design.

  16. One day in University, during a class on well formed formulas, class was interupted and we received what I would call a sermon on socialism. Now this is not U policy. When a friend of mine said he was going to go to the U for social work I joked and said "next time i talk to you you'll be a socialist than". He is.

Why is socialism so prevelent in Universities? In russia communism simple replaced those born into upper class having the power to the univerity elite having the most the power. Is it power? Is it superiority? I often complain and hear other grads complain about having a degree but making less than automotive workers. In socialism education usually determins lifestyle. So is it greed? jelousy? or is it pure betterment of man?

  17. This is complete spin. At my company we pay a visa fee of 3% mc 4% and amex 3% (approx) for computer training and hardware. You are not allowed to add the fee to the customer directly therefore we are forced to include it in the prices. Bummer people who pay cash actually eat that fee too but such is business. Gas is a hot topic so you take something that is normal and you make is sound shocking. If you fell for it I got some hot sea view property to sell you.

  18. shaped entirely by the society around them?
not entirely. Society, parents, tv, movies, friends, early sexual experiences etc, etc. You deny this? Put research aside. You were born lusting women? Since day one you've been sexually aroused by the same stimuli? No additions or deletions?

misconception 1) there is no differnece in children raised by gays than those raised by heterosexuals.
Do the studies corrilate between undivorced married men and women vs lame? Usually not. Doesnt everyone spin the numbers to their advantage? As you have said yourself studies can be flawed. So any research I present would just be debated and I dont have time.

misconception 2) homosexuals are not inferior except perhaps in reguard to religion
Never said a homosexual was inferior.
  19. interestingly, it does further insinuate the exsistence of bi-sexuality. not surprising as much of sexuality is seen in a continium instead of black and white, but thats true of most things.
Bing! Bing! my point exactly. I would submit that we are born neither BI, Homo or Hetro sexual but simply sexual. Our sexuality is shaped and changes throughout life not just in what sex we prefer but in how we do it. Society decides what is deviant and what is normal and it changes too in tides. Look throughout history and you'll see various cultures go wild sexually then ebb to a puritan like stance then back.

So why fight lame marriage? My faith and much research dictates that a family with a father and mother is better for a child and society PERIOD.

  20. I can not say enough that capitalism would have died already if it were not for socialism, and dare i say even some forms of capitalism

USSR went bust, N Korea is ultra poor, Cuba is discusting (been there), and china survives off US capitalism. Show me working socialism that does not feed off capitalism.

  21. Remember though Reagan had a terrible approval rating when he took on the solviets but is hailed by many as the man who took down the USSR. A loved and revered presindent. (who's economic policies allowed Clinton to inherit a boom)

If in 2 years things are better in Iraq and the economy is addiquate Bush will be a hero. If not he is history's fool but heros take chances.
