He made a stupid heated statment. However interestingly he is a private citizen with highly deminished political clout. Why was it on CNN all day? Im sure there are idiots on TV saying stupid things every day why him? Is it an attack on the religious right for having an impact on the election? -
Evolution Debate
Wounded Cheesie replied to Wounded Cheesie's topic in Religious Debates and Spiritual Politics
Pigs 99.9% Monkeys 99% Yet in accepted evolutionary models pigs are considered lower that monkeys in the chain to humans. Shouldnt it be the closer the traits the closer the evolution line? Heres an interesting quote: "My reservations concern not so much this book but the whole subject and methodology of paleoanthropology. But introductory books - or book reviews - are hardly the place to argue that perhaps generations of students of human evolution, including myself, have been flailing about in the dark: that our data base is too sparse, too slippery, for it to be able to mold our theories. Rather the theories are more statements about us and ideology than about the past. Paleoanthropology reveals more about how humans view themselves than it does about how humans came about. But that is heresy." Dr. David Pilbeam an anthropologist at Harvard It pushes my point that the grandios wealth of congeture, books and theories comes out abut say archaeopteryx with such little evidence. Many assume its transitional but there is no proof again it just may be a different species. -

I know from mapping in source when you add objects to a map like barrels etc you can change properties so object are heavier or behave differently. Its actually pretty cool. As to the aiming I'm with voodoo. Personally I like pray and spray -
Evolution Debate
Wounded Cheesie replied to Wounded Cheesie's topic in Religious Debates and Spiritual Politics
lol it was argued Similar traits mean transitional evolution. Watermelons and clouds are both mostly water ie similar trait. better example a tooth was studied by Henry Fairfield Osborn (big wig in dinosaurs) he deduced it had traits like a human and and ape and was seen as an evolutionary link. It was much publicised and even was used in a big trail about evolution. Aprox. 7 years later they finished the dig and found the rest of the remains and it turned out to be the tooth of a type of pig. Similar traits <> evolutional transition. -

If I tell you fire burns you may have faith in my words but once you touch the flame it is no longer faith. That is pretty arogant. You've tried them all? In buddism, for example, you must reach enlightenment before seeing the evidence. Have you reached enlightenment? -
Evolution Debate

1) By your argument a water melon must be an evolution of a cloud or vise versa. Even in current accepted evolution models simalar traits do not mean one evolved from the other. 2) There are only a few fossils that are accepted as (species) transitional by the scientific community. Im just saying since there are so few it seams more plausable that its just an extict species like any other dinosaur. In fact it is equally logical to say aliens dropped off archaeopteryx. -

is it or is it simply a different species long since extinct? There are many animals with similar traits that dont follow accepted evolutionary lines. Transitional meaning from one species to a different species. -
State one theory, idea / whatever and we will stick to that debate and show your evidence, support or speculations. Try not to go off topic. Ill start it... Although there is speculations there is no evidence I've see for macro evolution, evolution from one species to another. Am I missing something?

Why Church? 1) We are social creatures. We are not ment to be alone. Church offers an opertunity to get together but for a purpose. The purpose to pray with one another, give and get advice, encourage eachother. Now if all you do is come, sit, be bored and leave then its prolly a waste. 2) After a long week a good inspiring sermon can energize you. Admititly most churches just brow beat you and ask for your money but they are not all like that. 3) Generally one person can not be as effective as a group. For example when someone in our church was laid off the church was able to help them finacially till unemployment kicked in. I didnt have any significant extra cash but each person putting in a couple of bucks and we could help them out. So...Church does make me feel better and because I do counselling and prayer I beleive i am "helping someone out" so im doing both Side note: Before welfare and unemployment benifits churches were the sole source of scocial assistance and today churches are still the major contributers for anti poverty, aids and other releif.

Agnosticism: Does it Work?
Wounded Cheesie replied to Unclean's topic in Religious Debates and Spiritual Politics
What most people want is something to tell them take 3 steps forward spin around and theres God. I dont believe you'll find any religion that can do that although most try. Knowing God isnt completely based on blind faith. Jesus, for example, said that you will know true believers by two things love and power. If you have a connection to God you have a connection to Supernatural things. Healing, prophecy all kinds of wild stuff. That is why Jesus imparticular made such a historical impact was because of the things he was claimed to do. I personally have a friend who was born deaf who hears perfectly because he was prayed for. Ive seen, with my own eyes, things that are proof to me of God. Most religions are false and dont have these evidences, so they discredit them or some fake them. But Religions by and large are bad. Unfortunitly thats why there are so many agnostics. We have that gut feeling that there must be more but the choices given to us are not so good. -
VAC2
Wounded Cheesie replied to Wounded Cheesie's topic in Midwest FF CS:S - Scopeless - PROJECT MAYHEM - Chicago
Well it is running What it does is detects any changes to your exe and dll files. If they are modified or it finds a known cheat it logs the cheat. It can take over a week for the ban to take effect so admins are still important. It does not kick hackers either it just logs their steam id and then when the database is updated they cant connect to vac servers. Once someone is banned though its permanent. If you've been banned by vac from 1.6 your still banned too. In fact it bans you from all valve games that use vac. So dont cheat. Also, important to note, it is valve that bans with vac not gc so if it bans you they cant unban you. As well they still have the ability to ban people just for being smacktards so everyone behave themselves and dont cheat -
I ve seen a few servers running the beta and was woundering if the gc servers will be running it when its all good to go? Im personally for it. Ive used a bunch of other AntiCheat software with other games and I know they are not perfect but it generally eliminates the cheats that kids download from public sites eliminating most. I played saturday afternoon and for the first time on the gc servers had a horrible time. The cheating was insane. After a while the server filled with regs and I started to have fun.

Agnosticism: Does it Work?
Wounded Cheesie replied to Unclean's topic in Religious Debates and Spiritual Politics
The problem with the argument is that it is focused on afterlife. Why Agnosticism does not work has nothing to do afterlife but life now. As I search for God what I have found gives me comfort and peace in my life now. Statistically Christians live longer. People with some sort of spiritual connection claim to be happier, at peace and are generally healthier. Most religions are based on connecting to the Creator/Nature or whatever they call it. Real or Imagined, I feel a connection with a higher power that shapes my life and guides me. That is something an agnostic does not have. I understand the fustration with organized religion, most tend to be politacally or ethnically driven. However giving a gaming analogy 90% servers/communities Ive played sucked (cheaters, ingnorant peeps, etc) but if I just decided not to play I would miss out on great communities like this one and a few others Ive enjoyed. -
