  1. I was using an 7 year old Hercules Fortissimo 3 sound card until I installed Win7, which didn't like it. I was always real happy with the Fortissimo but I wanted to give my Abit's onboard sound (8channel Realtek) a try since it was 64bit Vista ready.

So far I'm happier with the onboard sound, it just sounds a bit better but I can't pin point why. I can't tell any performance drops in games either, but I think those days have long been gone.

One thing that I don't like is to go from headphones to speakers and back again, I must plug and unplug my headphones. My old sound card I could leave the phones in all the time and just choose my output via a driver applet that nestled in the task bar.

  2. I will never use small router from a store for a router again.

I was thinking that store bought routers with hardware firewalls (like my Linksis) typically ran 200mhz cpus with 8-32mb RAM and a version of linux. How is this different from a computer with a 200mhz cpu, 8-32mb RAM and a version of linux?

  3. My wifey likes it, as everything vampire. We had to cancel our HBO but she still finds places online to watch.

    I'm more into zombies/mutants then vampires/werewolves myself.

  4. Sounds like a better deal then the WoW players paying $180 a year. :prplwacko:

TF2 is a great game that originally came out at 20 bucks, I think they should have priced L4D the same. They would have sound umpteen more copies and then sold more for L4D2.

I still don't understand the boycott thing, I always have to wait till games come down before I buy.

BTW I been playing King's Bounty (2008), good turn based strat that be had for only $7 from Dollar General.

  5. If it was a 1920x1200 rez monitor would be a much better deal. I don't care for the way the market is swinging towards 16:9 ratio. Seems too narrow for me, might be good for movies but not games or productivity. I'd rather have them extra pixels on the top/bottom.

  6. I still have Return to Castle Wolfenstein (PC 2001). I didn't care for it back when it was released. Looked kinda pretty though.

id really needs to stop pounding out the same old crap. They haven't had any new IP for close to what, 15 years???

  7. if you play a friends match, it can be endlessly awesome.

its no different than playing de_dust2 for the billionth time. It allows for variation. And I am glad I got it half off months back. L4d2 makes me worried about how quickly it will destroy the community though.

I'm pretty sure their betting everyone will migrate from 1 to 2.

  8. After going through the pain of setting up a dual boot I figured it out anyway. My previous install I used the driver that came with my Abit's onboard sound. This go around I just used Win7's sound driver cause it seemed to work/sound the same without the hassle of installing anything. :freak3:

Weird how a sound driver could bog a game's fps in half, while other games and everything else ran flawless.

  9. Few weeks ago my HDD drive died and decided to use Win7rc as my exclusive (lol) OS. I play a lot of UT2004 and noticed a slight performance decrease, no big thing still acceptable.

But now WD finally sent my replacement drive and UT is in the suck zone, instead of getting a solid 85fps I'm getting 55+, my hit scans are way off. I'm using all the same drivers I was before. I just don't get it. Been playing King's Bounty instead, need a break from UT anyway.

Any explanations? I'm about to dual boot XP just to play UT and see what happends, whenever I get the time.

  10. I finished off a 6pk of Guinness Friday and thought I would top it off with one of these Nighthawks. It tasted like liquid meat byproduct. Heads up if you like bacon fat and beer.

I have to be missing something here...you drank what after Guinness? Malt liquor? ARE THERE NO LAWS DOWN THERE?

Yeah after downing the 6pk I lost my better beer judgment. :freak3:

Honestly that was the first good beer I've had in a couple months. When ya trying to stretch your monnies it makes more sense to pick up a case of cheap stuff from walmart when it cost about as much as a good 6pk, ya know? Oh yeah, it made the Guinness that much better. :)

  11. I like the old forum skin I was using... Disturbed I think?

Hey I think I was using that one too, I liked it so. This one is too bright for me and kinda looks like everything else out there. I've been noticing that the net as a whole is going bright and bland, with rounded squareness. It's all so sterile.

The 90's had great websites. :prplwacko:
