So I read through all this as I was pretty interested to see if big bones would make it from europe. Very dissapointing ending. How about working in the US for three months? some one hook this kid up with a job!!!

One of these myths that really annoys me is the myth that dial up users somehow lag the server because of their high ping. While it is true that dial up users can be difficult to get good hit registration on they are in no way lagging the server. Obviously if your connection can only pull 3-5k/s of data from the server then it is not gonna make much of a difference to the overall bandwidth of the server. The real "laggers" are the guys that can utilize the full sv_maxrate of the server which happens to be about 10k/s on recru.

 

Another stupid myth comes from the guys that whine about awps taking no skill to use. I remember when I first started using the awp back in CS 1.1 and I used to get my butt kicked left and right. The awp is a difficult weapon to use as you have to sit still to get full accuracy and it will leave you with a huge debt should you happen to get killed. Admittingly, no one likes being killed by a 1s1k uber weapon so it is understandable why someone would get angry about a guy that is mopping the floor with his awp; just don't accuse him of being a n00b until you can start buying awps without dying and not having to have to buy deagles for the rest of the game.

Alot of the people on scopeless have used the AWP before. I have played on and off since 1.4 and never stepped into a scopeless server until source. We all know how much "Skill" the AWP takes(none).

It just makes me sick when people think that homosexuality is a choice, and that in the Bible it says "God loves all people," but people of certain religions treat gays like lesser beings.

The bible doesn't really say that. This all stems from the story of soddom and gamorha9not sure on spelling there). Basically two angels go to visit Lot and check out the town he lives in because it is supposed to be so bad(he and his family are supposed to be the only good people left in the town). When they arrive the people of Soddom are all like, 'hey those angels are kind of sexy lets rape them good.' They circle Lot's house and call out the men(they don't know they are angels). Lot goes out and says take my two virgin daughters and do what you want, these men 'came they under the shadow of my roof"(I have extended hospitality to them and must protect them at all cost). The men say no and begin to accost Lot. The angels blind the men and pull Lot into the house, and tell Lot they are going to give CNN something to cover the next day.

Anyways it is generally taught in the US that the offense here is homosexuality, but it is more likely that the offense is not respecting the hospitality extended to the two angels. Had the angels been female it would have been no different. Most Desert societies do now/had then very strong laws and customs regarding treatment of visitors or those found in the desert due to the extreme environment.

I could care less, to me homosexuallity is like rap music. If thats your thing, good for you. I don't have cornrows, a gold grill and like to slap hos. Its just something I can't relate to.

Terry Schiavo's heart failure and ensuing health problems were brought on as complications to an eating disorder. At the time of her initial cardiac arrest she was on a diet consisting of only iced tea. If you look at pictures of her before her problems she was obviously very thin.

Is it possible he just did not want her to suffer as she was. It is not as if he asked the docter to OD her with morphine as is commonly done in the US, he simply requested artificial aid be removed. It is also my impression that he was all for her receiving aid and such for the first couple of years she was sick. He did not petition to have life support removed for 8 years.

IMO it matters greatly the political and religious beliefs of the people who hold resources with high global demand--especially when the resources are the underpinnings of a global economy. It's like the book/movie Dune: it absolutely mattered who controlled spice production...similarly it absolutely matters who controls petroleum production.

Did you ever realize that spice was what the space guild needed to run its transports? That the Fremen were Desert people? I think there are some correlations between some of their beliefs and Islam also. I re-read the books about a year ago and was amazed at how relevant they were. I agree with NOFX. THe Iranians letter seems entirely serious and not just some propoganda. If it was Iran would have released an english translation immediately.

I think these have less to do with oil than the fact that our military is uncomfortably stretched to its limits. I read last week that seamen and Airmen are now being trained to cover some of the responsibilities in Iraq which have traditionally belonged to the Army and Marine corp. I was hanging out with a guy last year who had been to Iraq three times, had 14 confirmed and hallow eyes. This war is taken a devestating toll on the United States and the rest of the world knows it, and is more than willing to take advantage of it.

when I was activing in BSA we went camping every month all over the place, the most fun were canoe trips. We weren't the typical scouts and we did A LOT of stuff we shouldnt of been doing, but it was extremely fun. I recommend to everyone take your kids/wives camping, you can learn so much just getting out in nature. Especially how to light all kinds of stuff on fire!

I talked to some river guides on a trip i was on in mexico about their experience with boy scouts on the New River. They all said they would never let their kids be boy scouts because of all the stories of animal torture, blowing things up, or burning half a forest down they heard the kids bragging about.

Tents? What kind of panzies are you? Buy a solid 20* wiggys bag, a fleece liner for is its cold or use alone when warm, then lay on a construction tarp. Make sure it is big enough to pull over yourself if it rains. I have woken up with ice on my bag, slept through sandstorms, pelting rain, snow and prolly anything else anyone can come up with. All without a tent.

Yes, perhaps. But someone renaming the forum was not a good idea. It is ok to flame if you are in charge? Very funny, but IMO not much different than anything going on in the threads. I am just trying to put relevant info into the discussion, and tried to do it in a positive way.

 

Before I get the beatdown for posting this try to understand my point of view. I feel I was involved in quite a few of these bans and even though I do not have a ban stick myself feel I should get a say on the thread. Ecspecially when some of it involves a bit of me bashing.

 

I will not post in those threads anymore. I do not think I will be posting any more ban requests either. At some point after I get myself in better financial straights I want to apply for admin status, but till then it seems that policing the server with an unloaded gun is more trouble than it is worth. I feel I have tried to improve recrud with my presense (and will continue to do so) but am sick of all the drama.

I am in the same place farmer. When I first joined GC I put all the admins on my buddy list and would send out IMs if any of them were on, posted on forums, etc. It just isn't worth the time. Even if someone responded the server would be dead by the time they did and it would take twenty minutes to get the server running again. I just got tired of it and started going to other servers if I played in the day. Check out Americas Army, on the MIA server. Pretty well regulated and when admins aren't around you can kick with a punk buster vote.

Which one did you get? Let me know how it works, i might just picked one up.. The cats love the red laser, i wonder if the green would drive them crazy!

GC is a well admined community so its rare that you'll get many problems on the servers, but what happens if some hackers come on a server your on when an admin is not about?

 

The best thing to do is remain completely silent and pretend the hacker is not there. Carry on playing without saying a word, or perhaps compliment each others gaming style, pretending your having a brilliant game of counter-strike without some idiot ruining your game.

 

Why?

 

Hackers go out there, most of the time, to deliberately ruin your game, and get out a response out of you. They meet up in their irc channels and pair up to go on things they call 'Rages'. These rages basically involve them going around a series of server causing mayhem and ruining peoples game. They take screenshots of all the provoked responses they get out of the people on the server, and copy and paste all the lines onto one massive picture, which they will then post in their forums.

 

In the forums, they will ultimately get a reponse, usually other hackers judging their 'raging skills' out of 10, inbetween flaming each other and going completely off topic. They try and get as many responses out of people as they can trying different ways. Sometimes just by out right hacking, other times by saying offensive statements to people.

 

So if a hacker ever stops in a server near you, just remain silent so the hacker can't get those desired screenshots that he wants of people reacting to what hes doing. If he gets no responses after 5 minutes when its obvious that hes using scripts on the server, then he'll ultimately move on and try get the provoked comments from another server.

Having said all of that, I've come to figure that most of the people that are using hacks to ruin other peoples games have had pretty corrupt childhoods, or if not that then they more than likely got bullied at school and dont have many real life friends.

This is not an assumption, I've been investigating a lot and from what I've gathered my findings are pretty accurate.

I found with the bet settings tried on recrud that it was way too easy to get cash. Either had 400 bucks or 12000.

I would love to see betting on scopeless MW.

Some people like to start posts like this by saying "I am not going to bring up any names, but..." I am not one of those people. I think there is one key thing that GC needs to look at in detail on this screenie. But several general observations. No one on the losing side had a ratio >1. All but one on the winning side did. One team can be ahead, but if the K:D stays somewhat even it is usually possible to have fun. People can afford more than just body armor every turn, they come close to winning a few even if they don't pull any off. When the K:D is that skewed it usually means one team is playing with the SAW every round and the other glocks. There is no way anyone is having fun. so since I have outlined that some talent switching sides probably would have helped the game out alittle, I am going to point a finger.

I notice that there was one player in the server with a GC tag on, escape plan. I also noticed he ended with a 10:1 ratio. Everyone knows if you are .GC and any good at all you are supposed to start switching at 5. This is not a rule, but it has been agreed upon in many posts. Maybe he miraculously knocked out half the opponents the last two round, but I doubt it. My guess is he was sitting on 16k and could have easily switched teams without having to downgrade to a pistol or smg for afew rnds(except when I am in a suicidal mood this is what takes the fun out of the game for me.) The fire power he could have brought to the other side would have been helpful. sometimes buying a few m4s for other people is enough to turn the game around. He was definitely in a position to help the other team and as a GC member had a responsibility to do so.

That is the real problem, strong community members(people who post in here more than alot of the GC people) and GC people don't switch up like they should. No one should have to ask.

I don't think bringing in alot of pubbers is what the server needs. One of the reasons I like GC servers is they are usually more than half reg or members. When I joined GC over the summer the servers were always full of regs, it was too much of a pain to get in for people who didn't know.

We do have to keep in mind that many of us came in as pubbers. Pubbers are where regulars come from, and eventually where new members come from too. It's good to see a lot of familiar names, but it's good to see some fresh players too.

Well I obviously realize that we need to get some pubbers in, but as you read in the welcome threads when someone that is going to join hits a GC server they usually stick. In fact alot of them shell out the cash within a few days or weeks of playing. I don't think including maps the regulars don't like is a good idea just because it will bring in pubbers. If the servers are running well(low lag and loss, plenty of admins and good maps), there will be plenty of pubers trolling through the last few spots to get subscriptions up, and the regs will be much happier also. The environment is entirely different when the server is half regs than when there are just a few of us. I think peopple are attracted by the environment when it is mostly regs not mostly pubbers.

I would like to suggest a longer map rotation including repeats of the classics. Such as the rotation now three times, with train, galleria and another custom mixed in between the cycles. It would let people play the maps they personally liked sometimes but not have to sit through the ones they did not as much. I could play galleria once a night, but when I got to it the second or third time I would find myself moving to another server. I think the current lineup just lacks variety. What about throwing an FY in? With ten win limit something like Iceworld would only last 5-10 minutes. The people who like it get their fill, but those who don't won't leave the server because it is so short. Maybe doing that causes some sort of complication, but if it doesn't I don't understand why it isn't done already.

I woul also like to see the cash punishment for TKs removed. I think significantly less people are forgiving, and some people punish even when they know it was an accident or their fault.
