  1. Hi guys,

I was banned in that whole incident with SnIpE, I was wondering if I can be unbanned now. it's been about 2 weeks. Scopeless midwest server.

I have no intentions of causing problems on the server and would just like to play.

I'm sorry the whole thing even happened. I should've just been the bigger man.

    Lesson learned.

    STEAM_0:1:307419

    Thanks... R!c0

  2. except you saw how it all started.

at no point in my participation on this server have I ever caused a single problem.

I assist with rules enforcement and all that...

he started in on me... and I was wanting to do what I could to not have to even deal with him...

but it's all good... i'm not going to grovel to get back in the server.

there are enough .gc players that know me and know I'm not a problem around here.

If y'all wanna make the ban stick, sobeit.

You all take care of yourselves... if you wanna lift the ban, cool... if not... sorry for the behaviour

and I'll see you when i see you, I guess.

  3. 1 and 2 were covered by me saying precisely what happened and giving you all the information...

3 was covered by me saying i would've just muted him if mute worked like it did in 1.6 (thus, I couldn't read what he was writing, nor could he read mine)

4... sorry for wanting to use mute but it doesn't work like it's supposed to...

5 how long have I been playing here now? nearly 3 years... c'mon... like I ever give the server problems...

    6... read #5

    7... STEAM_0:1:307419

    Thank you for your time.

  4. Would like back in plz...

SniPe layed into me the entire time once I changed my name from GenXisT to R!c0...

    wouldn't let up...

I posted "if mute worked properly, we wouldnt' have a problem"

meaning... like in 1.6, if you put a player on mute, you couldn't even read his text...

    so I'd just mute him...

Anyway... 2 maps later, he's still goin at me... so I respond to him...

Either way, would like to get back in...

Monday Night on the Midwest Scopeless...

  5. On a side note where have ya been lately Ric0? Never see you on at night anymore.
What cha talkin about? I've been playing every night for the past 2 weeks or so (aside from thursdays). I usually play earlier in the evening (6-9 pm CST). I play alot of party poker now, so once CS starts to frustrate me, it's poker time!

Perhaps some night I'll get on and frag out until the wee hours...

  6. Look at the ping of the two players right

underneath Sim.651. If you guys could'nt drop those 2 guys you were doing something wrong!

That's not necessarily true. BulletToothTony often comes in with a crap ping. And he kills me all the time. He's a decent player, but the frequency at which I am killed by him (as opposed to me killing him) is skewed compared to the kill/death with everyone else.

    Why?

Because I have a < 20 ping. So on my screen, he's skipping all over the place, and I can hardly see to shoot him. By the time I get a decent shot, he's either teleported forward or he's killed me.

Having a high ping player is often a NEGATIVE towards people that have lower pings. It's just one of the dumb ways latency works. You'd think they'd be screwed with ping that high, but it's often the exact opposite.

  7. And you also need to set up your config to ban on site...

they are notorious hackers from 1.6

please help... there are 3 of them now...

visit CENSOREd at your own risk...

    notorious cheaters from 1.6

Thanks Shep... came in and banned the losers...

    how lame...

still around hacking games after all these years...

i wish some people would seriously get a life...

    Thanks again, Shep.

  8. Bad map to do a comparison about skill stacking.

cs_office, contrary to what it actually should be, is a CT map... NOT T.

We had this similar discussion before...

Seems it was decided that you can't control the team people play on...

and it's kind of hard to tell people to play on the CT side of a hostie map.

Clearly, no one would choose to do so... however, I'm confident that most

people auto join the teams ...

Best you can do is simply take your licks for this map, it's only 10 rounds.

  9. we go thru this weekly.

    Bottom line:

There are maps that people like.

There are maps that people DON'T like.

    Consistent; you CANNOT please everyone.

    Consistent; you CANNOT upset everyone.

Which is why I said before... put ALL of the maps you have on the server

    IN THE ROTATION.

Many of us old school players LOVE many of the standard maps that

NEVER get played anymore (chateau, havana, assault, prodigy, etc.)

This server gets enough traffic on a daily basis that if someone (or someone(s)

don't like a particular map (militia, italy (like me), cbble etc) they can leave

for a map. It's not going to kill anyone to have to wait thru one or 2 maps

    that you don't like.

    What this accomplishes:

How many times per night is this server on office, dust2 and italy? About a thousand.

With all the great maps that are available, why in the world is the rotation so

incredibly tiny? I understand that this isn't my server, nor would I suggest

anything that would make me lose "favor" here... but really, think about it.

This discussion is done over and over, and for the same reasons; one or

two people don't like a certain map (and that's probably because they're not good at it.)

    Solutions (suggested):

GET BETTER AT CSS... there's no way you're ever going to like any map if every time it comes on, you pout and leave.

LEARN TO ENJOY DIFFERENT MAPS... what fun is it to play the same 3-5 maps repeatedly... this is in direct connection to the above suggestion. The reason that people don't like other maps is because the NEVER PLAY THEM.

PUT ALL THE MAPS YOU HAVE IN THE ROTATION... there is an admin on pretty much any time of the gaming day... if people really don't wanna play a map... VOTE... this is America... we invented the idea.

This is really kinda silly to keep going over this repeatedly.

  10. you know what's funny? I was never really a "pubber."

When I started out in CS about 4 years ago, the first server I played on was

because a friend recommended it to me. Then, after I joined my clan,

(which is no longer active), I started playing on that server, but would

always go back to the other server I played on first.

When Source was released, again, word of mouth, a friend found .gc. This

has been the ONLY Source server I've played on for any extended amount

of time... (meaning longer than 1-2 rounds).

Just thought I'd point that out... when you find a good thing, you stick with it.

In fact, I don't know what I'd do if y'all sqaushed this server...

well, perhaps finish Doom 3 or something...

    or GT4 (ps2)

    or GTA:SA

    or HALO 2

all sitting on the shelf, unfinished, and dusty.... darned Counter Strike.... lol

  11. kind of like standing 2 ft from someone, unloading an entire clip and hitting them all of once, in the leg...

just because your crosshair is where it should be,

doesn't mean the game code thinks so.

I can verify this, I shot Pyro got a HS on him looked at my damage stats, It said i hit him in the right leg, but registered a HS for 126 dmg

    see? that's what I mean...

basically, you aiming at the head (crosshair) merely gives you a better percentage of possibility that you'll get the head shot... but that doesn't mean it'll register, or even get the kill...

last night, I shot someone point blank in the head... it even registered a headshot... for 99 dmg...

I then was killed shortly after that...

    random....

and then you have the pump shotty ....

    wow...

all the way across the map... headshot...

    173 dmg...

and we all know, if you shoot a 12 guage shotgun, the burst of the pellets in the shell would mean that you MIGHT

get hit with one... from that far away... and certainly not even remotely close to pierce a military grade helmet

    and kill the player...

and then, you turn around and shoot somene point blank with the pump and it takes 2-3 shots to get the kill...

    random.

  12. Militia used to be one of the biggest favorites back in the day. It seems the most popular of maps in the old days are no longer the favorites. I remember Assault, Inferno and Militia being on the top of the list. Now they are never played.

the big prob with Militia I think is that people do not have the comp system to play it with good fps.

That's because all of these "Source Noobs" showed up and they don't appreciate how far CS has come, and what its roots were. All of the oldies (Prodigy, Assault, Chateau, Havana, Militia, Train) don't get played enough because the new people don't know the maps... 7 YEARS this game has been out... 7 YEARS...

there aren't really very many maps that are T sided or CT sided; it's a mix of having players on either team that don't seem to grasp the concept of how to win.

The only beef I have with Nuke and Militia is that, in an effort to further the "eye candy" factor of CS, they have made it difficult for alot to enjoy. As you said, it's a MAJOR drain on the CPU/GPU. If anything, that's the ONLY reason I don't like Militia. It's a great map... and had people had to deal with playing the old version with the awpers on the roofs... then they would see the superiority of this version. And, do so before they had mods that made disabled scoped weapons.

Bottom line: You can't please everyone... someone is always going to be upset. Whether its Dust 2 or whatever... someone doesn't like the map... which is why I say; Put ALL of the maps you have available, into the rotation.. if people don't like a particular map.. leave for a map or 2... come back... becuase there's about 25 great maps and this would reduce complaints, and reduce the dreaded repetition that comes from people not wanting to play other maps.

    Thanks.

  13. You said yourself the first shot is always spot on, if you know how to aim you aim for the head and kill them with the first shot.

it is spot on... but that doesn't mean the shot is actually going to register a hit :freak3:

    "random element"... again.

kind of like standing 2 ft from someone, unloading an entire clip and hitting them all of once, in the leg...

just because your crosshair is where it should be,

doesn't mean the game code thinks so.

  14. I didn't read anything esle in this thread beyond the first few lines of the original post... so you'll have to excuse me if this has already been addressed.

Zhou, if you think that militia "induces camping" on the Scopeless server, you should try playing this map on a server that has scopes. Better (or worse) yet, play cs_militia on 1.6 (or before) on a server with scopes.

This map is BY FAR the worse map for camping with awps.

That said... gc is a scopeless server... and the redesign of militia has made it so that the CTs actually have an equal or better chance of winning than the Ts do. If you don't believe me... spend some time on the 1.6 version of the map. The CTs NEVER win... never = about 3% of the time.

The only disadvantage the CTs have is that the AI for the hosties is so horrible that it takes 1/3 of the round just to run back after you get all of them.

There are only a few "new" camping spots for this map (rafters, back of the shed, under the stairs outside, and 2 spots near the silos.) On the old version... it was all roofs, and all awps and it sucked (for CTs)

Source version is MILES ahead, and MILES more fair than before. All I can say is spend some time with the old version and you'll appreciate this one a lot more.

I've never played CS 1.6, I started with Source. I can also see your point about scopes inducing camping though, but even now I still think the Ts camp a whole lot. And good point about the hostages being way darn slow about following you, that problem's prevented a few wins.

the bulk of the "issues" with maps come from people that "don't know their roots"... That really isn't a diss at all... there are many people that started out on Source.

The only problem is, all the maps that get released are "new" to you guys.. whereas those of us who started before Source are able to appreciate/critique the differences.

As I said, cs_militia is actually "fair" now... while maintaining the advantage that the Ts have (and rightfully so, being a hostie map)... If you get a moment... load up 1.6 (it's in STEAM too) and play cs_militia on a scope-enabled server. Then you'll see what I mean.
