  1. I have an Antec Sonata, it has a cleanable filter on the front intake. For the rear intake I used one of those disposable filters you can get for your vents in your house. It's been two months so far and there is very minimal dust in my case. I clean the front filter every two or three weeks(just wipe it with a cloth) and I haven't touched the rear since I put it on.

    Works for me.

  2. I wonder if i could rent a monitor. I am cool with dragging my comp, but really don't want to lug any of my monitors down. One less monitor is one more 24pack. :D

I think chester wants to rent a comp. I just don't want to spend that much cash. To me thats 75 bucks less for beer or food. Or shoppin money. My sister is small, she can fit in the trunk or under a seat. :D

Assuming your B-day in your profile is accurate, you'll still be 20 for FF06. Drinking age in the U.S. is 21.

    Sorry :D

  3. I can't say enough good things about the Antec Sonata 2. It comes with a 450w PSU. It's their smart power 2.0.

I run a s754 amd, bfg 6600gt oc, 2 120mm fans, 1 92mm fan, 2 80mm fans, and a zalman vf700 off of it with no problems what so ever. I also have a SB audigy 2, wireless net, dvd burner, 80gig ata 133 HD, and a 250gig Sata HD.

Does anyone fancy choosing some computer parts for me? I don't think I feel up to the task, i feel depressed and what ever I choose will not work so if anyone wants to search for some parts here is what I need:

One case - doesn't need to look l337, just needs good air flow and prefably not ugly

One PSU - must be about 450W so I dont have power problems for a long long time

One motherboard - Must do the job!

    Compatability etc:

    I've got an Intel P4 Prescott 3.0 [1MB cache,socket 478]

    I have 2 x 512mb pc3200 ddr400mhz ram

nvidia geforce 6600GT AGP graphics card

a maxtor hard drive and a dvd re-writter.

I need at least 4 usb slots for printer, mouse, keyboard and portable tv cards.

Well, now im off to cry and dream about a computer that will work.

  4. Fantastic! I'd love to get a chance to do an F1 race. WHat shutter speeds were you running for these ones? Around 160th?

For the first one, were you behind glass or anything? It almost seems like there's some glare.

Dunno if you have one or not, but a monopod makes panning MUCH easier. I tend to be twitchier then most people so it made a big difference for me.

    Thanks for sharing.

  5. One thing I notice, it that all of my pics look rather dark on CRT's. I use an LCD and I find it to be quite a bit brighter then most CRT's.

Had I really been thinking when I took number 4(and I really wish I had) I would've bracketed and got the detail I want for the trees and sky. Three shots would have been great. One for the water/left side, one for the right side and one for the sky. Then combine them later.

I'd love to see some more of your work!

    Thanks for the comments.

  6. I really like that picture..... 100% honest though, and there's really nothing you could do about it, but I'd like it better w/o the fence up top and w/o that tree in the foreground. For some reason those two things "take something away" from the picture imo.

Another thing I'm curious about.... is that ice, or is that an effect of a slow shutter speed? I love playing with shutter speed and water to get different effects.

I'm up in the air about the fence. I could go either way with it though. On one hand, it would look nicer, a little more undeveloped. On the other, it proves that there's hardly anywhere around here these days that hasn't been affected by people. I could pull the fence out quite easily in PS, but for now it stay :D.

I completely agree with that tree being in the way though, lol.

The water was flowing quite freely. It was a 90 second exposure I believe. Ok, checked the exif. 85 seconds, F8, 100iso, and it was shot with the kit lens at 18mm.

I've got an ND(neutral density) filter on my list of things to buy. You can cut down the light by multiple stops without afftecting colour/image integrity with them. Excellent for bluring water in daytime shots.

    Thanks for the comments!

  7. Well, after posting some of those pics up last night I got in the mood to go out and see what I could do tonight(haven't really felt like taking pics much lately).

About a 20 minute hike to the bottom of the falls I was already frozen, lol. Only hung around for about a half hour, managed to get about 10 shots.

This is one of my two fav's. It was taken well after dark.

Just a quick and dirty PS job, but there's not much more I need to do to it. Haven't touched any of the others yet.

-George :freak3: As usual, feel free to comment on it. I can always use some constructive critisism or en(dis?)couragement, haha.

  8. Thought I'd throw a few shots up here for you guys(and girls) to take a look at. Not really new or anything, all taken since June.

Feel free to comment if you like.

I'm not sure exactly what that was she put on her head, lol.

Edit: Photobucket did something freaky with that first one .... sky got pixelated, blah.

  9. Yah I don't have that. Everyone I asked about the passport said it may need be mandatory, but I should do it anyway. I just don't want anything complicated to happen at the border and if a passport is gonna get me through faster, so be it.

Just get your license ya bum!!!

I just said I'm going to get the passport because I'm doing a lot of other traveling this year too. You'll only need the license or AOM card to cross, and bring your birth certificate just in case. The license is probably easier to get then the AOM card too, less hassle.

As for ticket purchase, I'm not even going to try to get them before June. If the sell out before then, so be it. I won't be able to make the decision until then anyway.

  10. Glad to hear you're ok. And I agree with Peckles, they all fear you're deagle skillZ.

  11. Some doctor hacked open my wrist then did a crappy job closing it up. I have an ugly ball of a scar from it now(it's never going away, been there 10+ years now).

I'm sure you'll be able to make it heal up fine whit, just take norgs advice.

  12. I'm not sure what the performance diff would be, but I just made the jump to AMD and I couldn't be happier.

I don't have any heat issues with mine, and I'm really picky about my comp being loud. I have an XP-90 heatpipe cooler with a 92mm thermaltake fan. Almost silent and keeps the cpu around 38C idle, it's get's up to 49C at the highest under full load. (Although since I added an extra 120mm fan to the case it hasn't gone past 44C, both 120mm's run in silent mode)

    Oh yeah, it's S754 Athlon64 3500+, lol.

  13. I would research the lenses too. I have found that the lenses that Cannon gives with their cameras are horrible; perhaps Olympis is the same.

The kit lens that comes with the XT is nothing to write home about but it's not horrible by any stretch of the imagination. Anyone beleiving that, simply hasn't learned how to use it to the best of it's abilities. It's the photographer that makes the difference.

I've seen many many pictures come out of the Kit lens that just blow me out of the water (although, non taken by me, haha). Glass is important, but learning how to use what you've got is even more important. The fact that the canon comes with a really cheap lens to start is a bonus IMO. It gives you a chance to get a feel for the camera and decide what you want out of a lens. You can then either stick with it, or grab something better/different.

Oh, and M2, I would strongly recommend reading the forums on dpreview.com. Tons and tons of great info.
