  1. He said older gamers, not older games lol. And I think you should go anyway dunlavy because it'll be fun even meeting new peeps tongue2.gif

Heh...well, my name says it all, LOL. Alot of the people going have been for years, so I'm sure you'll have a good time. If there is someone in particular you are hoping will go...send 'em an email and nudge 'em!

Oh, I remember WhiteyFord and most the TWC guys. StutteringJohn got me into GC. Lazerus, too, I had many late night gaming sessions with. Just recently, I've been playing with Ebil more, but I never saw her when I was l337 since I was a 100% West Coaster.

  2. I work at Rackspace, it is a cool place with fun people etc... this is a perfect example:

I drew a picture of me (really poor outline) on a rolling whiteboard and put it by my desk to "pretend" I was here so when my manager looked over he would see it instead of me as a joke.

Well, I left for lunch... by the time I got back a co-worker had re-drawn it (extremely well) and then made a cafepress site and sent out links so people could buy shirts and mugs and what not.

Apparently people (friends and co-workers) are actually buying them too. Amazing how fast things get out of control around here.

I am on the product team though, it is our job to design and build products. I guess this is just a side effect of being good at what we do hah.

Where I work, creativity is punished.
  3. Welp, as of tonight your very own Samurai Nightling is engaged! I popped the question to my gf of 7 years tonight and she has pretty much called everyone we know already so i figured i wouldn't leave you guys in the dark either. I'm pretty excited! Next step is the wedding plans and house searching, yay for spending every dollar ive made in my new job already. I'll post pics up of the ring if i get around to gettin them up on photobucket soon. Just thought i would let everyone know!

    Pics or it didn't happen.

I speak, of course, of the honeymoon.

  4. wow!~

    Welcome back.

You'd remember me as "Stalin...without the soft underbelly"

    Indeed.

    I do.

Welcome back dunlavy! I at least remember you, whether you remember me or not. I still CS it up here and there, but i play alot of L4D2 and work a second shift job, so life is pretty busy. Hope to frag you soon!

Thanks for the warm welcome back. :-)

  5. I may be going. Yup. I have the money and I can definitely get the time off from work. I basically want to see if some of the older gamers I remember are going and that's what I'll gauge my verdict on.

  6. Welcome back! Yeah, Stutters still plays occasionally, as for the rest of the names you have mentioned, I dunno...haven't seen 'em. The server is considerably slower traffic wise than it used to be...maybe due to an aging game, or people just playing other stuff like Modern Warfare...not sure, but we are pluggin along and things have been getting a bit busier, so time will tell!

Anyways, welcome back, and um....well, I guess I am glad to have one more person to kill me on a regular basis...lol

Modern Warfare. I weep for the future of gaming.

  7. After a two and a half year lull from Counter Strike, I’m back. Don’t ask what happened. Between getting married and a 9 to 5 programming job (my last one was “choose your own hoursâ€), my home gaming computer had a hardware failure and then my interest in gaming waned (just a little). I played some single player games that I bought and shelved because I was playing mostly Counter Strike and did a lot of personal coding. Those things are complete, other parts of my life have settled down (I bought a big arse house, too), and I’m once again finding the jubilance that fragging n00bs has to offer.

    You are all so dead.

Anyway, I wanted to know a few things:

What happened to Retrocedence? That server was always the premier place to go. I know Fatty was experimenting with server settings and lowering the available player slots to sixteen before I “left,†but now I find GC’s server selection to be a bit lacking. Am I missing something? Did someone set you up the bomb? What happen?

Does Stuttering John still play? Sushi? WhiteyFord? Kodiak saw me on CS and asked me if I remembered him, but everyone had different names so I’m, “Uh, no…†then I tried to spray my screen with mace. I live in a violent city so it’s reflex.

Anyway, good seeing you all again and the new website looks tops. I’m poking around trying to get current on things.

    Much love,

  8. Im a computer programmer for a defense contractor. The project Im working on now is Radar Control System for ships. Which basically allows the guys on ship to track their helicopter and help perform operations. So I traveled over here with another guy to help setup our system and peform our final acceptence test. which it passed. I dont travel a whole lot, but it is cool when I get to..

  9. sounds like you've had the bios reset on you. check and make sure you have legacy usb support for the keyboard enabled. also, check to make sure your usb is set to hi speed (not full speed).

any power outages recently? are you using a power bar? not sure why the disk check is happening but it could be another setting that has changed in bios.

Using a USB 2.0 approved cable? Drivers?

  10. There are a scant FEW compelling reasons to upgrade to Vista. In my professional and not-so professional opinion, it is not worth the price or the hassle of upgrading a perfectly good Windows XP Pro / x64 machine.

I have every intention right now to skip Vista. I'm a systems engineer who works primarily with Windows 2k/2k3 adv, redhat and ubuntu, but I cannot bring myself to buy an operating system that will control my system against my wishes. Among them are some serious functionality degredations and I highly recommend folks pay very close to the next 3 to 6 months on what Microsoft attempts to do. Here's a link to a daily blog by one of the security industry's brightest, Bruce Schneier, about this sort of thing.

Why Vista's DRM is bad for you

You can also visit his site, Bruce Schneier's Weblog, for more thoughts on security that goes well beyond information technology into the full spectrum of security in our world. I highly recommend it.

D00d, DJ... great find on that article. Very entertaining read and I forwarded the URL to many of my friends and relatives who are salivating over Vista and aren't too sure why.

  11. Hate to say it, man, but in my experience of both dishing out and receiving this kind of behavior: If her friends are more important than you and she won't answer your calls when she is out, she's probably still on the market. Your instincts are usually right.

Don't be a victim. Talk to her and be prepared for the relationship to take a hit.

  12. Guys, I have some spare time to kill the next couple of days before my life gets busy again. PM me requests and I'll see what I can do...

  13. This is why i stopped playing games so much and decided to get my life going.

Actually, kinda funny you mentioned that... that's what I've been doing. I quit playing CS:S and now I have a decent job and a girlfriend. Oddly enough, however, I find myself wanting to play Counter Strike more and more and MORE...

I want to have my cake and eat it too.

  14. A cautionary note: Red Bull caused me some problems. Specifically, I was developing mild insulin resistance from drinking way too much of the stuff. Glucose overload... and I'm not overweight at all. I could have hurt my vision, pancreas and wee wee.
