  1. I was definitely in the server when someone offered one hundred dollars to the person who caught nuggz cheating, because he was sure of it and no one had gotten around to demoing him. I was also definitely in the server when an admin told nuggz he couldn't join a team until he was the last person to join. Those both definitely happened.

    Notice how I said "You"

Ive talked to both parties of the hacking accusation you are speaking about. If nuggz is upset about that situation, maybe he should post about it. He hasn't seemed upset about it the last few nights in vent.

We actually think its kind of funny more than anything else, but I was just pointing out that it happened. Not that we felt offended.

  2. No one thinks you hack, no rule was made about nuggz, the rest of your novel is ok, but dont make up stuff.

And to answer bubblegum bandits questions: So if you guys are such "good" players because of your teamwork. Why not switch teams and help others to learn. If you took it upon yourselves to do that, you wouldn't have to worry about any of these problems. You would have lots of friends who could give you the comfort and trust of watching your backs.I have in the past, spent time with people who wanted lessons from me (because for some reason they think im good). They weren't afraid to ask for help and I gave it. Most of the time however when I try to give advice to a teammate they yell at me for not letting them play their way, so I gave up unless it was asked for. It seems to me that people *don't* want to get better. Us unstacking in the short term only helps these pubbers stay bad, and leads to even more complaining when we do play on the same team. I would argue it actually hurts in the long run, and the more we unstack, the more we are forced to unstack unreasonably.

I do have respect for, and follow the rules...but its getting a little ridiculous when people cry stack when there are only two of us on the same team, or three of us on one team and one of us on the opposite.

I agree it really isn't our decision whether or not a map was good, but if for example we did unstack aztec or played t-side (both of which we do regularly), the ct's would still for the most part win, and the t's would all rush out and die excepting a few who the burden of clutching rests upon. Thats how every round goes on aztec. On inferno, once the ct's win a round, all the t's get scared and don't leave spawn for the rest of the map. On office a couple of ct's rush and die, or rush and meet the rushing t's. After that its up to a couple of t's who hid to win the round. On italy, if you rush theres a 90% chance you get killed in the side by a flanker, so you have to camp and take it slow. You can see why these maps get repetitive, or not fun after a while. But I can see why its still not our decision and even when t's get skunked with us stacking the terrorist side, it could maybe be fun for someone else. (Another note to point out, we've only done this a few times, but for the larger part we play the hard side on every map we join. Once we get tired of having to do all the work on the hard side, we switch for a couple of maps...this usually happens when its aztec or cbble, you get sick of playing t-side on these maps every time pretty quickly.)

Finally as a last point, if any of you remember when I first started playing at GC I was horrendous. I was still in AoD (random pub clan), and could only get kills with p90s. I just hung around/got stomped by other people in the server, and I got better. I still do get stomped by people, and learn from it. To me, its the easiest way to learn how to play.

  3. I meant to post this a long time ago, but got forumbanned. Anyway, here it is.

Currently, many of my friends along with me are being viewed negatively in the eyes of the GC community. We've been wrongfully accused of cheating, but the greater offense which we have been incessantly hounded about is "team-stacking." Recently, a rule was even made that when NuggZ connected after a map change, he wouldn't be allowed to pick a team until after everyone else did. Clearly because people only wanted to join his team leading to more team-stacking. Here, I will analyze the causes of team-stacking, its true negative effect, and whether or not a solution is needed for it.

It is obvious that when people play in the server, they want to have fun. Unfair teams are a detriment to the ability for some to have fun, because it presents a challenge that they would rather not face. However, rather than examine a more underlying cause of the losses, they would find it much easier to accuse a couple of people of "stacking," and be done with it. Team-stacking is defined as one team being considered clearly superior purely because of the individual quality of the players on it. Can we really say however, that stacked teams are the cause to the losses? I would instead view stacked teams as an opportunity. If I was on the weaker team, I would try to analyze our team's weaknesses and try and fix them. Who knows? Maybe if each player focused on their mistakes instead of attributing the loss to stacking, they could even win. Consider the 2004 NBA finals. Nobody told the Lakers about team stacking and they packed a superstar roster of Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, and Gary Payton. Everyone expected them to roll through the tournament securing an easy championship. However, by working better together as a team and by finding flaws and fixing weaknesses, the Pistons were able to overcome and won a glorious victory. I would in fact argue that teamwork makes a team more than players do, and there are examples of this throughout sports history.

Sticking with the professional sports teams, one might argue back that the teams in professional sports are balanced. Through utilising a draft procedure, teams are enforced to be somewhat even and any team is as good as another. We all know this is utter crap, yet the NBA commissioner isn't making rules saying that Dwayne Wade has to start helping the other team after half time because he is "too good." Similarly I feel that rules such as this against players in the server are unfair. One could also argue that if the other team used the same amount of teamwork we did, they would get better both as a unit and individually, and would be able to challenge one team's domination. One of the biggest reasons us being on the same team makes the team good, is our teamwork.

This leads nicely into reasons for stacking. The biggest reason we stack teams, is because we like to play with friends. We like to know that someone we can trust is watching our back, and it makes playing more comfortable for us. There are plenty of examples of players who are seen as "less good" always joining teams with their friends but they don't get accused of stacking. Another reason we stack, is because some maps are just way too overplayed and way too terrible to be extended to 15+ rounds. Examples of this are office, aztec, italy. We would much rather win 7-0 on a map where few people have fun anyway, to move on to a much better map. The last reason we "stack" is probably because we share some personal preferences onto what team we would rather join. I know at least in mine and NuggZ's case, we play hyper-aggressively. We hate baiting and we hate just sitting still not moving. Therefore we both would much rather play t-side on dust2, a map where t's enjoy offensive play. You would notice us often stacking t-side on aztec or cobble as well for the same reason.

The real question however, is whether or not team-stacking is a problem. Most would argue it is, because people have less fun when they can be killed easier. I would argue however, that the challenges which come from needing better teamwork and a lack of dependancy on NuggZ killing everyone are of far greater value to the average pubber. They learn how good players play the opposite team and can come up with effective strategies and types of teamwork to counter it. An example of this was one time on dust2 me and NorgmaN were both on terrorist. We would jump down mid and go quickly up catwalk every round. Eventually a couple of ct's caught on and started boosting to counter our rush. We were killed early in the round and the ct's ended up winning even though teams were "stacked." I would also argue that the gratification that comes from killing a "great" player far exceeds the gratification gained from winning when you didn't need to work for it, and NorgmaN did it all.

In conclusion, I would argue that team-stacking *is* a problem, however the players who stack aren't at fault. Instead the players on the other team, not willing to work harder for a victory, or embetter their skills as individuals and as a team are at fault, and the "good" players should not be punished. Individual skill can only extend so far. Someone who just bought counter-strike, and someone who has been Cal-I for 6 seasons can still both only shoot one awp bullet at a time, and can still only look at one direction at a time. Teamwork is what makes good players good, and can also easily eradicate the "problem" of stacking. Instead of enforcing teams, encourage people to start working together to figure out new strategies.

Also, ask yourself why you care so much, enough to impose rules on some people because they are better than others. I'll refer you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Bergeron . Here is a free copy of the e-book: http://vonnegut.cultish.org/harrison-bergeron/ .

Edit: Also if anyone does want help getting better because for some skewed reason or another, you think I'm good... it doesn't hurt to ask.

Edit2: After I wrote this was the first time I changed my name to "Tookey: I dont care if I stack"...this is why.

  4. ok im super miffed right now. nothing is working on my audio, except for the windows shutdown and startup screens. wth.

realtek generally blows, get a real soundcard...if thats not an option, uninstall audio playing programs and sound drivers you have installed right now, restart...then install updated drivers from your mobo's website, and audio codecs should install when you reinstall your players

  5. This probably doesn't apply to me much anymore, but the source server is in pretty desperate need of a restart. Standing still and shooting someone in the face doesnt hit them, and I get almost a constant choke of 30. Mags told me to post up, so here it is.

  6. Personally, I'm partial to the higher quality monitor-style headphones -- like Sennheiser. The mic is the cheap part of the package. I'd rather get a completely separate mic that can be clipped on your shirt and easily disconnected.

I'm not sure how good my current mic sounds, but its just a cheap ol logitech stand mic that I move about six inches in front of my face when I play CS; but good quality headphones are indispensable.

Agreed. I use senn 555's and a cheap 8 dollar desk mic

I have a headset now , the clip on or desk mic could work. How close does the desk one have to be?

mines around two feet from my face and everyone can hear it ok...really anywhere on your desk will work with it

  7. as maverick mentioned, we're talking about this in the admin forums. it also came up in that discussion that now might be a good time to reset your autoexec.cfg to have an appropriate name to avoid this in the future, if you think it's necessary.

I did it as soon as I learned about this.

  9. I can't speak to anything else; and I'll leave my opinion out of this. So this is just a statement of fact.

A few days back ... maybe on the weekend; not sure. I saw someone connect with an unacceptable name; I believe it was what what, in the butt. Before they even played a round, they changed their name to Tookey. I'm pretty sure the map was cbble.

name leftover from a scrim, forgot about it, changed it back immediately

I used to have name "Tookey" in my autoexec, but when i reformatted I forgot to re-add it, and I never thought it was a big deal, but I guess after this it is.

I have been warned about the name I used twice, maybe three times in my history here. If thats too much, my bad. I assure you most of these are accidental, or I thought it was ok, and was later told otherwise.

  10. I understand the viewpoint on using ethnic slurs and harmful words in names. However, with most of these I used them in scrims and just forgot to change my name afterwards...evidently that counts as 3 uses. I remember using greasy dago...it was after watching (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/191156/snl_celebrity_jeopardy/) and I changed my name to it with an admin in the server. I wasn't told to revert it till a few days later, and I did immediately without question. I was using Blackie Chan to make fun of xt.Jackie Chan after he killed me a few times, it was intended as harmless fun, but I can see where someone would think it was a racist term. I personally am not racist, nor carry any illwill to any group of a particular people, but I can see how using names like that might show otherwise. I personally identify with the ideals of affirmative action on my campus @ Umich, and identify as an LGBT ally. I even voted no on prop 2. My philosophy on slurs is that they only hurt as much as you let them, and I feel that in our modern day society we are forgetting how to have fun and only focusing on being Politically Correct. I have always felt the anger and hurt behind racism was always much worse than the racist slurs, and that actual racism was the problem, not slurs. To quote Oxford English racism is "The theory that distinctive human characteristics and abilities are determined by race." However, I can clearly see now how that view differs from other peoples'.

Anyway, my views on the matter are irrelevant. I see where I was wrong, and I understand how another person looking at my stats page would feel about it. I will avoid using slanderous terms in any kind of internet setting in the future, including scrims, forums, etc. I am very sorry for my actions, and can assure you with the utmost truth that this will not happen again.

In conclusion, a) I understand the GC admins viewpoint, and while I disagree I will follow the rules; B) Any time an admin has warned me about the rules I complied immediately, and anytime I accidentally joined the server with a leftover name I changed it immediately; c) I am 100% sorry for my actions in using these names that are seen as offensive by other people; d) It will never happen again; e)I have never intentionally hated or wanted harm on any group of people, though I do feel jokes about them are sometimes humorous. Regardless I will avoid jokes like this in the future.

If you do choose to keep me banned I understand, and although I will miss the community here, I will go ahead and find new things to do with my time.

Otherwise, if it is possible to reset my stats will that reset the name counter? I can also just play in GC on a different steamid.

P.S. That name counter is terrible, any name I used for under 10 seconds got used 3 times, any name I used for 4 maps got used 20 times.

  11. These will hold you off till Limb's movie comes out. After watching his movie you're more than likely to just quit counter-strike and stop watching any movies. These will hold you over till then.

One is of me owning two rounds on nuke.

Synced is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's mostly luck shots (at least in my opinion) but it was very well done. Only complaint is its too short.

Eve of Destruction is good. You'll enjoy.

  12. Mill should be all set. Russka has not been updated; NFO support (or at least the guy I talked to) didn't yet know it was updated as well. So, they know now for sure, and it'll get updated. Russka of course should be a more worthwhile update since CAL claims misc. fixes on a map that had misc. problems, along with a radar overview packed into the BSP. For Mill, CAL offers only removing the Easter egg and the gravity stuff.

the easter egg thing was really REALLY annoying..also i distinctly remember playing this with votes once

    office

    dust2

    aztec

    office

    italy

    office

...i say just get rid of the voting...OFFICE ISNT A GOOD MAP

  13. ugh really? I didn't like this movie at all. Toooo long not enough skill... the sword thing was kind of cool. I was really waiting for norg to finish penguins movie and i was gonna post it but it sucked so now im waiting for limbcutter's. I've watched his demos, you'll probably ban him for cheating.

If I though limb was cheating he would be banned already. I'm sure I have some demos somewhere :D

But seriously...I kill you guys once a map usually...that's all I need to know that you're not haxorizing.

you havent seen him in esea

  15. Paypal connected to your bank account? Ouch...I would never use anything but VISA with paypal as VISA's fraud protection is very handy (unless you forget to tell them you are going to Europe... :( )

Anyways...that sucks. I'm sure Paypal has some form of tracking system (with IPs) so let them know your suspicions.

its connected through a visa check card, but i think im going to remove it, while it did make payments easier for me, it made them easier for him too

  16. if you know who did it and you reasonably know how he did it...then ask Paypal who you should send that information to.

I've never had my paypal account stolen, but I have had a credit card stolen and getting it fixed was as easy as saying "I didn't make these charges".

    hope everything works out man!

paypal already agreed to reverse the funds (amazingly quick!), but they put a hold on some, and between the time for the hold and the time it takes to get back in my bank acct im worried about overdrafting :/

besides overdrafting im more worried about getting this scumbag, whom ive heard has stolen other people's paypals to justice...he doesnt have a paypal of his own but keeps jumping through stolen ones like a small-dicked vagrant

  17. 10 out of 10 for me. The last one was misleading and I understood what the question was after a moment.

same, then i remembered a slashdot article i read about paypal

  18. So, even though I got a 10/10 on mcafee quizzes, have good virus scan, spyware scanners, and surfing habits...my paypal account got stolen.

I have a couple of questions for those of you who might be familiar with the legalities of all this and familiar with finances.

    1) My current bank is TCF, according to them I have -800 dollars in my bank account. What is the time limit before they can say I overdrafted (even though I didnt)? Is it when I get the statement? Also, if I contact them to say that I wasn't overdrafting would it prevent it or do anything?

    2) Paypal put a temporary hold on all the money stolen from me after clearing up my disputes. How long will it take to get reversed?

    3) After changing passwords to all things I hold sacred, I still feel as though I am not doing enough. Any suggestions? I also would like suggestions on a good hard or soft firewall, even if I have to pay for it.

    4) I know the sorry sac of poop that did this, and I'm pretty sure I know how he did it too... anyway to bring him to justice? Or to legally kill him? For those of you who are poor and live near chicago, I can offer you a job as a hitman...please pm.

  19. yes tookey you guys may be PTBE but I don't see a Mmmm Country Club championship belt in your showcase.

I dont see a bullet hole IN YOUR FACE, EXCEPT I DO
