One of the nice features of 1.6 will be the friends network thru Steam. So even if an admin isn't around, you can IM them from in game (assuming they still have Steam running). Features like that, and also showing where your friends are playing, are going to be nice IMO.

I would love to know the mentality of a person who is compelled to visit a place they don't like. That just baffles me. If you believe what you say, and that you are somehow "leet", or whatever the kids are saying now, why even bother here. Your attitude is not wanted; and it appears you don't wanna be here. So, why? I mean, you've rarely been around in the past, so what's the big deal about not being here in the future? I say just go away and quit torturing yourself.

Steam installs in a different folder, so 1.5 and 1.6 can be on the same computer. I have both on both of my computers, one under WinME and one under XP with no problems playing 1.5 or 1.6 on either.

The file system for 1.6 has changed. There are no longer folders for sounds/maps/models. Dunno how those are to be changed.

Another interesting thing: there's already been a skin hack out there. Was playing on a 20 man server (with Lunk) and for about 10 rounds a guy who was T had a CT skin. Everyone eventually saw it, so I doubt it was lag. Doubt it was a bug b/c it's not been seen since (at least not noted in the forums I've seen). Dunno. Was likely the first person banned in 1.6

Most of these types of problems are driver related. Try some different drivers, and by that I mean new and old ones. Also, it may just not work with CS. Had a Phillips sound card that just would not work, even went thru a couple of their tech guys about it (argh ), in the end concluded it just wouldn't work.

Also, you might try disabling your other soundcard (if you have one). Either thru windows, pulling it out, or, if it's onboard, thru bios or a jumper on the mobo. Maybe it's still trying to pull the mic from there.

1.6 is alive and well. Some new content servers added over the weekend. Today it's much speedier (DLed dedicated server in less than a minute today). Log ons are quick and play is consistent. A few bugs here and there, but nothing that can't be worked with. Have been able to play pretty much whenever now.

Only thing missing are a core of dedicated servers. But those are slowly coming.

Well, got 1.6 working, partially. Try to connect to a server and play and it keeps disconnecting. But it does let you start a server and test out the new stuff. Kinda neat interface.

If you can't get it to download all at one time, for some reason it doesn't work. If download is interrupted, delete the counterstrike folder under the cache and start again. Today it downloaded in about 30 mins. Faster than last nights 2 1/2 hours.

The rules for [Mmmm] servers and forums can be summed up rather simply - act maturely and you'll have absolutely no problems - be a bonehead, admit it, and you'll be forgiven - be a jerk and we'd rather not have you around. Everyone seems to argue over where the line is drawn between the above. The 'got banned rules' is a good indication, but several people just do not follow them.

Most say "it's just a game, lighten up" which for the most part is true. But the game is only what the players make it. It's the focal point of this community, but still people ARE the community. In that respect, it's more of a hobby than a game.

Mmmm tries to make this hobby enjoyable by all, without the cursing, whining, and other garbage that goes on elsewhere. But still we get "what's your problem" and "you're on a power trip" arguments all the time when someone tries to enforce the rules. Mostly leading to the conclusion that the person probably doesn't envision the community the same way.

Be polite, be respectful of each other, and you'll get that in return. I promise. If you know what you did, say "yep, I did it, no excuse". If you're baffled as to why you've been kicked/banned/slapped, etc., say that. Don't assume you've been oppressed either way.

These sections provide parents the ability to desert a child at the hospital, to a law enforcement officer, or a child welfare agency if the child is 72 hours old or younger. The court must treat the child as neglected and presume it's not in the best interests of the child to return it to the parents. Parents cannot be held criminally liable for this, and due to the anonymity statute, it appears civil liability is out of the question to, i.e. child support. The parents are not required to provide medical information or accept materials concerning what they've just done.

Essentially, in Ohio, a mother can wash their hands of a child right after it's born with no legal consequences.

Arguably, this is a pro-life stance by the State, encouraging an alternative to abortion by providing an alternative 'out' for the parents. I have yet to see this in practice, but it is an interesting concept.

Why can't people see that what Cane said is absolutely right? If he asked you to change it, big deal, change it. To use your point, it's a game. Why even argue. Your initial post indicates you were trying to associate yourself with Mmmm. Now you come here and instead of apologizing and saying "yep, it's your house", it's "you have a problem".

I use the Microsoft Intellimous Explorer Optical mouse. It has 5 buttons just like ZD's. Actually there are two variations of it, b/c one has a button on the left and one on the right, and the other one that I got has both extra buttons on the left. I use the one with a button on each side to play, using the left button as voicecomm.

They cost me $20 each at Sam's Club - which may just be a lucky find, not sure what they cost in other stores.
