  1.

To be fair, my first reaction when I saw this thread pop up was "this is going to get locked" and "awww, remember the asylum RIP."

I swear to god I am not a trouble maker! lol :)

  2. Seriously guys, this thread is getting stupid and has been open for too long. Someone please lock and all the non-sense that goes with it.

Everyone has their own opinion on the matter and not everyone is going to agree.

Usually we lock a topic when/if people start getting angry and start losing their temper. That has not happened yet lol. And anyway, I want to know how someone can claim journalistic fraud when dealing with a subjective entity like a game where its based entirely on personal opinions.

  3. All of your examples are of the backlash against Gamersgate, not of the supposed journalistic lies or abuse that spawned it. You are pointing to the result not the origin. Of course there will be a violent push back.  Violence breeds violence. Regardless of what you claim the majority of GG believes, the very vocal minority has the reins right now.

The only way to validate your position is to provide examples of journalistic ethics abuse that are egregious and wide spread enough to warrant the movement at all. Not point to the backlash against the violent attacks from GG.

  4. Dude.  On one side we have a woman who didn't sleep around to get good reviews for a game.  On the other side we have people threatening the lives and families of women. There is no winning this.

  5. OK. This is completely ridicules. What are you talking about? Radical feminist movement? Honest video game news? These are preposterous statements. Why is anyone worried about what ‘Zoe’ did or did not do, regardless of the reasons she did them?

Are there more women writers and bloggers talking about video games? Sure! Do they have an opinion that might differ from that of a 16 year old boy?  Sure! By expressing that opinion are they a part of a vast feminazi conspiracy to ruin gaming forever? No! Kids need to deal with the fact that other people enjoy different aspects of games, and that not everyone agrees about what makes a game enjoyable.

Given that whether or not someone enjoys a game or not is a purely subjective issue, what do you mean with the phrase, “ … gamers just want honest news about video games”? What news do you think you are getting? Is it that a game you enjoy playing is getting bad reviews and you don’t agree with it?  Would that then be dishonest news? Unfair? What does ‘honest news’ even mean in this context? There are no absolutes in ‘fun’. Everyone enjoys things differently and for different reasons. This whole thing reeks of a childish tantrum because not everyone enjoys playing games the same way as you.

The Gamersgate movement has at the very least been hijacked by a very angry, very vocally violent group. It does not have any viable moral standing. It is nothing but a mouthpiece for angry women hating gamer nerds. There is no way to defend it, it has no legitimate value in any discussion involving ethics.

  6. wow you guys have no clue. Gamergate is a group of gamers who are trying to get ethics in journalism...or in other words trying to get gaming journalism to be fair. The bs story about gamergate being against females is a lie spread by journalists because they dont want to be hated. they want to keep their job, and will continue to lie about what gamergate is. Plus, there are a bunch of female gamers in gamergate, so there.

So you are going the conspiracy route on this? The 'man' is spreading lies and misinformation about this wonderful and completely rational group?

Regardless of the supposed motives (Which, by the way, I think are completely ridicules. Ethics in gaming journalism? Its a completely subjective issue, there is no right or wrong answer)  of this 'movement', it definitely seems to have been hijacked by some pretty extreme individuals, and no longer serves as the platform it was supposedly intended for.

  7. I was driving to the store when I heard about it on the radio. It was a recap, "World Trade Center... Gone. The Pentagon... Gone". I thought it was some sort of comedy bit at first. After listening to the radio for a few more minutes I realized that it wasn't a joke, that we had been attacked. I turned the car around and raced home. Barged in, told my then wife, "The World Trade Center is gone, it collapsed after being hit by 2 planes!" She looked at me and said, "What?! I didn't hear any explosions." LOL, we were living in Long Beach at the time, and she had never been out of California. She thought the WTC was the one down the street. I just looked at her, confused and wondering wth she was talking about lol. "No" I said, "THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. Not this little po dunk thing here. THE FREAK'IN WORLD TRADE CENTER!" Then I turned on the TV and pointed. Watched it for the next 2 weeks, mostly because there wasn't anything else on at that time.

I thought I was pretty much over it, but I found myself tearing up a bit during a memorial bit on the radio the morning of the 11th.

  8. Sounds like fun. Closest thing to hunting I have been is fishing. The idea is roughly the same, you lure the fish (Ducks) in with bait (decoys) then when they bite (fly) they are hooked (shot). Some times you miss, but all in all a fun time is usually had. Someday I would love to go duck or deer hunting, I think it would be fun. Not to mention I really enjoy eating them thar animules.

  9. I was interested about this... but accidentally logged in to Steam on my work computer when I was exploring the site, and now my ability to trade/sell/buy has been restricted for 7 days because I logged on from a new computer. I hate that stupid security function.

  10. Just wondering what the total user limit is on our mumble. I am in a beta and might need to use it for a group thing. In the same vein, would it be possible to add a room for me to use? Named Shaftiel, or whatever you think would be descriptive but still indicate its me lol. Additionally, would it be possible to add me as an admin, so I can make sure if there is a problem with some of the people I can deal with it.  Thanks
