  1. 4. FOUR is HALF of FIVE.

Is this statement True or False? explain your answer TRUE - Roman Numerals

I just dont get this one....

    9. Which state is surrounded by the most water? Hawaii

Its Alaska, has alot more coast than Hawaii, so theres more water there.

  2. The only thing I was disagreeing on was the cost of parts.  I work at an auto repair shop, and can compare.  Although, they are about the same, Audi tends to be slightly higher.  I don't own either, but just basing it on maintenance and repair cost.

Thats exactly what I wrote......Audi parts are ALOT more than acura parts.....

  3. I have to disagree with Ghost.  Audi's tend to have higher priced parts over Acura.  VW/Audi share the same parts just like Acura/Honda.

As well as the parts will be much more expensive than the Acura.

What are you disagreeing with me on? Hands down the audi is a better car, BUT it is a turbo, they require more money and more maintenence. I don't know how old you are, or how you drive the car, but that is what is gonna make the difference between the cars.

  4. Acuras Are nice cars, owned one 2 cars ago :P Problem there is its a brand new series for the Acuras, and no idea if there is any problems with new technology. I now drive a 6 cyl Jetta, and all I can say is the best car I haev ever owned, nothing beats German engineering, I love the ride and quality of the car. Extremely sound engines, Bullet proof Transmissions ( 6cyl ) the whole drive line is astounding. The down fall is some cars have a few problems with electical systems, (windows acting funny ) etc. As well as the parts will be much more expensive than the Acura.

They both have their good and bad sides.....but in my opinion, the quality, fun, and look of the audi/VW kills the Acura anyday of the week. Japanese can't hold a candle to Germans when it comes to automobiles.

  5. This and the Mmmm forum being gone in the same day...is that really gone or is someone hinting around about something???

Heh its all in good fun...I been sitting on the couch for too long now, can I please get up and have a hug?

  6. I want to add something. Goot this might put things in a little better perspective for you. I am going to need a new TV very shortly. Now I have a decision to make. I have been researching TV's for a LONG time now, and I know what almost everythign is, and what each company has to offer. But unlike you with bills, GF, car payment etc etc I dont know if I want to drop 2 grand into a set up right now. On the other hand my convergence is so screwed up the highest HD signal I can get looks like a VCR tape from the 70's. The Front projection will be purchased in the next year, but do I want to wait that long for it? I dunno....The only way I am going to buy another RP TV is if i get one from 6th ave or somethuign that is on special. Fry's, 6th Ave, and other stores like this run specials all the time....basic RP HD ready TV for like 700 bucks....If I am going to do this this is the only route I personally will choose. Spending a ton of money on a brand ne RP TV is a waste to me.....Its like leasing a car you spend all this money and wind up with nothing in the end.

This also is a bit different for me due to the fact that my sound set up cost me over 7k and I dont need a TV with a built in sound system.

*EDIT* while reading over this whole entire post I realzied something. Its hard to understand "intentions" when your readign text. When I wrote everything it was meant to be informative, in NO way was I/am I trying to talk you out of anything. I just wanted to give you my own first hand experience, and make sure you know 100% what you are getting into. If my best friend asked me to go to the store with him so I could help him drop 4000 dollars on a crt TV i would smack the taste out of his mouth. (in a good way ) that is all I am trying to do here. I would hate to see you un happy in the short future.

  7. You don't nned both tuners....at this point a HD tuner "in" the TV is a waste...for me anyway.....I don't know where you are, but my digital cable company offers like 7 HDTV channels at no charge.....yes I can purchase an upgrade but its not really worth it. Most digital service providers offer free channels or ones at a really low price.....sooner or later its gonna be a big switch because a downgrade is easy to just watch the HD signal on a regular TV, at that point HD "should" be free for everyone, but who knows....everyone in this world is trying to make money...right?? HD ready is more than enough because 9 out of 10 cable customers now need a box....the boxes have the tuner built in, why pay for it if your gonna bypassit on the TV anyway.

  8. Yes Mini.  From what I hear the best calibration and techs to use are ISF certified.  Cost is anywhere b/tw $200-400.

However, what I plan on doing (at least at first until the TV is broken in) is to buy a calibration DVD (AVIA and/or DVE).  I hear that if you will spend some time, it is VERY helpful.

I dont know if you will want/need a HD-DVD player to run the disk. I dont think its absolutely necessary?

Fox--THANKS for the info!  I hear that DirecTV (my provider) doesnt have any locals or the big networks on HD signal yet.  True? I will need to run a dang antenna? I dont want to buy the HD box from DirecTV AND a built in tuner!

DO you need a HD dvd to do it...no its just the the resolution on HD TV is greater than that of a regular dvd therefore, the convergence is more accurate. As far as just playing with settings with the remote the "TV'S" adjustment are minimal, I'd take a picture for you but I don't have any hosting, but My TV has at least 40 different manual adjustment screws on it to correct it right. Furthermore, "TV's" convergence doesnt match all three colors ( Red Green Blue ) with all directions it can converge in. This means that you don't have full control and full direction to which way the seperate colors can "move". The video set up discs are VERY VERY helpful in setup , but as I have been explaining CRT is not just yesterday's technology its yesteryear's technology.

  9. thats what i had      I had to replace the convergance board that controls the guns 2 times at $800 a pop first time covered by warranty the 2nd not.  and it did again so i threw it out.  im looking at hitachi lcd 60''  for about $3000

Yeah this is why I will never buy the CRT system again. Problem is the "technology" changes almost every year ( lenses/ projectors stay the same, but the boards always change ) therefore track records on crt is almost a waste of time. The only 2 ways worth while are DLP or Plasma, since we all know plasma is way over priced, DLP seems to be the best choice. Unfortuantly CRT uses 3 seperate projectors, so convergence is not only difficult to maintain, even when you get it right its not the same from every angle. LCD is like a living membrane that light is shone through. Problem is that light literally breaks it down, so you just waiting for pic quality to diminish.

It all breaks down to what you use it for. If your a TV head and are always on it, and constantly using it to just watch TV, and sometimes a football game or what have you, RP is probably the best. If your a movie buff, and pay close attention to crispness, detail and arent constantly shutting it on and off ( I.E. you get prepared to watch the game, a movie, or like Gaming with it ) then a FP is a MUCH better chioce. IF you want the best of both or all worlds, you should seriously look into a DLP big screen, that is if this is an investment and you dont want to worry about maintence or replacement in the next 5 or 6 years,

Don't think I'm trying to steer you away from the RP crt, its just I've had a couple and all do the same thing. The screen I have now I can barely stand to watch movies on anymore, and its not worth the money to get the convergence properly fixed. Now I am a huge move buff and crispness and quality is what I want. My parents/grandparents never had a problem with it, they just watch jeopardy, and size is all that matters to their aging eyes.

  10. yeah, Plasma is not the way to go at all actually.  They are super neat though!

Ghost, Im looking at front projection options.  One problem is that I dont want to drop the cash on a sound system yet though. :(  I guess I could wait a year and do both at the same time though ;)

Completely understood, although, if you took the extra money your saving and got a 200 dollar all in one home theater in a box it would kick the poop out of ANY regular television speakers.

  11. thx Fox, thats pretty much my plan...although I am toying with the idea of getting one with HD tuner built in as I have about 8 HD channels already.  And GOOD advice with the plan, I do want one because tuning and alignment is crucial for a RP-CRT.

Ghost, I have toyed with the idea, but is installation difficult?  Will I need to mount on my celing?? I am thinking that will be more time than I can afford right now :(

You can mount on the ceiling, which is best, no shadows when you get up for popcorn and beer...i mean soda... Installation really isnt that bad little bit more than a regular TV maybe an extra hour....THe sheer size and picture quality compounded with price is what makes it great. I have a CRT now, and the problem is that the colors can very easily get otu of sync giving you a blurry picture, they can get misaligned even just from delivery :/ once they get misaligned its almost impossible to get them perfect again, so yuo HD channels look like an air antenna at best. Im not saying dont get the rear projection, just make sure you research and know what your getting into.

  12. Projector all the way, for the same money, you can get a projector with higher resoulution than the TV's your looking at, and over twice the size. I have been researching them for over a year now, and a good quality DLP projector and a nice screen kills anything else out there in crispness, resoultion and size. Check out the BenQ PB6100 you can get it, a screen, and moutnign hardware for less than 2000, and the picture is amazing.

  13. Just want to add my 2 cents in here. I have played alot of SP games as well as MP, and I just want to say, ALOT of the SP games angered me in that they were nothign more than cheap maze maps, you trying to find some little bull donkey alley or hidden spot or way to go through, or going over the same ground over and over again trying to figure out which way to turn. MOst older FPS were a waste of my time, granted there were a bunch of good ones, but alot of them weren't put together anywhere near as well as HL2, no mazes, even HL1 with the railcar section I found mazy and started to bore me, wehn I played through it a second time, I almost dreaded that section. HL2 on the other hand, WELL worth the play through, great story, put together very well, and no real running around trying o figure otu what to do, its more of a keep on running or your donkey is toast type of game....when you can take the time and finish it, youll be glad you did.
