  1. when he talks about somebody dying that is a very real issue- look at sexual assault and domestic violence rates and the personas of perpetrators.

Hell look at Elliot Rodger, its the same attitude that causes this.

why not care about fox news or the fact that 6 companies are responsible for all the media we consume outside of gaming?

Ok i watched 10 minutes and tried to sort through nonsense, I get that the issue is about fair journalism. But it seems like this brought to light an even bigger issue of sexism.

  2. yea we should just close this down

    but to summarize

    - guy goes on rant saying his ex slept with guys for game reviews

    - sexist neckbeards flip out

    - company publishes statement saying neckbeards need to calm down and that there was no breach of ethics http://kotaku.com/in-recent-days-ive-been-asked-several-times-about-a-pos-1624707346

    - racist sexist neckbeards take over twitter and youtube on a mission from god to discredit all females who do anything ever

    - female game developer gets death threats, has to fall off the grid, her life is ruined

    - feminists get tinkleed off and speak up

    - neckbeards get tinkleed at feminists, claim oppression

  3. the wiki sums it up perfectly:

In video game culture, Gamergate (sometimes referred to with the hashtag #GamerGate) is an online movement which emerged around false allegations of unethical conduct levied against indie game developer Zoe Quinn in August 2014. Some supporters of the movement have stated that they are concerned with ethical issues in video game journalism, particularly conflicts of interest between video game journalists and developers, while others have stated that they oppose feminist and other minority critiques of video games. However, the movement is most notable for its on-going campaign of misogynistic and violent threats and harassment targeting Quinn and other prominent women in gaming, which has drawn widespread condemnation. While these attacks are carried out by a minority within Gamergate, the movement's unwillingness or inability to control them has resulted in a widespread discrediting of its views and aims in mainstream sources. The harassment campaigns against women, combative rhetoric, and criticism of those examining video games from feminist or other minority perspectives has resulted in the movement being widely viewed as fighting a culture war against the increasing diversity of video game culture

you wanna talk about ethics? How about discussing the harassment of a woman? It doesn't matter if she slept with men for articles, nobody deserves death and rape threats. Period. The reason this is so big is that it is indicative of a much larger problem of sexism and misogyny in the world of video games and computer science
