  1. You know gas prices aren't going to be coming back down anytime soon .... ever right? :P

Though if you look for my car thread, I'm not really one to talk.

Convert it to diesel. Or maybe it can just run on money, just burning money for fuel--might be cheaper?

But cool, that's a nice buy! Are you going to do any additional work on it anytime soon?

  2. Yep, PC wins again. Also, they announced a day or two ago that cross-platform play is *OUT*; mainly due to problems keeping the platforms unified re: patches and updates.

Hmm so valve gave up on this? Too bad I guess

  3. Yeah just do your ghost jump and the mash m1 as fast and as often as you can until you spawn. Takes some practice to get it right--I know I still fail at it plenty, especially when trying it in tricky spots when the survivors are 90% spawn blocking.

  4. Hmm, I can see the issue with changes in attitudes and I will agree that may be a problem for some players on the server. But for me the goal of the server is for the most possible people to have as much fun as possible playing on our server. That means different things to everyone. Maybe to some it means having a well-balanced, close, competitive game... maybe to others it's just playing with people you know... maybe it means winning big and completely crushing the other team... maybe it's getting achievements, or beating up your steam friends on the other team, idk!

My point here is that it's very difficult to accommodate everyone's ideas of fun... I guess I wanted to try to address the possibility of creating more close games by using a 'handicap' feature.

While a change in attitude may be in order for some players, that's not really something we can force--unless we start kicking/banning for "bad attitudes", not sure exactly what that means--I guess you know it when you see it? I know it's hard to just--boom--change your attitude and start having fun, but if we just keep in mind that the general premise of a video game is to have fun, that may help us out here.

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread, but I think it's ok since Chick started it to give me a chance to repost my initial ideas. I'll do that sometime later after I have more time to flesh out my handicap thingy. For now, just stick to the topic title here--No hate just thoughts.

  5. I appreciate the sentiment here, but I'm just going to make a separate poll with more details when I am finished with it. I guess if anyone wants to weigh in with ideas about balancing--whether it be modifying the current scramble method, or doing something completely different... feel free to do so here.

  6. Yeah I'll try to repost this in a couple days, probably as a poll only since the attempt at discussion was so far away from the point.

In the meantime I'll try to throw a code together for the idea I do have...

  7. Wow, I just got home after an 11 hour day... this thread got so off topic I can hardly beleive it. Really, stop being so dramatic. All I was looking to do here was to propose was an idea to make the game a little more challenging for the stacked team whenever the teams inevitably are stacked. I should just restart this thread somewhere else at this point.

  8. Seeing as team scrambling rarely seems to actually make balanced teams... I have the idea to implement an automatic team handicapper. Here's the idea:

Each round when the first team leaves the saferoom, a "handicap" is calculated. Not sure what would be best for balance, but to start I'll say the handicap is 1 for every 250 pts (or part thereof) difference between the two teams scores.

Example: No mercy map 1, team A gets killed before getting out of the first building, team B gets everyone to the saferoom.

    --> Team A - 123, Team B - 900.

So when map 2 starts, the handicap will be set to 4. I'm thinking then that the winning team's players would all start with -4 pts as Survivors. That's it. No bonus points for the infected team, so no early tanks or early 5 spit/charge limit, it'll just make it a bit harder for the winning team to survive.

I think this'll be pretty easy to code--not sure though--but I just want to check for feedback here to see if anyone else is interested by this idea. Eh? Ok, feel free to shoot me down... now!

  9. You were banned for 1d for suiciding. If you wanted to swap teams, you can simply do so by typing !teams and then picking the team you want. No need to kill yourself. And if you thought you were doing your teammates a favor by not leaving them stuck with a bot, don't worry about that either. Usually someone will join in pretty fast when there is an open spot.

Thanks for the apology, and thanks for coming to the forums, it shows that you're making some effort to follow the rules. In any case, don't suicide please.

I would lift the ban but I just checked it and it's set to expire in 2 minutes, so no point to lifting it anyhow.

    Happy fragging
