  1. The problem with most R&B, House etc is usually that the majority of the time there are no musicians (especially percussionists/drummers) it's all done by machine, Turntables; but even that is a mockery as most of studio work required to produce around 75% of the tracks is done on a computer using fruity loops software, a far cry from it's birth in the 1940s.

I was at a house gig not two weeks ago with a live drummer playing at the back of the dancefloor. There are tons of live house drummers. And even if it's not "live", there is plenty of skill involved in composing electronic music. You don't need to be a virtuoso instrumentalist to be an amazing composer. I'm not going to try get you to like techno if it's not your thing - lots of people just don't like the sound of synthesizers and that's okay - but it's just as valid music as anything else.

  2. Gotta admit i'm not a huge fan of custom game modes - the main reason why i play CS is because it's a semi-realistic contemporary game, not some fantasy or arcade-y thing. I definitely think we could do with more maps in the rotation, though, even a couple of fun maps would be okay. Also, protect the VIP!

  3. I have an Alienware now so i can play games on my laptop and after much debate got my first ever smartphone - an Android. I wanted an iPhone because i loved my iPod, but i just couldn't justify $700 for a phone.

Anyone else see what I see?

LOL, fair enough. I guess i saw my M11x as replacing my Macbook (similar price range) whereas my new phone was going to replace a $99 Nokia, so :shrug03:

Regarding cheap Android phones, i have the Galaxy Gio. It's Android 2.3 and can do all the stuff i want to do on it (email, Facebook, RSS etc).

  4. I had a Macbook and iPod Touch for several years and just a few months ago i switched back to PC. I have an Alienware now so i can play games on my laptop and after much debate got my first ever smartphone - an Android. I wanted an iPhone because i loved my iPod, but i just couldn't justify $700 for a phone. My Android cost $150 and does everything my iPod Touch could do and more. Sure, the apps don't all have a consistent UI, and the user experience isn't as seamless, but for a quarter of the price it's not even a question. On top of that, it has a few killer features that iOS doesn't - in particular, you have a task manager so you can kill apps that are slowing down your phone, and you can lock in the screen rotation. I can't even explain how big of a deal that latter thing is for me. I HATE having the display rotate on me whenever i move my phone around. So yeah, guess i'm a reverse switcher for now.

  5. I'd like to see a few more too. Usually an admin will take pity on those of us who've been playing the same rotation for hours and set up a vote, but it'd be nice to have a little more variation by default.

  6. This seems like as good a place as any to say hi. I recently switched back to PC after several years on Mac, so i started gaming again. I've been playing CS on and off for about 10 years, but clearly still suck judging by my scores. I still have a lot of fun, though. It's hard to keep myself from screaming obscenities sometimes, but totally worth it to keep the good vibe of the server. I really appreciate the teamwork and positivity here. Thanks guys.
