  1. Just read Hungarian's post after I posted mine... and that just goes to show you that even 2 members on the same team, in the same game, can have different opinions on an event.

And regarding the evening of teams - the Admins' job is to ensure a fair, fun game for all 20 players - not to keep teams the same just because one side is having fun, and the other side isn't.

As a general rule, fair, balanced games should be everyone's goal. The Admins have a pretty rough job - at the end of the day we have to trust that they're doing what's best for ALL the players in the game.

  2. I was in the game (on the Infected side) during this one, and simply my opinion -- that's it and that's all:

A tank died, and before Leo and Merc dropped and ran ahead another tank was put into play. Now of course I can't hear what the other team is saying, so I don't know if this was an approved "rush" or not, but with 8 people up in the yard fighting a tank, and 2 run ahead (especially past a choke point), that certainly appears as a rush.

This one specfically is a touchy one, and can probably go either way in anyone's opinion. However, the Admins by default get the last say, and it's quite unlike Merc to rush. Not saying you rush, Leo, but you're usually at the front of the pack on your team (which is fine) - leading the way and helping block. Which is fine... usually.

But this one did look like rushing, especially when another tank (almost) immediately came into play.

Again, only my $.02, from my perspective as someone who happened to be playing at the time in question.

  3. You must not play very often, because there's a defib or two on every round (on average).

Defbs are as common as they ever were, they're just handled a different way startegically now by the Survivors.

  4. B&W on defib/respawn - it's already handled the best way by the Survivors. As soon as someone is defib'd there's at least 4/5 times when someone else (or that same person who just defib'd) immediately heals the B&W. Unless it's the end of a round and a Main is simply trying to respawn/rush to get a few extra points, it's not even really an issue very often anymore.

The same will happen with the infected medkits, once the Survivors have adapted to it.

  5. The good news is that your hard drive (where the data is actually stored) is probably not bad. Or even if it is, a majority of the data is salvageable.

First thing: remove the hard drive(s) from your current PC. Set them aside to include as secondary drives in your new machine.

Once you do get a new machine built, simply plug in the old hard drive(s) as second/third/fourth/etc drives, after the first (new OS) drive, and bam - all your data is there under D: or E: or F:, etc. (crossing fingers this works for you). If the hard drive is actually bad, there are decent software utilities that can scan a drive and attempt to recover as much data as possible.

I know how much it sucks to lose a lot of work - good luck in getting as much as possible saved!

  6. Ah, I see. In that context, your post makes much more sense. However, as we all can agree (I hope) - previous rulings by the Supreme Court have been overturned not only because they were constitutionally wrong, but also morally/ethically wrong as well (Plessy vs. Ferguson?). Perhaps the SCOTUS ruling in 1876 was also a mistake that needed fixing?

And just because Plessy v. Ferguson was done in 1896, much closer to the establishment of the country than the 1954 ruling, doesn't make it more "right" or "the way it should be" - correct?

George Washington's address to the second session of the First U.S. Congress:

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty, teeth and keystone under independence. The church, the plow, the prairie wagon and citizens' firearms are indelibly related. From the hour the pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that, to ensure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable. Every corner of this land knows firearms, and more than 99 and 99/100 percent of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil influence. They deserve a place of honor with all that's good. When firearms go, all goes. We need them every hour."

  7. Might wanna brush up on some later Supreme Court decisions regarding the 2nd Amendment there, Shaft.

As in, a ruling made only 5 years ago:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller

Holding: "The Second Amendment guarantees an individual's right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit affirmed."

Personal 2nd Amendment rights were ruled by the DC ciruit, and affirmed by the SCOTUS.

In fact, as recent as 2010 the SCOTUS ruled that state and local regulations must be bound by the same restrictions as the federal limits, in regards to the 2nd Amendment.

Now having said all that, I think that the guy in this video is simply trying to move the goalposts of the discussion.

  8. Meh. A 1% chance for an extra 2 points, and a survivor that needs healed straight away. Very situational - if a Survivor happens to be near incap'd, it's pretty evil. If he's infected right out of the safe room, it's pretty negligible.

Lord knows the Survivors don't need anything else hindering them, huh? ;)

  9. Uber Boomer--drops 4 witches on the ground when you pop: 100 pts

    Make it happen!

Drop em in the safe room, so that they don't spawn randomly on roofs/behind barriers/etc.

Random Boomer infections (1 out of every 100 infections) insta-kills a Survivor (like a witch attack on Expert).

One out of every 10,000 booms... that sounds low. 1 out of every 10 infections then. If you get infected, 10% chance of death!

  10. So I blew out a giant hole in the ground, and just so no ones like WHOA awesome hard work it took like 6 hours in creative mode with TNT.

Wait you're using creative mode to build this thing? That's kind of unfair...none of the other admins do that.

Lol - complaining about "fairness" in Minecraft.

Large scale projects require Creative mode to be able to actually accomplish something of a large enough scale. If not, you have a lot of impressive, large-ish things in the world, but nothing of the 0_0 factor like other servers have.

As long as it's not abused (and it wasn't at all in this case, (my opinion)), I have no problem with Admins using Creative mode to build something for everyone to use. If this had been just another castle or large building that had restrictions/permissions/etc on it, that would be a different story.

  11. **Well, this wasn't short, as what always happens, but if you are adverse to reading(that means you don't like it) please at least read the last paragraph. Thanks. :P

So by these rules, the admins would not be able to change anything about the server for fun when they are on. This gives an advantage to one team or another.

No more slapping Yuri, because it will push her along further, and that would ruin the 'game' and the 'fun' of her running wherever Yuri goes (I really don't know. I'd be interested to find out though).

No more giving the losing team more points to compensate for a lack of skill when they are losing by 3000+ points.

No more Boomer/Jockey rounds for infected.

No more Tanks on the Survivors side(when he's the last one left, Infected vs last survivor + tanks

No more.....pretty much any variation of just trying to make it to the safe room, because someone might get mad that other people want to have fun for a round.

I hate political correctness. I really do. Things like 'Charger dodgeball' on a finale when the score is decided by 2000+ points make the ending fun for both sides, and is a lot more fun. I am the most competitive person I know, but when the finale rolls around and your team is losing by 2000 points, yeah, let loose, have some fun. In the end, that's what this game is for, to have fun. At the heart of GC, the goal is to have fun and to make friends in the process.

If we all played the game with no variations, Fenix, everyone would be a lot more bitter than before, no one would switch, and we all wouldn't really like each other. I'll tell you what, when I play my heart out, only to see my team play poorly, and get owned by the other team, yeah, I want to have another sort of fun every once in a while. We don't have to be heartless bastards that must play every round exactly according to plan, lest someone gets angry with it. That's what makes us human; different interests. I am all for this because if the TEAM wants to, then it'll happen. Just like if I yell for the team to save me, and they stand around looking stupid, I won't get saved.

Things like holding a terrible spot WHEN THE GAME IS ALREADY DECIDED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, or going only secondary weapons on a finale, or even the Talpa Challenge make the game fun. If 2/18 people don't like it, well, then majority rules, I'm sorry, I really am. If you change it, 8/9 people won't like it.And that doesn't make sense either. When you play a five round campaign, your team is down by 2000 points, on the finale, and there is another fresh five round campaign on the horizon, and you don't want to relax and have fun on the last round before the new campaign? Too bad. Play better, you will have lots more chances to prove yourself.

Just one more thing and I'll let you go, and bear with me on this one.

If you calculate the pure odds, assuming all rounds of all campaigns take exactly the same amount of time, and 'Survivor dodgeball' happens every single hard rain and no mercy finale, it happens 2/52. For simplicity's sake, let's say 2/50, or a 4% chance every time you play, this happens. Now, I know for a fact that this usually happens in 10% of those finales, from what I've played(and that is being completely generous in itself), but since we don't have the exact statistics, I'll let you have 'Survivor dodgeball' occurring 100% of those finales.

This means that for 96% of the time you play on this server, it is fun, and you are content with the server, and everything is hunky dory. And 4%(a very generous 4, in my opinion) of the time you hate it with a fiery passion that consumes worlds. That's FOUR PERCENT of the time you spend on the server! It's 2/50, 1/25, less that two and a half minutes per hour you are discontent with the server.

Now, if you can't just power though it, I understand. But I also see that you are a CONTRIBUTING MEMBER. Which means you can leave the server, grab a bite to eat, go to the bathroom, do whatever it is you want to do instead of 'Survivor dodgeball', AND STILL COME BACK AT THE START OF THE NEXT CAMPAIGN!

Now, if this is not good enough for you, there is another issue at hand, you need to be entertained and happy 100% of the time at all times while playing Left for Dead, well, I'm sorry it's not going to happen. It just isn't. If the majority wants it to happen, it will happen. This is a GAME. Not killing anyone for real, lynching anyone, or breaking the law. It's called having fun, and it will happen 4% of the time without you.

If enjoying a server 96% of the time isn't good enough for you, well, then I hate to break it to you, but this is not the server for you.

**EDIT: There is a reason why all of the old timers and regulars like to change it up a bit every now and then. And if you want to stop me from having fun, well, that would make a lot more loyal players feel robbed.

Speaking of robbed, I need to pay my membership, it just expired lol....Lookback!! I need you!!! I need help! haha :P

This completely disregards the fact that for the losing team, those other 4/5 levels (not including the finale) are *not* fun. It's 4 levels of one team getting absolutely destroyed. Remember we're not talking about every match... just the matches in which, by the 2nd or 3rd level, the scores are so disparate that the game is basically over.

You are having fun because you're on the winning team. The other half of the people on the Server are building up rage. And that's when the trouble starts.

And keep in mind, none of the proposed changes or suggestions would preclude the winning team from instituting 2nd level weapons only, or Admin slapping, or Boomer/Jockey rounds, etc. If the winning team continues to rack up the points, they can continue to play however the majority of the team decides to play. It's not about political correctness (and that's a term that gets thrown around now anytime there's a disagreement on anything), it's about maximizing fun for the most number of players, for the most number of rounds.

  12. It's obvious in what form he meant the swastika, as he has admitted he did it to "grief" and cause trouble. Any rational person can interpret his actions and intent accordingly.

  13. Good riddance to ya.

And lol - I knew you'd try the whole "swastikas were used way before the Third Reich" excuse. I'm certain you meant the ancient Hindu symbol when you made those on the Server. Some hate-filled people are so predictable.

On a side note - if you need a hard-set "rule" against being an idiot of this magnitude, you're better off playing somewhere else and never stepping foot on another GC Server again.

  14. Yeah so i took so many screenshots of the prank we did to dude.. its not really a.. pranks but it was funny :)

Oh and we pranked baloosh too :D

Meh. I demand OP for a day so I can get retaliation.
