  1. Peanuts monologue

Kill zombies? Well, now, let me see. You know, I don’t have any idea what that means. I know what you think it means, sonny. To me, it’s just a made up phrase. A politician’s phrase, sonny. Young fellas like yourself can wear a jeans and a shirt and have a gun. What do you really want to know? Am I sorry for what I did? There’s not a day goes by I don’t feel regret. Not because I died. Because you think I shouldn't have. I look back on the way I was then. A young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. I want to try to talk some sense to him. Tell him the way things are. But I can’t. That kid’s long gone and this old man’s all that’s left. I got to live with that. Kill zombies? That’s just a bullcrap phrase. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because, to tell you the truth, I don’t give a crap.

  2. I kinda enjoy the nerf myself. Just stop complaining and don't stand in the open like a bunch of hillbillys. If the hunter is removed or reduced more I'm going to kill myself.

I never wanted to remove the hunter.  And if I want to be a hillybilly, damnit, I will be.

  3. I swore I would stay out of this. Heck this freaking argument Is why I dropped out for almost a month (that and fall out 4 turbo).

It is not about blame nor getting players to play better. The thinking of the pronerf side is that land a few good 25 damage pounces and you have your tank.

What I see now is that the hunter still lands those pounces and now instead of the tank coming out, the team can capatalize the survivors animation freeze. I see more team work where it is not wait for the hunters to get a tank and ride the coat tails. It lengthens the game for everyone.

My two and one half cents.

  4. Carlos stop telling fibs.

Spoiler alert! Peanut dies at the end of this story.

It's not the destination, but the journey that is important. We all die at the end of our respective stories. The question is, how many did Peanut take down along the way?

  5.

(jackie, can you put invisible props in the walls of the map to stop ceiling pouncing? or maybe normal props, at that distance they wouldnt render for survivors aniway)

Not gonna happen. If I was going to do something like that, do you know how LONG that would take?

while on the topic, death charges should be rawarded 3 or 2 more points. they also require a lot of skill, teamwork or dumb luck.

A death charge is a kill. You get awarded 5 points for killing Survivors. This has never been different ever and I feel should stay that way. Don't really see the skill behind death charging someone obliviously walking front of you or charging a Smoker's victim off a pier.

for the life of me I dont understand why does a hunter get some many points for a pounce when you only get 5 for a death charge

i dont get any for a long smoke or a charger doesnt get any for a long charge.

Or change it so EVERY SI gets a tank when they get their achievement.

It seems like only the hunters think its too low.

Because Hunters get points proportional to the amount of damage they deal in that attack. It would make no sense to me to give Hunters 1 point no matter how much of a damage pounce they do. No other SI has an ability like that...which makes them special.  If they all had something like that, I don't think this thread would exist.

So, you don't think that chargers don't take much skill in doing a death charge?  First you have to find a place to do a death charge.  Hope you don't hit some random invisible or small barrier.  Then you have to compensate for lag and moving players.

Let's see, hunters get to do a high pounce from any where they want, using the invisible wall exploit.  Hunters have to watch out for barriers, and also compensate for lag and moving players.

"compensating for lag and moving players" is much harder for hunters.

Finding a place to actually do it is harder for a charger.  They cannot just pick any old place they want like hunters.

However, Hunters are compensated for this by getting larger points.

    Chargers get 5 points.

Seems fair.  But hey, death charges don't take much skill.

  6. I want to just say this.  This whole conversation is going no where, and just annoying both sides of the spat.  Something was done to adjust the hunter, though obviously you don't agree with it Jackie.  Just lock this conversation and let's see what the adjustments do to game play.

  7. I don't know about you, but I enjoy a good game where it is carried by great team work. I actually don't prefer games carried by the few that get the early tanks.

That I guess raises another difference in people. Some prefer the quick kill off the survivors and others prefer a good evenly matched game that is more of a nail biter. I have very fond memories of games where we make an awesome last minute push to kill the survivors as they are entering the safe room.

So in my opinion, I think it is boring watching a very talented few who get the quick tanks end a round early.

  8. i think he meant to say that nerfing it any further would pretty much make the hunters pointless.

Nerfing the hunter in terms of points allocated for a given action does not render a hunter useless. The amount of damage done by the pounce should remain the same. Sometimes you play a class, not for the points it generates, but how it helps the overall team. I charge a person healing to stop the healing knowing that I will get killed in a sec and not get many points. I smoke a person just to set them up for the death charge. Points are not the end all be all of this game. I think people lose perspective because of the almighty points.

  9.

And i think the smoker under the map is just in a invisible caves equates to hunters jumping on the sky

You can see the hunter most of the time though I will admit that in areas you can climb beyond the sight rendering distance. Smokers under the map can not been seen, and it is impossible to tell the distance from the tongue to the actual smoker itself. Do I have a problem with it? No. It is actual quite funny to me honestly.

I never meant smokers under a map.  That is an exploit.  I was referring to new opportunities that would be open to a smoke with a longer reach.  I can hide, but in some places I cannot reach the survivors because they don't go near the area.  That is all I meant.

  10.

Yes, Smokers/Jockeys are still the gimped point earners, but they are also the most vulnerable

maybe give them more hp and speed? faster reloading for the smoker too.

they need longer tongues and they need to move

plz no, when aiming at a group there would be a greater chance of picking up the people in front instead of the last one.

also, depending on the lenthg of the tounge it could be abused in areas where the smoker has to be sneaky to drag down survivors.

Smoker has to be sneaky like the hunter has to find good pounce points without relying on invisible walls?

  11.

............................and another game turned into a suck fest...................nerf the hunter

Cut the points in half, people will still get pounced regardless of how many points you lower it.

Basically you want to remove the hunter altogether because of your inability to look up for hunters, yeah its the hunters fault for survivors not sticking to the basic and most simple of things, look up and dodge. At least that's the feeling I get from this thread.

No one is talking about taking the hunter away.  No one wants to reduce the amount of damage a hunter does.  The only thing that is being discussed is reducing the amount of points that a hunter produces.  Think of it in a Warcraft frame of mind I guess.  DPS.  A hunter, in many peoples opinion has a higher DPI than any other infected class.  Agreed there is a skill to being able to regularly get those types of pounces.  However, in many people's opinions, it throws the balance of the game off.  If you get a team with one or two good pouncers vs a team with good jockeys and boomers, it is no contest, the hunter team will have the tank first.

I have made my views on this apparent prior to this thread.  I think the combination of being able to "jump off of nothing but sky" and the big points provided by the pounce is out of balance.  Since no one wants to upset anyone and say that pouncing off of invisible walls is an exploit, then we are left with talking about the points.
