  1. Politics - Shmolitics B)

And for the full song for those of you yunguns who don't now J. Geils

Now some people think the world is what it ain't

To some I'm a sinner, to others a saint

Some folks say the world ain't what is is

All I know is I just got to take a wiz

Where am I goin' and where have I been

My head's in the clouds and my tail's in a spin

Jumpin' out of planes for the thrill of it all

Then I bounce back and take a tinkle On The Wall

    Politics - Shmolitics

    They oughta save their breath

    Mean streak - blue streak

    They sentence me to death

    Harangue me from a tree

Twist and shout until I crawl

Do the flip - do the flop

    tinkle On The Wall

Well the Yanks hate the Reds

And the Greeks hate the Turks

I really hate to say it

But they're all a bunch of jerks

    Seems like everybody's shakin'

'Cause the big one's 'bout to fall

I'm just tryin' to hold it steady while I

    tinkle On The Wall

    and to follow the rules

  2. Interesting points here.

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/16/cam....ads/index.html

$30 million dollars a week in ads. If candidates would just post up their positions & take that money and help the country lets see...from now to election it would be $60 million in help. How many mortages could you save with that? How many people could get medical care? How many mouths could you feed?

But no...instead they spend all that money bashing the other guy.

It's the America we live in and it crosses parties and it's really kinda sad.

  3. Dunno if she is a business owner, I got the impression she is a store manager...maybe she meant she owned them both.

Regardless...I know the "No Child Left Behind" stuff is directed at kids getting good grades. My sister (a teacher) was talking about how if your school falls behind the government will actually come in and take it over. It's a huge mess if you can imagine when that happens. I suspect kids with these type of issues will find troubles in the program but I'm not sure...Perhaps I'll shoot her a note & see if she knows.

As far as this lady...Yea, I could see where having a child with a disability could turn your voting very easily. Honestly I'd have liked to hear her explain why. She says her child would be left behind...but what would be different if Obama is elected and how does she mean left behind? I understand healthcare and insurance issues...but what would be different to her if Obama is elected.

So, interesting content but horrid interview cause he didn't get any facts besides "This lady who manages 2 stores and has a special needs child is voting for Obama".

Reporter loses 2 points for information failure:)

  4. My apologies...I did not mean to infer that the economic problems we are having were fully due to Carter and Clinton, nor the bad mortgages they were pushing companies to give out. I think the economic problems we have are more caused by greed...corporate greed, personal greed, government greed...in that order.

The credit issue was all I was referring to...and again...I can't blame the mortgages for all of that even.

  5. Ok, that is certainly up there in my favorate internet things.

Best part is at first, knowing Fatty and you crazy .gc people, I thought it was real...I think it was about the time I saw the sign on the bus I gave up...yes, I even considered the possibility that the billboard was real...LOL

Great find...I'll have lots of fun with that one:)

  6. 1) get the fed to lower interest rates to historic low's

    2) encourge the population to spend spend spend after 9/11 to help boost the economy.

    3) had government surpluses each year rather than handing everyone a $300 check.. (this is tied the value of the dollar which is in the toilet, but is now gaining because the world investors believe the US economy will recovery before the rest of the worlds)

    1. low interest rates should help people buy houses they can afford and be a good thing. You read what they were doing...giving loans at a 1% increase in rate which would go away after 2 years of not missing payment? It's saying you don't expect them to make it 2 years.

    2. spending is good for the economy...I was never encouraged to take out loans.

    3. can't argue with that...but then again, giving $300 to everyone is a better way to spur the economy than giving everyone a loan they can't afford IMO.

Guess I'll agree to disagree with you on this one. I think there is plenty of blame to go around. My point was just that it was a democratic policy to push these loans.

  7. Here ya go...

    http://www.cnn.com:80/2008/POLITICS/10/09/...sues/index.html

One recent criticism by conservatives has surrounded the Community Reinvestment Act. This act, passed in 1977 under Jimmy Carter and then strengthened by Bill Clinton, pressured mortgage companies to lend to those with poor credit and lower income.

I also found the NYT article at work but since it's not accessable to everyone I can't link to it but...

September 30, 1999, Thursday, Late Edition - Final

    SECTION: Section C; Page 2; Column 5; Business/Financial Desk

    LENGTH: 818 words

HEADLINE: Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid MortgageLending

    BYLINE: By STEVEN A. HOLMES

    DATELINE: WASHINGTON, Sept. 29

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

Carter, Clinton and the darn stockholders...can't take any blame away from them.

    Now you can believe:)

  8. Actually the credit crisis is a result of Clinton...the only mistake Bush made was not realizing it and fixing it. (probably cause he was too busy invading countries)

I read a NYT article from back in the Clinton days and his administration were the ones pushing for these easy to get loans so everyone could go in debt...errr...I mean buy a house. It was in an email so I don't have a link.

Beyond that...don't blaming the government for peoples ignorance.

I do agree with the game...The investors have really screwed the pooch on this one eh? It's why most of my 401k is in money markets. Never trust anyone to invest your money. Their goal is to make money for themselves, not you.

  9. Ummm...companies don't matter...people do. What happens to all these families who aren't paying their mortgage if the company isn't bailed out? What happends to them if it is? Bottom line, we have to figure out how to help those people have a place to live. I'm not happy about the situation and I'm kind of a jerk regarding those who are in debt up to their ears but I also don't want kids living on the street.

I've said it before...we as a people got ourselves in this mess by accepting credit and loans we could not afford. No corporation or government put us here.

As the old saying goes..."when you point your finger there are 3 others pointing back at you".

or is it "fool me once.....we won't be fooled again", I forget;)

  10. Haven't been to vegas in quite a while but when I went we did some day trips up and down the strip. You should take the walk & see the different casino's, very cool stuff. Since I'm not a huge gambler we did some slots but actually paid for our drinks instead of losing money to get them for free. At the time a beer was like a buck and mixed drinks were silly cheap.

And remember...Free != Free cause you still have to tip for things.

  11. Im anti-corporation, so naturally I think anyone who was a CEO of a company will run any government office the same way they ran the company.

Interesting...might warrant a new thread but could lead to great arguments;)

I can see being sickened by corporate greed (as I am) but anti-corporation? Consider where we would be as a society without the growth spawned by corporations. I'm sure I'd not be able to get oranges here in Cincinnati without corporations and imagine where computers would be without them.

  12. Don't let him fool ya. He's obviously attempting to fool people into thinking that he's not the NOFX that we have known for years. Another "liberal" attempt to pull the wool over our eyes.

It won't work on this voter bucky...I see through your attempts :stretch:

Now, seriously...whats up with that? The band change names or something?
