I'll probably just wait until prices drop then experiment with a second card.
-
ruff, what monitor do you have?
Dell 2405.
-
How do you like it?
-
That is a VERY nice setup there Ruff - and a good price.
Hang on - Did you find that at Hardforum? I think that sold yesterday - were you the buyer?
Yessir,
I found it on the Hardforum, I figure I could tinker with it a bit and it will play UT3 without a problem, I wanted that CPU.
-
I just found a guy trying to sell the following, sounds like the way to go:
Maximus Formula SE (Intel X38 DDR2 PCIE 2.0 board)
Intel QX6700 2.66GHz 2x 4MB cache processor (unlocked multiplier, revision B3)
Tuniq Tower 120 HSF
8GB (4x 2 GB) GSkill DDR2-800 RAM (w/ orange heatspreaders)
Western Digital 160GB SATAII 8MB cache
Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card
MSI GeForce 8800GTX OC 610MHz/2000MHz video card
HiPro 700W Power Supply (Black)
Pioneer 110-D DVD+/-RW drive (Black)
Lian Li PC-60 Plus II aluminum case (Black)
$1400 shipped
I think I will just buy this box and change out what I want later.
-
(2) 8800GT's would be sweet.
According to the nvidia site only the 8800GT has 112 SP, the GTS has 96.Which GTS has 112 SP???New ones? -
Is quad core the future or fluff?
-
what budget are we working with? similar to your old one, i.e. $2500?
Yessir!
I have a little room if needed.
-
I purchased my existing rig from ABS 4 years ago, it set me back $2500 and it served me well, but with the advent of these new games (UT3, etc.), I want to try and build my own rig, I would like to build a rig that will last me another 4 years so any input will be appreciated.
I am gonna go with the CoolerMaster 830 stacker case (plenty room) and I also like the Intel QX6700 CPU/EVGA 680i mobo combo.
-
I use a Dell 2407 and its been a great monitor.
-
Question:
How do you check framerates?
-
I would stick with a LCOS rear projection, both Sony SXRD and JVC HD-ILA offer LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon).
-
dual core, quad core.
Looks like I gotta start studying these CPUs again, I was looking at the Intel QX6700 and its a $900 unit, what is gonna keep people from just buying a PS3 or a x360 and calling it a day?
-
Do you prefer AMD over Intel for gaming? or is this strictly a pricing thing?
-
LOL, and I was wondering why the graphics looked funny.
Thanx for the info FK, I will definitely get started on that, hey Wentz I will give it a try.
-
FK,
This box was built a little over 4 years ago, it has a Intel 875P mobo with a P4 3.0GHz 800M 478P chip, it has 1 GB ram with a Soundblaster audigy 2 platinum eX sound and the ATI 9800 pro 256mb vid.
If I can patch it up just let me know what it needs, there might still be some life left in the old nag.
-
It's called post processing, heard of HDR right. Go into the video options and under post processing set it to default to turn the "blur" off.
Wow you running a 24 incher Ruff? Can that 9800 keep up?
I use a Dell 24 inch LCD and the old 9800 Pro does all right, but it sounds like I need to step up a bit , what would you guys recommend as a replacement???
I appreciate the info.
BTW it looks and plays great on UT2K4.
-
Either RUF or MurdaOne.
-
The graphics on UT3 are not as clear as UT2K4, I don't know what Epic was shooting for but they seem a little blurred to me, I run mine at 1920 x 1200 with a ATI 9800 Pro 256mb.
-
Geez this thing installs SLOOOOOOOW.
-
LOL, the Best Buy version has a hidden character.
ALANNA.
-
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
-
The UT3 release had totally slipped my mind, I guess I will go down and grab a copy, its gonna be hard to let UT2K4 ONS go.
-
I look at the Crysis and Call of Duty 4 demos and they are really short, however they are fantastic and it really leaves you foaming at the mouth for more.
I am going to try out this COD4.
For sale like new UT3 PC game
in Multi-Player FPS
Its starting to grow on me also, especially since I can see it now.
