  1. I saw the movie first. I went in not expecting anything.

I came away with the following impressions:

    1) They rushed everything.

    2) There was NO charater development in either Eragon, Saphira, and Murtah, even at the end Eragon seemed like a green bumbler that got lucky.

    3) Some characters seemed very unnatural (ie Galbatorix, Brom as an old man but he was better when he was a teacher, Eragon's brother...etc)

    4) The dungeon rescue scene was complete and uter poo...I thought it half baked to introduce a love intrest.

    5) The introduced the Varden and the only thing I thought of was...wow...they are extreemly tackey.

However I thought about the story and thought that it had incredible potential and they might have stood a chance if they had 3+ hours to develope the story,a better wardrobe, and a less forced storyline (bad writting). So the movie inspired me to pick up the book. I'm on page 300 of 500 pages and at this point I felt like I watched a movie about a dragon and a dude with the same names..but that's where the similarity ends.

The book reads very well and developement is nice and slow. Nothing is rushed, the characters are rich and complex. I could go on and on...

The problem is this....the author of the book used himself as the basis for the protagonist...a 15-16 year old boy who by luck or destiny finds a dragon. And because Eragon and the author are the same he is writting Eragon how he would want to progress. He gets smarter, he gets stronger and faster, he weilds deadly magic with practice. Sure he has his fumble moments...but overall he want to be seen as a rising hero.

Now enter hollywood and the era we live in. Gone are the days of Connan and Van Damme and all the big beefy guys who are just awesome from the start of the movie through the end. Nowadays we have Neo and Frodo...the little guys who get the crud kicked out of them until something clicks and THEN they are all that and a bag of potato chips. So that is what they did to Eragon...made him a weenie until the very end.

    Booo Hollywood...Horay Book!

  2. Nothing keeps the anoying co-workers away like explosive diareha.

If this guy has been around for 25+ years and isn't running the place, then he's probably an average-to-sub-standard worker who has no right to abuse company policy and/or pester the hard working n00bs.

If anything he's a drain on company funds due to his tenure and periodic raises over his two+ decade employment...plus he probably does less work than you do on a daily basis.

I'd talk to the guy first about the annoyance (nicely at first), if he goes away then you probably wont even think about the meal issue. After that, I'd go to the boss and explain the situation. Sure you may burn a bridge...but did you really want the bridge to begin with?

(On the back-fire side of things, complaining might reveal that he has more pull than you think and he could get you fired. Concider yourself warned.)

  3. My unit is mobilizing and I'll be deployed to SW Asia, aka the Sandbox aka Iraqi Freedome, aka....ah you get the idea.

Its a short stint of about a 1-1/2 month to 2 months.

Have a good Halloween and Thanksgiving!!

  4. I dont think I'm going to logic this to death.

I'll get the console that releases the games I want to play. Thats been the drive behind everything...computer cant run game "x" then I upgrade, its the same with consoles.

I have a Comp, PS2 and GC. I have all those because they have games that give me the felling that I'm justified with my purchase. The only reason why I dont have Xbox is because I beat Halo on my last Military trip to Turkey on someone elses and I havent found any other games worth getting an Xbox for.

So right now, 360 has nothing I want to play; Zelda will be on GC and Wii (so I stick with GC), and PS3 will get FF XIII...so I'll probably purchase PS3.

This also avoids release date issues and price. I'll just get my system when the game comes out.

    My 2 cents.

  5. So, for example if I'm closes to Chicago (which would have a gamerail system that connects to LA) then I could connect at Chicago and Rail over to LA and have 1/2 the normal ping I'd have to LA through my crud ISP. Not a bad idea.

  6. pft, i got good tv channels AFTER those cool shows like GI Joe and Transformers...I got stuck with the reruns of the Bugs Bunny Hour, the Jetsons and the other goodie goodie crud that Goofus was talking about.

The first time I saw the Transformers Movie where Megatron blew a hole in the middle of one of the autobots....now THAT was awesome american cartoons!

  7. Previous Owner 94 Mustang V6

    Problems:

Head Gasket went out at 70k, needed motor replacement

Muffler went bad 3 times in 8 years (last one in 1.5 years since getting last one)

Front barrings started to screech twice, needed replacement cause Ford doesn't use greasing zerks

    needed brake rotors machined once

Broke radiator and they had to pull it and replace it

    All that aside:

    33 mpg when driven responsibly

    low insurance when paid for

    Not the best car ever.

  8. Picking at it will not make the scab go away....it just makes a scar. I'll be buying it as soon as it comes out, in the mean time I get to take the money I'd spend on the game, plus the money on any comp upgrades, and stick it into a 6 to 12 month, high intrest CD. Might as well have money that's already spent earn some intrest eh?

  9. Yes yes, I've become hooked on the game of golf. I'm horrid at it right now cause I've only been at it for 3 weeks, but I'm in heaven when I'm on the course.

My first single outing was today. I did a 9-hole run at our local club.

Hole Out for the front nine is 36....um, I hit 64.... I botched it up big time on a par 3 and a par 4 where I hit a 7 and 10 respectively.

    Hole:Handicap:Mens Par:My Score

    1:4:7:8

    2:3:17:5

    3:5:15:7

    4:4:11:7

    7:4:13:6

    8:4:5:7

How do I determine my handicap? And how do I determine my handicap after every additional round.

Golf is confusing and I cant hit the fairway to save my life. But man is it fun!

  10. Pft!!! Getting the ring and the yes is the easiest thing about the whole wedding thing. Just remember when you are having spats about how much the flowers for the wedding will cost, remember....flowers will wither and die...but your wife will always rub it in if she doesn't get what she wants on HER wedding!!!

    j/k :)

Seriously, congratulations and a long and happy life to you both!!!!

  11. You conceited majority represent the idiocy of the whole West.

This blows my mind. This is the reason I love living in the MidWest...values man!

Did you know that when I was 13 that some people in New York was floored that I was using a computer and from the MidWest, they thought we still used horse drawn carts and didn't have electricity. Geez...
