  1. It's definately due to time differences, lag, and whatnot. It's been a long time since I've gotten blood decals to show up but have no damage dealt unless I die immediately after this occurs. (but man, was that aggravating when it I used to have to empty half a shotgun at point-blank to score).

I was over playing Halo 2 at a friend today, and while it handles lag much differently (worse IMO), the same principle works just fine: apply bullets until desired effects are achieved :D

  2. So... is just like a VNC sort of thing? Just curious because I earn myself my pocket money cleaning computers, and I'm always interested in things of this sort :).

    reinstalling itself upon each restart
My favourite are the ones that install as system drivers or hook into the logon process so they start up in safe mode, too. Boot CD's are a pain to use, but Windows CD's make me cry :freak3:
  3. Ascendency would be fine if we could just get rid of the levi!

But seriously - could you imagine UT maps in Counterstrike? You'd be playing for five minutes seeing nobody before getting shot in the head by somebody you couldn't even see. Not to mention that Source would probably render the whole thing at 5 frames per second. :freak3:

  4. You'd be looking for this. It strips out the FairPlay DRM of the AAC files, and from there you can use any number of programs to play or burn the resulting files. I know foobar will play them for sure, and I have a Winamp plugin that does the same. I wouldn't doubt if there's an AAC/M4A DirectShow filter to let Windows Media and a whole host of other players to use the files too. Nero should also be able to burn them straight to CD (if not out of the box, then I guarantee there's a Nero plugin for it).

Oh... it's written in Java by the way; you'll need the Sun JRE if you don't already have it. :)

  5. delete the autoexec? That's not so bad; all you should lose is the soundblaster drivers and maybe a couple of non-essential TSR's. Back around that time, I had the fortune of breaking the win31 video drivers on my uncle's computer (thought I could get it to do 256 colour when I saw it had a fancy 512K graphics board :laughcry:). I was given a stack of 5-1/4 inch floppies labeled "Windows 3.11 for Workgroups". Fun times. :freak3:

I actually have a friend spending time in Toronto right now. I'd tell you to say hi for me, but I don't know if you'll see him since he tells me that Toronto is a tad bit bigger of a place than it is out here in the sticks. :biglaugha:

  6. Logitech MX510

Mouse acceleration at medium in the control panel applet (no disabling for games)

    USB polling rate of 250ms

and 4.2 with no filtering for Counter-Strike

before I got this mouse, it was default everything :)

  7. I like my MX510 (in the spiffy blue), but I pretty much had to relearn how to aim. Burned an hour or two playing against 15 bots with only knives (aim for the head :D) after realizing how much I sucked. It sure is nice to not have those mouse attacks anymore though! The old thing would sporadically disconnect and reconnect - control loss for two seconds, or it would just make a sharp jump into the corner of the screen. But, I suppose that's what I get for Frankensteining two half-dead mice together just to save a buck. :spin2:

...as for that first Newegg link - where's the other four mouse buttons on that thing?
