  1. Lighting your hand on fire after dousing it with bug spray was the coolest thing in the world. Boy Scouts was all about pyrotechnics, violent games and horseplay (well and ultimate frisbee), and playing Magic the Gathering. Camp Tesomas was where I went pretty much every summer for a week...I have a lot of memories there.

  2. Yeah, sorry about that Decayed:( I just haven't had enough free time to get to practice regularly to be up to snuff on the strats. It seems you guys are acting as a cohesive unit again with all of the recent wins. Keep it up guys, I will be pulling for ya!

  3. Hey everyone,

First off, let me say that this is the by far the greatest gaming community I have ever been a part of. I have had lots of fun playing with the UT and CS folks over this past year. I have seen the community grow as we have added many new faces, and I have seen others fade away as they leave to do things other than gaming. I don't think anyone leaves the GC with anything but a positive experience.

That said, August 30th I will be leaving to study in Europe, and will not be returning until May 21st. I will be studying in London, England and Szeged, Hungary for a semester apiece, with plans to travel to Germany, The Netherlands, France, Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, and Israel and possibly other countries as well. During that time I will not have regular computer access, and will probably not be able to play games. I am also taking a position August 1st that will occupy most of my availible time until I leave. As such, I will not be renewing my membership with the GC this year. I will still post here on the forums and try and keep you informed of my travels (with pictures!).

Thanks so much guys, it's been a lot of fun. I would give a shout out to all of my "homiez", but there are too many of you to mention. (Except for Brillow, who needs a good "mentioning". Thanks for getting me to join, even though it cost a whole $25. It was worth every cent and more.)

    Peace guys,

  4. Played CS from Beta 3.x to Beta 6, then picked it up again when source came out. I picked up the original Half-Life less than a month after it came out, when all the rave reviews in PC gamer gave it the "best score of all time". I played on a Pentium 2 350 MHZ processor and an 8-meg ATI video card (but upgraded later to a 32 megabyte Stealth cheapo card) and had only a dial-up connection. I remember the good old days when the MP5 Navy had a scope, as well as the Colt. The counter-terrorists had much better weapons back then.

But my favorite Half-Life mod is Team Fortress Classic. Which is probably why I still suck at CS:(

BTW, does anybody remember playing mods like Science and Industry, Vampire Slayer, Natural Selection, Action Half-Life, or Sven Co-op?

  5. Looks like I choose the only "go without" option....

Car broke down 2 months ago (will cost over $1000 to fix, it's worth about half that) and now use my bike or feet to get anywhere exclusively (or bum rides when I need to travel any more than 10 miles).

  6. Traverse City abd Petosky are absolutely beautiful cities in Michigan. The northern part of the "mitten" of Michigan is a great area. Grand Rapids isn't that bad either. Outside of Detroit/Flint/parts of the upper peninsula Michigan isn't a bad state at all.

  7. Now, I agree that a mandatory seat belt law is dumb as the author pointed out, but I wholly disagree with his use of language in the arguement. He repeatedly calls it "socialism", but socialism is an economic system, not a civil/moral issue.

Socialists have long been seen as those who favor a state controlled economy (with the state owning the means of production) and less state control over civil issues. State control of both economic and civil issues is facism.

  8. Well, even if it isn't officially Summer, it sure feels like it. I just called time and temp, and it's 93 degrees Farenheit here (and about 100% humidity). My house (like many other Wisconsin homes) has absolutely no air conditioning. Those inches of insulation I built up over the Winter aren't helping me now. *gack*

How's the weather where you live?

  9. TFC is awesome. I was an awesome sniper...probably one of the few people that could play that class well, as well as a good engy and decent medic. There was no greater feeling than one gets after throwing a MIRV gernade down a hallway and watching a HW guy at full health explode.

It's bizzare because now I am terrible at sniping at CS:P Probably because I have to stand still while trying to get a clean shot.
