    think about it if there was a war against people that wanted us all dead both united states and canada would start looking like iraq? every day something would blow up or someone important shot at if we were really at war with a enemy capable of destroying our way of life?

    Believe me I care about you and my family friends neighbors strangers that have helped me in life I care about the earth I care a lot so that is why I get emotional over this stuff and never want anyone hurt that does nothing wrong no civilian should be a target in any war!

     

    when 9-11 happened when the buildings actually collapsed I had to pull off the road because the tears would not stop falling and I just could not understand why and how something like that could happen?

    I have never read a news article yet that did not leave some fact out or put some kind of spin on a story. Better to wait for the "accused" to have their day in court before you "judge" there to be something "smelly" about this situation.

     

    You either respect our legal system or you don't, either way, the papers and their reporters work for themselves.

    Many moons ago when I worked in traffic, we had a set number we were expected to write based on the platoon average. If the average was 25 per shift, you tried not to go over. I could write over 50 if was really interested in doing so but that would make me stand out with the other guys on my shift in a bad way, they would have to work harder. I used to give lots of warnings.

     

    Some coppers are motivated to write tickets because of court time. If they write enough, they have to attend court on their days off, which is overtime. Most tire of this because of taxes, better things to do with their time off etc. Remember being told that you always fight the ticket, the copper may not show up in court and it will be thrown out? Guys who are going for the overtime love that one.

     

    How to get a warning:

     

    Be polite, respectfull and tell the truth. If you get caught speeding, admit it right there, do not make up a story. It is better to say, "ya, tough day, just pushing it to get home" or yes sir, late for work etc. Apologize. Coppers have trouble giving tickets to people who are just like them, HUMAN

     

    If you get the ticket, you probably earned it anyway, pay it and get on with life.

    Thanks for your concerns lady and gents.

     

    When my computer crapped out I found all kinds of time on my hands. I started a couple of new projects, and I met a very nice lady. I have my computer back now and I am for the moment focusing on the new lady and other things. I have every intention of getting back into the flow once I have solidified my new circumstances.

     

    Your concern and the telephone call from Zero was very much appreciated.

    Shodan, i respect the viewpoint of keeping safety a main concern. absolutely.  One of the main problems i have is the inability to test for THC level on site in the way in which you can for alcohol. i was trying to figure out if there was some other reaction that could be measured. since THC is stored in the fatty cells, and its residue bleeds off into urine over time, immediate direct testing seems hard. would a series of "sobriety tests" and "reaction tests" be sufficent to test for it?

     

    also, i wonder how the prevaliance of marijuana as a cause of death. i think that statistic would be interesting, but in the face of the other causes of crashes/everything else- i dont expect the number to be high for THC.

     

    as for the cases about gang wars and pedofilia/rape-> do you think the issue there is really marijuana there? i mean. I was a huge drug user for several years, and honestly, i never once thought about raping anyone, much less my sisters. thats really weird. and i mean that very seriously. thats really really weird. i think there are more issues there than just drug use, and i dont think that is anything but a scape goat. but thats my take.

     

    the rate of marijuana use in america is something amazingly high, something like one in every 3 or 4 if i recall right. the rate of inprisonment is growing, the rate of violent crimes is dropping. the rate of marijuana use, i can almost promise, is growing with it.

     

    did i mention thats really weird to want to rape your sister? seriously.

    My concern is striclty safety. Almost every person on our society at one time or another gets behind the wheel of the most dangerous weapon on our planet, the motor vehicle. We have ways to determine if someone is impaired for alcohol, medical issues etc but not for drugs. We have road ragers, people with anger issues, people having heart attacks while driving and just plain terrible drivers. Most accidents are preventable as you well know. People using any drug while driving just adds one more opportunity for needless accidents and traffic fatalities. With the roadside breathalizer, we can act instantly if we suspect impairment, arrest, licence suspension etc. We can use this test to determine punishment. With drugs, I need to get a warrant, go to a hospital and get blood tests even if I see a crack pipe in the open or a pound of dope on the front seat. I know we all hate to see the needless waste of life on our roadways.

     

    As far as the bother sister thing, when I arrested him, he explained that he was mad at his sister because she interupted him and his friends smoking up in his bedroom. She threatened to tell their parents. The two friends initated the rape, he piled on to punish her. His lawyer used "lower inhibitions" due to his smoking pot as a defence. He plead guilty and was sentenced accoridingly.

     

    In regards to dealers and gangs: Yes, they will always have drugs to sell. Their biggest customers now are people who buy ounces and dime bags of pot. Make that legal and most of the low level guys will move on to other things. The guys who sell the hard stuff will continue to have a market. The gangs running the grow ops will be out of business if pot is grown through licensed means.

     

     

    If people would be more accountable for thier actions and take responsibility for their errors, we would have a much safer society where substances like pot would and should be legal. We are not there yet no matter how much we think we are.

     

    Your comment about stats, I know that you know that we can make stats say anything you want them to. When a house burns down because the lights in the basement were being used to dry pot, and someone dies, is that drug related or an electrical issue? I have never seen a person overdose on pot but I saw a kid walk the edge of an apartment building roof to impress his friends and subsequently fall off and break is back. Now was that drug related or kids being kids: he had just smoked a joint. I investigated an accident where the heater fell of a guys joint while he was driving. He was trying to put it out as it fell in his crotch. He killed both his daugters who were in the back seat of his car when he drove off of the road. That same thing could have happened with a cigarette for sure. But was that accident drug related or just plain driver error?

     

    As I stated in my original post, a very complicated issue. I don't have the answer but I enjoy seeing what others think.

    Pot is one of very complicated issues. After years in law enforcement, I have a very jaded veiw.

     

    I have seen what grow ops have done to neighbourhoods, homeowners property. I have had to tell parents that there 16 year old son died in a head on collision because he was so stoned that he did not know which way he was going on a busy highway. I have seen the gangs killing each other over turf, the innocent bystanders being killed by these same guys. I dealt with a fourteen year old rapist who got high and thought it was cute to force his 11 year old sister into sex.

     

    I try to think of the positive sides to this narcotic and the only one I see is the medical application.

     

    I remember years ago when doctors were on television ads saying that cigarettes had no long term ill effects. I see doctors doing the same with pot. There has been study after study done to prove both sides of the argument.

     

    We can't control beer, wine and spirits, how do was expect to control drugs? I have heard over and over that we should let the individual make their own choices. I see those same idividuals get behind the wheel of a car well over the legal intoxication limits after being to a party and only consuming booze. We can test for that and pull them off the road. We can't do the same for pot or other drugs without blood tests.

     

    I will accept the argument that if you make it legal that all those grow ops would disapper, the drug dealers will be out of work and by gosh we can now tax it. But until we can find a way of identifying at the roadside when a driver is too high to drive, I say sorry, I can't support it. When I hear the head of the pot party in Canada asking for support for legalization of pot, I say great, got that road side tester ready yet?

    First off, I think your frustration stems from a misconception.  Most people are under the impression that forums are open for anyone to discuss topics.  If a post is made publicly, there's a good chance someone will respond to it.  If you want to engage in a private discussion with someone, I would suggest the PM method.  That could avoid some frustration in the future.

     

    Secondly, yeah, things aren't perfect in here.  But they're a HECK of a lot better than they were a few weeks back.  You just caught us during a transitionary period.  People come here to learn, think through topics, learn about other people's viewpoints, and possibly change their own.  Along the way, there's conflict and debate.  The people here are informed, passionate, and very vocal.  Combine that with similar people with different views, and you have debates.  I still think the political forums are a good place... otherwise I wouldn't be making the effort I am to improve this place.

     

    I hope you all join me in helping tidy up the place a bit and make it something we can all be proud of.

    Sorry Unclean, I do not expect to be insulted or belittled in a place that I am a member. I laughed when he pointed me to the DOH clan page. I play with a couple of guys in there occasionally in our servers. They have been nothing but courtious and polite when they come to visit. I welcome them and thank them for dopping by. I treat others as I expect to be treated. There is a differnce between debating a persons views without making them feel attacked or inferior and offering insight and wisdom. I felt as though he was trying bait me.

     

    Perhaps you feel that you are making a difference in this forum and I truly hope you do. My point, does this forum truly belong in GC? If so, I will do my best to ignore some of the people in it and continue to read some of the posts.

     

    If Ish decides to drop by our cs servers sometime, I will be more than happy to see him, and shoot him, and nade him, etc, and I will polite and courteous the entire time.

    The whining and crying about being offended over such ridiculous things is over the top. 

     

    But since we are on this "I am offended" streak, I guess I will start doing my own reporting.

     

     

    This whole thread seems a little out there now. I am not a regular particpant in the Polictical Forums. I saw a post that ZD made about the loss of 2000 soldiers, thought it was worth my time to read it. I read it, was shocked and angered by the actions of the people in the pictures. I responded to Zero in regards to Zero's post. Then some guy I don't know posts up concering my post. At the time, I felt as if he were calling me stuped, belittling me because of my opion and in my opinion he was just downright rude. I thought I was clear that I did not want him involved in my posts back and forth to Zero, I had to come back and clarify. I read his comments, felt that his opinion was somehow intended to agitate me and I told zero that in teamspeak. That is where the washing machine thing came from.

     

    To me, this episode makes me wonder why GC even hosts this forum? If I had responded to a new player coming onto one of our servers like that I would be burned at the stake. I had this immediate desire to ban this guy. Is this guy even a gc member? From everything I can find, he is a forum member only. I think he should pay for his over server to host this forum because as a GC member, I don't want to pay for "this" forum.

     

    When next a vote comes up, record it now, I say this forum "go away".

    :bang: sorry bout your day man. here's to setting it right:

     

    the mani admin plugin has tk protection built in to take care of the server when admins aren't around. most times it does what it's supposed to, but sorry it backfired tonite. it's setup for 3 kills (i think within a map) and then kick/ban for 24hours. your steam id isn't on the ban list, so if you got kicked, well, i dunno why you'd get kicked. if an admin intentionally kicks gc, there should be posts flying somewhere about it. haven't seen anything yet.

     

    second, i'm almost ALWAYS on aol instant messager. so is avengence. add j0hngc and avengencegc to your contact list. use http://www.trillian.cc if you don't have a client. if you'd hang out in the forums more ;), you'd know some of the other people not from the west server that could help you out. you could also use our teamspeak server, which i highly recommend.

     

    third, and i hang my head at this, it was probably me that didn't catch your "no" to the "is everything ok?" i wait for a few people to give the ok, then get back to whatever i was doing. use aim, and i'll respond.

     

    last, to make good, how about a personal invititation to the western warfare this friday? signups are taking place over here.
