  1. Few questions:

-Why does this concerns you and your coworkers?

-What's your boss reaction to this? Why will he not talk to her directly?

-Do you have any legal agreement that limits personal phone calls?

    -Are you unionized?

As it was mentioned above, 15 minutes per 6-7 times a day it's a lot off time. This along can be a reason to fire a person. If this a medical condition then she must bring a proof of it.

And yes, blocking devise can be useful and range can be limited. I bet if you call a company that installs such tech, they will be happy to explain. It's not cheap, though.

Why does this concern me? Mainly because I'm in a supervisory position, and the owner asked me to look into ways to monitor that she is in fact using her phone while taking 15 minute bathroom breaks several times during a 7 hours workday.

yes it does effect her productivity.

No we don't care what she is doing on her phone. What she does on her phone is her business. How much she uses it while on company time, is our business. We can write her up for it, sure, but without proof she could fight any discipline.

The excessive bathroom breaks began after she was told not to use her phone as much while at her desk when she was supposed to be working. We do have a written policy regarding excessive cell phone usage while at work, but apart from having someone in there with her to make sure she isn't using her phone,

What we are looking for is a device that will "ping" when activity is detected near the bathrooms.

Honestly I think that even if we were to install something to block her signal, I doubt it would stop her. She would seem to me to be more likely to do it more just assuming that something was temporarily interrupting her phone.

  2. we don't need to track what she's doing. we just want to be able to know if she's using it while she's in the restroom 6-7 times a day for 10-15 minutes at a crack. We don't care *what* she doing on it, but telling her to stop doesn't work. We believe it is taking time from her work, and want to know when she's using it. If she eaves her desk, and then the activity light kicks on, we know. We suspect, but can't prove anything.

  3. I'm going to try this, I saved it as a public wishlist, but this *should* be a direct link. http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=18160914 If that doesn't work, go to newegg.com and go to public wish lists and copy/paste this:

    amd computer build 2013/14

Note, there are 2 incompatible viddy cards there because I'm not sure which one I'm going to be able to get. There is also a Corsair 120 GB ssd that isn't listed.

  4. I just bought this board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876 to go with this cpu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285 for my new build. now, to be fair, I haven't built it, let alone run anything on it. I'm still buying parts for it. From my research, the AMD 6320 6 core proc was comparable to a mid range intel chip (i forget which one), but rated better necause of a lower price/higher overclock ability. I got the 8320 because it was on sale for $10 more than I was willing to pay for the 6320, so it was a no brainer.I also bought a liquid cooling kit to push it higher. Oh, it's an FX seriesm so the multi is unlocked giving you a better OC option.

The motherboard is ASUS. I use ASUS in all my builds and have never been let down.

  5. I'm running an old Linksys WRT 51g and I thought about doing that back when my wife was playing Star Wars Galaxies. I hated that game (and the monthly fee) and figured if her computer was laggy, she'd stop playing. I decided I liked living more than I wanted her computer to connect slowly to the server.

Now my issue is we're using the internet connection to stream content our Roku, plus a couple smart phones, a nook, and sometimes an old ifone that uses wifi. Fortunately I don't do much online gaming anymore.

  6. I'm always game for FFO. I liked Black Wolf Hall just fine, but it was also very nice to be in a confined space, ala a hotel where if I wanted too, I could park my car when I got there and not move it till Sunday. I also recognize the potential restrictions that having it at a hotel presents, but since the craphouse hotel room I got for the weekend wasn't much cheaper than the Clarion (which had WAAAAAY nicer rooms) I'd be willing to part with a bit more for that convenience.

  7. Ok, I've heard the horror stories about Win 8 and how it's built for tablets and the heck with us pc types. I have also heard some success stories about gaming pc users with Win 8. My question is what should I do for my new build? I figure my budget will end up somewhere in the mid $1300's. I can post the link to my build if that's interesting to anyone. I went for the AMD side of things because for what I wanted to spend on the processor, the Intel chip wasn't IMO good enough. Sure I could have spent more, but not on my budget. In a nutshell, 8 core proc, 16 gig ram, water cooling, and either a 660 GTX, or 760 GTX video card

So, what I'd like to know are your experiences, pros and cons. Building a new system, 7, or 8?

  8. So, back in the days of dialup bbs's, ya know 91-94'ish (for me anyway) I needed a nickname for the local boards I called and played hi-tech games like Hangman, LORD, and Trade Wars on. My favourite comic was X-Men, but Wolverine was taken on the boards I was on, and even if not, once you've seen that name on a local board, you don't want to be confused for the other user. So I started out as Professor X, soon after I changed it to Dr. X for the villain in Operation Mindcrime before I decided I needed something better. One of my favourite bands at that time was The MisFiTs, so I grabbed the "MisFiTs" cd (later titled Collection I) and the last track was Wolfsblood, which was a misspelling of the original title Wolf's Blood.

I've been Wolfsblood ever since for every online game, and every online community I've been a part of. I also get really tinkled if I join an online forum and somebody has stolen my name. I'm like the Highlander: There can be only one.

I also look surprisingly like my avatar, so that's also appropriate.

    Wolfsblood.
