  1. I am actually pretty qualified to do all that...the pay would have to be pretty good for me to relocate though. I've been a professional tech writer for years, and I have formal education in documentation, proposals, manuals, templates, etc. You sure you don't want to open a branch in Ohio?

  2. Hrm...maybe I'll give COD another chance when this comes out. I keep going back to CS because, in CS, I can actually get a team to work together. In COD4, it's just run around and shoot people. There is no strategy--just run and gun. I like teamwork! I like strategy!

  3. Finally got my Droid X last night! :luxhello:

Already downloaded snesoid and psx4droid, looking forward to trying to fire up some chrono trigger and FFVII (never played any FF before, heard this was one of the best).

    Finally! :P

Get Final Fantasy III also. It was for the SNES, and my favorite of the series by far. If you can, play through FF3 before FF7. It may be harder to go back from 7 to 3.

My favorite is Final Fantasy IV (it was Final Fantasy II here in the USA). Final Fantasy III in the USA was actually FFVI, which is my second favorite. Then comes the original Final Fantasy for NES, then 7, then possibly 5...

  4. No the 2.2 is not officially on the incredible yet, if you root it there's a 2.2 Rom u can load I believe. The incredible will get 2.2 though for sure they have announced. As far as drawbacks, battery life is all I have to complain about, and rooting can help extend that. I've also read that soon the incredible will have software available for taking 720p HD video since the hardware is capable of it, it just lacks the software. With 2.2 it should also support mobile hotspots, even though rooting already fixes this issue. Once it can do that id say this phone is extremely comparable to the Droid X, without being so huge. I love it so far.

If you haven't gotten the OTA yet, check this out: http://www.androidcentral.com/how-manually-update-your-incredible-froyo

  5. How many miles are on the car and is this it's first trans fluid change?

Two things are very common in this situation.

    1) They used the wrong fluid, all transmission fluids are NOT created equal. Different transmissions use different fluids and the manufacturers call for very specific additive packages in their fluids, this is so much more important than it used to be. So make sure he used the right stuff, don't be afraid to check the manual or call the parts dept at the dealer and see what it takes, then quiz the guy to see if he knows what's up. Fluid level is also important, especially in automatics, too much or too little will cause driveability issues.

    2) High mileage vehicles that have never had the transmission serviced can actually suffer problems after a fluid change. The friction material and other wear items in the trans will wear faster after being neglected for too long, then all of the material that has worn off over time actually kinda keeps the thing together....then when you change it and remove all of that stuff and add clean fluid, it causes problems, usually slippage though, which it doesn't sound like you have.

Check the fluid type, and if need be, take it to the dealer and have it sorted out...transmissions are expensive to replace :)

    +1

  6. modern transmissions are "learning" transmissions. They monitor the state of your engine over time as well as your driving habits and adjust things like the throttle, shifts, etc. When you reset the computer, it resets everything to factory state, which means that your learning transmission is in 1st grade again--it thinks the car is new and is still adjusting itself. I'd personally recommend driving it for a week or two and then, if the problem doesn't go away, go bug your mechanic again.

Just make sure to tell the mechanic what you're doing. Call them say that you will give it a week to see if the transmission problem clears up as the computer determines the state of the system, but if the shifting is still wonky after a week or two, you're bringing it back and they ARE fixing it.

    And that makes up another edition of Mav's 2-cents . . . I hope it helps. :smillie_smilling:

  7. I'm in the market for a car, but yours has too many doors for me. I only use one at a time, the rest of the doors would become depressed.

I could take the rear ones off for you. :)

Besides, with the suspension and engine in that car, it drives like something with two doors anyway. :shrug03:

  8. how did you come across this lol, do we even want to know?

One of the geeky blogs I read. I can't remember which one. :shrug03:

You have to admit, however, it is pretty freakin' funny

  9. I'm sad to say that I'm selling my car--the only reason is that my wife just got a job that involves around 120 miles daily commute, and we need to get our monthly costs down a bit to accommodate the extra travel expense...

So, if you know anyone that may be interested, or if you are, let me know. The Craigslist listing is here: http://akroncanton.c...1913059681.html

If you want to know anything else let me know. I'll be sad at losing my 303 hp at 323 ft-lbs of torque, but life is a-knockin' :shrug03:

  10. rofl you guys are nuts, I wonder what the paypal people would do if you posted a fraud ticket when it didn't work?

Yeah, how do you get a refund on your butt? I suppose you could say that the magic circle wasn't properly set up or something . . . :shrug03:

  11. Sweet. If I can at least get Chrono Trigger working, I'll consider it a win.

I'm not terribly worried about the rooting thing at this time. I'm betting I have this thing for a while before I start messing around THAT much with it. By that time, someone will have figured out a one-push root and it'll all be gravy.

They have a one click root already :)

Chrono Trigger is what I'm playing on mine right now--I love it...plays smooth as silk. :wiggle2:

  12. Meh, I love my original droid....but Mororola is already changing their tune a bit with their newer phones and have released part of their source code. We will see how far it goes, but at least the X is easily rooted.

I LIKE the HTC phones, but they're slower than Moto with updates. The Incredible still isn't running Froyo, and people are worried that it's the Sense UI that's slowing things down....preference is prefernce though, and there is definitely nothing wrong with the Incredible.

As far as the emulators go, the buttons are overlaid on the screen...it works really well.

  13. Now why didn't I think of that? Sigh

Seriously, we should sell these to support Gamerscoalition! We could advertise with the following:

"Hone the tone of your butt! A group of powerful gamers who have mastered the technique of projecting psychic energies through electronic forms of communication can use their powers to manipulate the synergy between the muscles in your butt and you brain. Through a series of psychic blasts transferred electronically through E-mail, we can command your mind to tone your butt for you. All you have to do is sit back and relax while your muscles firm themselves!"

    "-no refunds"

  14. Yeah but I'm not entirely sure about voiding my warranty right off the bat. And the chances of me screwing up the root are greater than me not screwing it up. Otherwise i would say I'm all for rooting it.

Pretty hard to screw up: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/08/03/motorola-droid-x-gets-single-click-root-on-pc-or-on-phone-its-your-choice/

Also, it's very easy to unroot with the same program. No one that I've talked to (and I've talked to a lot of Android owners--it's how I've learned so much about it) has had trouble exchanging rooted devices. :shrug03:

That being said, aside from overclocking, it will also let you tether and create wireless hotspots for free....biiiiig bonus

  15. Yeah a guy i work with has the Incredible, it's pretty sweet. I tried out the Droid 2 at the store, it didn't wow me. I hate the way Motorola set up the Android system on their phones. And the Droid X, well if you're into a huge @$$ screen then you're into it, I'm not going to fly off the handle about it just because it has HD video capabilities, and its still motorola. So either i didnt like the motorola look and feel of Android or i didn't like version 2.2 Android, which ill end up with soon enough anyways. HTC makes good phones anyway. Only thing I'll prolly regret about getting it over the other 2 is battery life.

Root your phone, get Set CPU, and then run an "On Demand" power scheme.

I have my Moto Droid (original) running Froyo (2.2) at 1.1 ghz...it underclocks down to 250 mhz when it's not in use, and scales anywhere in-between depending on what I'm doing. I only charge about every other day (vs. ever day without it), or if I go nuts and play a ton of SNES or Playstation games that day, I charge it once a day. It's slick.

Also, I don't like the Moto Blur skin they have on their Android OS, I am running vanilla Froyo and like it better than HTC Sense...but it's all preference. The nice thing with Android is, no matter what device you get, you can make the OS look pretty much how you want with a little work. :peace:

  16. Not gg, i changed my mind and I switched to Verizon. My Droid Incredible should be in the store tomorrow or Thursday and I'll be setting it up then. I like the incredible for the size, the way it feels when i hold it, the camera, and i like the overall feel of the OS on the HTC rather then how its set up on Motorola. I'll be returning my Aria and cancelling the plan once i get the new phone.

Good deal, the Incredible is a good phone! :wiggle2:

  17. OK, it will NOT natively sync outlook contacts and calendar, however, there are a couple ways around this, none of which are terribly annoying.

You'll need Google Calendar Sync, which will basically poll your Outlook calendar as often as you want it to (I have mine set to 10 minutes), and sync that with your phone. You never have to plug it in, and it's fast and been 100% reliable for me thus far.

The only problem with it is it is a bit of a pain to get working with Office 2010, but I got around that too. (Google needs to update it)

As far as contacts are concerned, that's a little bit more painful....basically, you either buy a program to sync your Outlook info, or you export your Outlook contacts as a CSV and import them into your Google contacts. They will then instantly sync to your phone (a little slower if you're on a crappy data connection).

Additionally, I'd go for the Droid 2 over the Droid X, but that's just my preference. :shrug03: (I'd be happy to tell you why if you're curious, but was trying to stay mostly on point)
