  1. I know this happaned a while ago, and I wish I would have responded earlier, but I just came back to the .gc forums! That was hillarios, yet infuriating at the same time.

I pride myself on being a non-sterotypical writer, I don't do drugs, I don't even drink, and I am not mad at society for producing mindless automatons assured so completely of their supiority when linked similarly with the beliefs and interests of the majority.

So the reason the post irritated me is that the guy is a stereotypical artist, and that makes me angry. He probably believes that being stoned opens up his mind to all sorts of wonderful plains of thought and existences that is unattainable for us poor mediocre individuals who refrain from such exestential transitions. I'm also certain that he believes every christian accepts the bible as fact absolute and reads it literally word for word. I'm sure he also believes in free speech and the right to state one's opinion no matter what, heedless as to whether or not he is actually impairing or quashing the rights of others, when in reality, he is actually against free speech.

See, he disagrees with any belief structure that is not his own, thus closing his minds to alternative forms of though and seeking to destroy the opinions of others because he sees them as untrue. True belief in freedom of speech implies that such opinions should be discussed, not quashed. Therefore his closed minded opinion on what a video game should or should not be is hypocracy at its finest.

Oh wait, there's more. Now, he automatically assumes that everyone who plays here thinks and acts the same, lumping us as one conformist entity that moves as one with no independant thought or motive. That's also hypocracy because if one were to truly promote individuality, one would seek it out instead of ignoring the fact that it exists.

Now to the point that made me write all this because I'm simply too irritated to not do so. Writers of "modern fiction" and "modern poetry" all write about the same drivel. I took a class in college entitled "modern fiction" in which we read short stories. EVERY SINGLE ONE had something to do with alcohal or drugs without exception....all of them. That's pathetic! Can't "modern writers" come up with something more original? Obviously this guy thinks that being a stoner makes him an individual, when in reality he's doing nothing more than striving to conform to the current stereotype that is the modern writer.

Also, with such a stunted vocabulary (he used fancy words, but the connation and flow was off) I'm sure that his music sucks, and his writing is dry. Proving the Bible wrong is an idiotic thing to say for the simple fact that "wrong" is a realative term, and what one person sees in the Bible, andother person may see something altogether different.

A REAL writer would notice these things and acknowledge them. Getting modern poetry published in some form of another is quite easy. I coudl do it today if I wanted to, and all I would have to do is write something that makes absolutely no sense but is filled with dark ominous tones and words.

This guy needs to learn how to be a REAL individual and start thinking for himself. He's doing EXACTLY what society expects him to do without even realizing he's doing it. That, my friends, is the ultimate in mindless acts of conformity. Grow a brain and see reality for what it is.

Thanks...and that does it for Maverick's lecture on morons who think themselves superior.

Also, if any of you would like to read any of my writing, let me know, I'm always up for some good feedback! Just send me a PM or E-mail. :D

  2. So I'm probably going to buy a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP.

For those of you that are thinking...boring...you don't know the GXP. It has a 5.3L V8 engine with 3.3 hp and can do a quareder mile 14.3 seconds...that's pretty freakin' good considering it's a stock sedan.

On top of that, for 30k, I get Nav system, overhead display, leather, side airbags, monsoon sound system with changer, drilled and enlarged disc brakes, specially tuned sports suspension, and still get 30 mpg on the highway with a V8.

Yup, that's right, 30mpg (it's rated at 27) on the highway. Why do I say 30 if it's rated at 27? Because I've been reading the owner's sites, and they say anywhere from 26 to 38.

The car has better reliability ratings (according to J.D. Power and Associates) than the Accord I was looking at, and it's FASTER.

I test drove a 350z, and although the Z is faster off the line, this Grand Prix would kill it in high gears on the highway. There's just more torque there. When I test drove the GXP, I was up to 98 before I even knew it...the only thing that tipped me off was my girlfriend gasping in the passenger seat.

You can't beat it! I was looking a similarly equipped Maxima and it was $38,000. For 8 grand less, I can have a more highly rated, and faster car with an extra feature or two.

    What do you guys think?

  3. I'm not a ford fan either, but the actual speed and performance of both vehicles is fairly close (look up the specs), although I'd bet anything that the corvette handles better. That's just a guess of mine though, but judging from how badly Mustangs handle.....(the Ford GT is in a whole different ballpark though)

In any case, the Z06 costs a lot less, and is less likely to explode! :D

There was a recall on the Ford GT that they brought back a few years ago that said not to drive the cars at all under any circumstances...lol

  4. I'm 105 and 2 on the stats page with the p228.....that's just scary. I knew I used the pistol a lot, but 105 and 2?

I'm a p228 addict, and I admit it....that's the first step to recovery. :bang:

  5. Personally, I'm going to grab myself a quick charge kit. It charges fast, and can do two at a time. I have a play & charge kit as well, but the problem with that is that it charges slowly. I'm all for the quick-charge and swapping batteries in and out.

  6. well first congrats hope all goes well

Hehehe..thanks guys....and as for me playing CS...I dunno if that'll ever end. :-) Not only that, she wanted me to teach her how to play! :D She's perfect I tell you!

Oh no...that's even worse...then you'll only be allowed to watch...sounds better than it actually is!

if she wants to play cs that means you get a second computer and make it better than your current one. then give the one you have now to her.

She already has an Alienware m7700 laptop...it plays CS:S wit no trouble at all. Actually, between the two of us, we have 3 computers that can play CS:S easily and on higher settings; my desktop, my laptop, and her laptop. :D

There will be no watching for Maverick

  7. Keep Dust....put in compound! Hehehe...I don't get why no one likes the map.....

Anyway, I think that the custom maps should be added to the server to be sure...just some all out fun ones, and put them in a Votemap option. In addition, if it seems people are unhappy with the map, the admin or admins present can ask if they want to go to a "fun" map.

Personally I REALLY miss Legoland....never saw an empty server with that classic...

Anyway, just a few thoughts from Maverick

  8. Hehehe...Allanon, I wasn't implying that of anyone.

Just a general, if you like it someone hates it, and if you hate it someone likes it statement

Wasn't directed at anyone in particular! :-) I just want people to stay on regardless of the map is all. You're one of the proud regulars that stay on even if you're not a fan of the map the server is on.

So no worries friend, and if I offended, I didn't mean to! :peace:

I agree though...some fun maps...just for the fun of it! :D

  9. Oh, we could easily glass the Middle East in a matter of months without using Atomics. However, if we do that we will start WWIII. Even if we level one country, we'd start something much much larger.

I was referring more to police actions. We can't afford to undertake anymore. That's all I meant. If we go to actual war with Iran, that's different, but that won't happen. We may call it a war, but it won't be an all-out war. We won't go in and simply take them over like the olden days. We'll try to do what they've tried to do in Iraq, and we simply don't have the resources to spare...

That is unless Bush brings back the draft...which would make him even less popular than he already is to a scary degree.

  10. Actually, if you do your research, the price of a plasma TV is actually less than an LCD and the life-span is finally comperable. Contrary to several urban legends, they don't leak either.

Plasma TV's resolution is lower than LCD, but you will get much better color depth in a plasma than you will with an LCD. The LCD is lighter though.

The LCD will last you a little longer, but a good plasma TV will last a good 12 to 15 years. That being said, if you go plasma you absolutely cannot beat Pioneer. They cost a little more, but they are worth every penny, and they're still cheaper than the big-screen LCD's.

If you go LCD, the SHARP Aquos TV is excellent. The best picture in LCD really, but they're very expensive. My second choice would be SONY.

If you go DLP or CRT I would go SONY hands down.

That being said, the life-span on DLP is terrible. CRT's last a good long time but they're HEAVY and huge. DLP looks great, but I would avoid it because of the life-span.

I've put a few years of research into what kind of HDTV I'm going to buy, and I've decided this: For gaming on consols and plugging your computer into it, you should really go LCD, the resolution is high enough so you can read everything, and there is almost no danger of burn in. For movies, TV, and video, you just can't beat a plasma if you want a huge TV. Rear projections just don't look as good, CRT's are just as sharp, but are smaller and weigh 300lbs. (my dad has a HD CRT that's 32" or somewhere there abouts and it ways 278 lbs.)

My brother's 52" Pioneer Plasma TV has the most incredible picture on it I've ever seen on a TV when watching HDTV or DVD's period. It's unmatched. It kills my friend's Panasonic Plasma, and it kills my brother's top-o-the line SONY CRT HDTV.

However, you can read for yourself. Just type in Google things like "LCD vs Plasma" or "CRT vs. LCD," etc.

I hope that helps! Again, I would avoid DLP...picture=great, lifepsan=crap

  11. On saturday (9/16/06)...that's tomorrow, I'm going to ask my girlfriend Amanda to marry me! :D

We've been together for 2 and 1/2 years or so and have talked about it a bit, so I'm pretty excited.

I'm going to take her to the place where we first told eachother that we were in love and there will be roses there. That's where I'm going to give my little poetic speech and pop the question!

    Wish me luck guys! :wavey:

  12. That's a 40 minute drive for me...hmmm...I'll talk to my girlfriend (she's coming over tonight) and see if she wants some Mexican food!

If she does, I'll see you there...I'll be the 6'1" white guy with the 4'11" asian girl....lol

    If not, maybe next time.
