  1. I have issues with it too. Aside from occasional mission bugs there's hanging and engine crashes. I reinstalled my ATi drivers to like 6.4 which never hang any other game for me, including GTASA which used to hang after hour of play on newer drivers. So I guess hanging is due to the game itself not being polished. I hope there's a patch coming soon to address some of these issues cause it's a sweet game.

I had pretty much the same problem. I have a x1900xt and was using the 7.2 drivers and had constant crashes and freezes. I couldn't even get the game to run more than 10 seconds with 7.1. So now I am using 6.12 and they seem to be ok. I don't think STALKER likes ATI.

I think since AMD bought ATi total idiots are in charge of making drivers for vid. cards

  3. Here's a pretty solid system that has room for upgrades in the future (all of this from Newegg):

    Grand Total: $578.96

This doesn't include a case of course, but all those components are pretty solid. The PSU is not the most extravagant, but I have used a couple of those in other builds and they are solid enough until you're ready for a more major video card upgrade. The ones I have installed have been running with no problems at all for almost a year. That card is also going to be pretty good, especially for a middle of the road graphics setup. I have 2GB of that RAM in my own setup, no complaints. You may want to consider adding another GB at some point, but 1GB should be alright as long as you're running XP.

    Hope this helped you some!

For under $600 this is pretty good but....

I'd definitely recommend DDR2 memory that's 800Mhz not 667Mhz. For gaming it's a must, though again it's gonna bump the price some (maybe twice as much) and you should get 2 gigs as well. I don't know exact models that are good but Corsair XMS should be good.

On the case, I'd advise something from Thermaltake like Armor series or something, it's more expensive but very good cooling. I know Cujo has one and he recommends it.

That's a very cheap power supply and I wouldn't recommend it. I'd look for something over 500 Watts around $100 maybe.

The video card is decent, good for Source.

The mobo isn't bad either from what I know.

Proc should be good, especially if overclocked

    :peace:

  4. waste of money!

i like everything beside the videocards and the processor. They are way overpriced right now, and totally worthless at this point. There's no DX10 games, and there isn't any use for 4 cores. In Source there isn't any for even a dual core! For now....Later when prices go down maybe it'll be worth it ;)

  5. If you get a dual-core Intel you'll have to get a new mobo AND new RAM cause those mobos run on DDR2 so...I don't know if a good setup gonna cost less than $500 though...you'll prolly want a E6600 which is about $320 so then you'll have only $180 for RAM and mobo. Your setup is better than mine for Source and I'm not planning to upgrade so far, so unless for other games I wouldn't move a muscle yet...my opinion

btw, did you OC your 3400+? That would be the best option!
